  1. at the last sandi game i saw robbie warnock floating around. could he be involved in the trade? we need a big ruckman and he's shown a bit. this is pure speculation though based on nothing.
  2. the reason he knows which players are tradeable is due to the process he has gone through to get the job. apparently they had to do a list appraisal and match simulation.
  3. i agree im a johno fan too, has got an x factor. but it is time for some tough decisions.
  4. From a very good source (i know sounds very very dodge, but check my history ive never made claims before). apparently all members in the selection panel nominated two people, every person nominated bailey, and were very impressed with the way he presented himself, being very clear and direct. Bailey - does not believe in trade week (despite port having 9 recycled players in their premiership team), but has sounded out that Travis Johnstone is on the chopping block. not media savvy (happy with that) and will find it difficult to sell the club in the same manner as daniher (ultimately results sell the club) sheedy - was pick number 2 of the five, however the panel had concerns about his age and no new ideas hardwick - very keen on hardwick, however fumbled his way through the interview at times, they think he will be a very good coach in a few years, but weren't willing to take a risk on him connolly - not enough insight - no new ideas unlike bailey and hardwick riley - just part of the process. bond - no good on the psych testing in other news apparently bailey and libba were the only two who applied for the job, the others were approached by the melbourne football club. also longmire applied for the job after the first part of the process was complete, but could not be considered as he missed the first part. what i take from this, im very happy we have appointed someone who is not about selling the club, someone who was appointed because the club feels he can win us games. PS - i have written this not to be ridiculed about my source, if you are coming on here to bad mouth this just because of the source im not interested. just ignore this if you have a problem with my source.
  5. i saw col play against port melbourne and in other games for sandy. he is a very good reader of the play when played down back and id suggest he is very much in the jared rivers mould. this bloke will be a very very good player. not quite standout at vfl level yet but just does everything right. i remember rivers showing glimpses in his first year but it was his second year when he really stepped it up. ill say garland will be ready to play regular footy next year, probably not to the same level as jared rivers rising star year, but not far behind. he ll takr bizzells spot in 08.
  6. Miller will go to Waite, great opportunity for the coaches to see if he can play as a backman. Newton will play out of the square with robbo and bate will play across half forward (assuming dunn doesn’t play, which I think he should). This will leave carroll for kennedy and bizzell will zone off and play loose in the backline. Who’ll get Fisher? Id suggest Frawley is a good match up, however C.Johnson looks the most likely to take Bell’s position.
  7. 20 straight up, and 10 each goal, lets hope its not 10 on debut
  8. you sir have no idea. If you werent there to see newton's display shut up, he dominated the second quarter, absolutely dominated, was very good in the first, was quiet in the third and didnt play the fourth. . miller was no good today, if you were there you would of seen it too. nothing about knocking miller, he just had no impact, oh and get the facts straight dunn played pretty well, miller is the one still with something to prove. id take 3.4 and 2 out on the full over any day of the week. dont knock newton because you are a fan of miller. be happy that we have a player that is giving supporters hope in a season full of disappointment. how can you comment on something you didnt see?
  9. If i may make some observations. Daniher, Curran, Riley and Fagan were all there. Buckley, got plenty of it more so in the second half and was ok, without dominating Newton, absolutely killed them in the second quarter, was good in the first, didnt do much in the third, and i think was rested in the last. played no part in the last and did have an ice pack on his groin. not sure whether it was serious, but i doubt it. id suggest he is a dead set certainty for next week. Whelan played really really well for most of the game and looked set for a recall, i thought he was being rested in the last ready for friday night, however i saw him holding his wrist and was favouring his wrist after the game when congratulating everyone. he will not play this weekend, probably should miss a couple, although i didnt see the injury on field he looked very proppy post game. Garland, played very riversesque across the half back line in the first quarter, second good game in a row, drifted out of the game, but came good again in the last kicking a good goal from outside 50. Neaves, played really well throughout the game, and was interviewed post game, not sure if that meant he was best on, but wasnt far behind. Looked much better with jamar in the team. Jamar, took some good contested marks, but gave away a heap of free kicks and looked really frustrated. didnt look match fit and was blowing very hard throughout the game, but a good effort first up Miller, took some good marks in the last, and was very aggressive early on, but did not much, played out the game which would suggest he is not in consideration for the essendon game. didnt see the game he kicked six in, but his last two i have seen, and he has had minimal impact Dunn, a good four quarter effort, was terrific in the last, not sure that he did enough. but if newton is not picked dunn will play. started as a forward and was good, then drifted out of the game, but played quite well of a wing in the last C.Johnson, very very good in the second, kicked a good goal in the last from outside 50. id like to see him play this week at the expense of ward to see if he will make it. Probably deserves a run at melbourne from just this weeks performance Bode played and didnt do too much Warnock, not much influence Brown very good throughout but i doubt neale will go back to brown. his career may be over, its time for some kids To sum up, if Newton is not injured, from what i saw in the 2nd quarter, if daniher does not play him it is absolute crap. ive seen him play probably 4 games this year and each time he has not disappointed. surely the time is now, and id like to think im not one who gets to carried away, but once again the second quarter he absolutely dominated, he chases and can do the extraordinary, its time to see him at afl level.
  10. My old man and I were standing on the fence near the benches and Mick and his mate slid in next to us. We didnt recognise him until a bloke asked him for a signature. He was not a bad bloke, asking about some of our players, wheatley for example, daniel hughes (mainly because his son is a mate of his), he also said collingwood had a pretty good look at garland at the draft camp, and thinks he'll be ok. A collingwood player that i was interested in was martin clarke, an irish recruit of there's who landed in the country from ireland only this year, and is now playing vfl seniors, and does not look out of place. Mick said he'll be good. I said how do you think he would rate against the other irish players, he said big jim probably still takes the cake then of course tadgh, and hopes clarke'll get close to em. Both my old man weren't the biggest fans of the man pre sandy game, but he's not a bad bloke, he spoke openly and was just like another bloke standing on the fence next to you at the footy. He didnt pretend to know everything and was genuinely interested in the sandy players. He said when you go to these games you often only watch you're own team. We're all guilty of that. Little surprises like that are the reason why we should all try to get out to the footy at sandy, and the fact that sandy win every game. For me I thought Newton was head and shoulders above the rest yesterday. frawley looked very composed and clean. But Bizzell is gone, he looked very out of place and struggled. Neaves too looked ok. The beauty of Newton is his second efforts and his ability to do the extraordinary. he missed a few, but his snap i think in the third was a beauty. ordinary plalyers cant do stuff like that. id love to see him in a dees jumper, but am prepared to wait.
  11. I remember the same thing happening to andrew leoncelli a few years back. Very ordinary decisions by the respective football clubs.
