Run home to Finals - 2018
Just like any other week, get the job done and go again Dees.

The thing that gets me about this is the timing. Never a more irrelevant time for him to speak about anything relating to us.

Proposed new rules for 2019
If we could just make the most of the rules that we have I’ve got full faith the game can become better again. The game goes through peaks and troughs and there has always been bad games in every era, even the 80s and 90s which is the era people love pointing to as the flawless product era.

Proposed new rules for 2019
I have never understood he AFL’s motive for a rule change that they have brought in. The slide, 3rd man up, protected zone, 30 second shot clock. At best all I can remember is some murmuring about these things and they just decided to pull the trigger. We have so many stupid rules now that we can’t even officiate the ones we had in the first place properly. There’s a rule that’s been around for 120+ years. It’s called HOLDING THE BALL and if it occasionally got paid we might have a more free flowing game. 6-6-6 isn’t going to do anything. I love it how the AFL and some journos call for change saying the specticle isn’t great but we the fans seem to be screaming to leave the game alone. I understand ratings may be down and there’s a lot of ugly games but I’m just sick and tired of hearing of all this rubbish we need to do. Have zones, cap interchanges more and tire the players out, clear the centre square, shorten games, shorten seasons. No-one has any friggen idea what they are talking about. Im willing to bet that should we make these changes in 3 years time we’ll be looking to make changes to the rules again.

The healthy mental health thread
Yeah Earl Hood exercise is definitely key. Its something I've always tried to keep part of my routine for self esteem and obviously health purposes. Running and weights were definitely my things. I have found in the last 12 months or so I've really struggled with my running due to some persistent shin splint issues and the fact that all of a sudden it felt like running became 3 times harder for some reason. So I find myself at the moment going to the gym each night doing either the bike or the eliptical trainer. Also one a week I'll do weights. This is all beneficial of course but I think its a bit stale. I think I really need to lash out and try boxing or something different. Its just tough because when you're like this you also get so set in your ways!

The healthy mental health thread
It’s definitely not healthy that’s for sure. It just seems like things are a little out of balance. Went out for dinner with some friends during the Freo game a few weeks ago and I really resented it because I was missing the game. Been seeing a psych lately, seeing them this weekend. Hopefully it helps.

The healthy mental health thread
I don’t doubt it Earl Hood. MFC has always had a large part of my attention, but in the last 2 years it’s like it’s gone up about 5% more. Will put off certain social events because watching us play is just not negotiable. It’s completely my fault. I’ve tried so many times to pull away just a little bit but nothing can seem to replace that void left. Nothing excites me as much as knowing we have a game on this weekend and there’s a chance we might win and have that winning feeling. Just would be great to have some kind of other outlet for the moment! Thanks for your words.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
I'm personally happy with Oscar. He's had some great games where he's done all you could ask. Yeah he's he bit limited but I'd be in the camp of finding the right guy to play alongside him. I do feel there are many here and at games who feel he simply can't play, which is sad. Having said that I think its a worthwhile question SFebey asks and it gets you thinking. I'm sure there's many ideas on what we can do to improve our backline and at this stage I'm willing to listen to them.

Run home to Finals - 2018
I like it how after all we went through last year we are looking at a best case scenario of limping into the finals. Hardly seemed worth waiting for but it doesn't have to be glamorous this year I guess. Just gotta get in.

The healthy mental health thread
I don’t know if many other people are like this. I am at a point in life where football is pretty much all I care about. I’m single, in my early 30s, social but not quite as social as I used to be. But all I look forward to during a working week is the game that we are playing and hopefully that we’ll win so I can get that temporary happy boost that seems to be lacking so much in my life right now. Today was real hard to deal with, as I’m sure it was for many people here. I feel like most people here have other things to concentrate on but I feel like this is the only thing giving me some kind of buzz. Football is literally everything to me right now. Probably shouldn’t even be saying all this but I have thought about doing it for a while now.

Trengove to Debut for Port
Gonna claim ignorance on this. I thought he’d already played this year! All the best Jack!

New CEO - Gary Pert
Like others this appointment left me feeling weird initially. The work that PJ had done to build his club back up really had me wanting a ‘mini-PJ’ understudy who knew the way. Pert, while a credible CEO in his own right I just feel will come in and stamp his authority. The ship needs to sail on to an extent and I did feel that Mahoney was the guy for this. Im warming to the Pert idea more but I really hope we have put our club in the right hands. Big shoes to fill

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
A fair and thought out answer there. I agree Bernie has his moments but surely he hits more passes than he misses? I think the clangers just stick out because when they happen they are completely woeful. I'll admit this supports your argument somewhat. I do agree that the high half back role is one of the easier positions, hence why so many guys retire there. I do see where you're coming from but I still feel Jordan is a required player.

Who are the replacements for Lewis and Vince though? Grape said it on the podcast a few weeks ago and he was right. We ideally would have other guys there but we don't have the guys who are ready to be those composed and steady BP/HBF types. Wanna throw Wagner into that role? Sure, its your funeral.

Demons on Masterchef (16/5/18)
I can’t watch this right now. I’m just gonna record it on IQ and fast forward to all the Melbourne bits later

Gerard Whately is a Moron
If Whately is bad then that doesn’t really say a lot for any commentator in the game. I’d like to hear some examples of who is better.

What a Superbowl! Always seems to come down to little moments and the Brady fumble was one of them. Game of inches. On to free agency and the draft which can sometimes be as exciting as the games. Stoked my 49ers have locked up Jimmy G for 5 years. Paid up big but that’s what it takes now to get a franchise signal caller. Gonna be a great battle in the NFC West for years to come with Mcvay-Goff and Shanahan-Garoppolo. Pete Carroll and the Seahawks will have their work cut out!

Liam Ryan
There's definitely gotta be more to him than that run and leap for us to consider him. With Watts gone I'd really like a reliable kick for goal so if anyone can comment on his set shooting that would be appreciated. I suppose you're doing alright with 73 goals. Having said all this our club has a proud history of guys who can take a screamer, we should have one in the side at all times

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Calculated risk. Hope he stays injury free and helps lead our backline for years to come! Welcome Jake!

Even I'm thinking of tipping the Rams this week. Even though we took it to the Seahawks. Hoyer not bringing home the biscuits IMO.

The Panthers are a weird one. I wasn't that impressed with them in week 1. They may well have the most fierce defense around though and Luke Kuechly is back to his old self.
