  1. I don't understand why people are getting annoyed at the club for picking up older players for next to nothing. The only draft pick of any value that we have given up is 20. That pick is speculative & can only be judged in time. The rest of the older players we have picked up so far are above pick 50 or for nothing. Eg Sellar, Magner, Byrnes & now Rodan. So far the club hasn't given away anything so what's with the hysteria? Do we want the club to use low value draft picks on kids that will never get a game or players that may come in straight away & have an impact? I know which option I would choose & that is the path that the FD is currently going down. If they give up a rumoured pick 33 for Pederson I would be disappointed. So far that is only journalist speculation. Journos have been wrong so far this trade period so don't see why it won't happen again.
  2. If he can stay fit/not pop another knee he will be a valuable run & carry player around the clearances at least.
  3. Pick 49 for Ray & 58 for Pederson surely. Both can't get a game regularly & are over 26 years old. If Saints & North don't budge then no deal.
  4. 28 actually if you don't include pre season
  5. Grimes is also a walk up start being the captain along with Trengove. Sylvia & Viney also
  6. Maybe Neeld is backing himself & the rest of the football department to get the best out of the existing mids we have? Can only speculate I guess. I'd imagine his judgement of midfield players is pretty sound just going on his background in coaching.
  7. Is it possible that we give away pick 20 for Rich. FA compo for Dawes & R3/4 for Pederson & Rd 3/4 for Ray.
  8. Would Hogan really be the 3rd or 4th best player in this draft? I question whether these reports are correct. The club may be considering it bout doubt it will happen.
  9. After her article about trading pick 4 I don't really rate her info.
  10. Just because its a story in the age doesn't mean it's even close to reality. Neeld has said that a lot of the players & deals we've been linked with are rubbish. Yes Neeld is probably interested in Dawes & Wellingham but I doubt the pick 4 is anywhere close to reality.
  11. Pick 13 for both is probably still overs & I think they would still be getting a good deal there, maybe they could add a 4th round pick so we can use that as part of another trade. Ideally we would exchange our 2nd & 3rd round but they may be tied to other trades & possible father son.
  12. Good luck getting there Kurt! What pick is their first rounder?
  13. Wallet on Trade Week Radio is pretty adamant that neither GWS or the GC will bid on Viney. Says there are two many factors including go home factor, better players in this draft & GC needing pick 2 to possibly negotiate with trades such as Tippett.
  14. True. Even if they are giving us a bit of spin, I trust Misson & Craig to get the list to the right fitness levels in time. They both have the runs on the board over a long period in the game with other clubs. There were a few positives I took away from the meeting. The introduction of combat training for our players is well overdue. All finals have an element of body on body combat so it's great that the club is going down this path. Also the type of player Neeld is looking for as well as the character traits to belong to the club, not just as a player but employee. He wants winners/competitors in all positions throughout the club. From my perspective the club is addressing the culture & genuinely trying to be the best. In regards to player movement I believe they will try to attract 2-3 premiership experienced players through free agency & also trades. Whilst I can't make comment on certain players discussed throughout the meeting, what I gained from the meeting is that we are in a predatory position to take advantage of deals, but will not pay overs. Don't be surprised if similar to what happened with Mitch occurs again.
  15. Why don't you try think about list management from a more wholistic viewpoint. It's not just about drafting kids or stars, if it were that simple everyone would be doing it. The list needs to be built from every way possible meaning: mature age, trades, FA & the draft, and any other vantage point the club can think of. Our list has holes in it whichever way you look at it & I want the club to improve in any way they can by using the system in every way.
  16. Have heard talk about Gibbs being offered up as trade bait.
  17. Ha! Dane Swan intelligent ! Thanks for the laugh, made my lunch break.
  18. From what I've read, stringer is not a speedy crumbling type. More a contested ball winning machine & versatile overhead?
  19. He may be better than what we have on our list in his position & may be able to fill a role that isn't being filled by a player on our list currently? If we gave up a 3rd rounder for example, its not going to really hurt us. A lot of younger players picked up around those picks don't make it so why not pick a player that will have some sort of impact straight away?
  20. Considering Hale left north for a high 20s pick I don't think north could demand more than that. A pick around 35-45 should be enough I would have thought.
  21. Honestly, it is time for this club to bunker down. I wouldn't have an issue with the MFC if they were to have a media ban on certain journos. We keep taking the shard that is being thrown at us & throw nothing back.
