Red cents are all equally worthless anyway.

I think you're letting Oliver off the hook with that second one. I remember at the time being really disappointed in his effort to take that mark - he was in the right position, but was almost expecting some contact so he didn't go hard enough to take it. Had he marked it we were away through the middle of the ground.
Having re-watched it now, I'll meet you half way. Oliver could have done better but the turn over started from the kick. (from 0.55)

It was one. The second one being attributed to Jones was absolutely Clarry's fault. A soft effort going back with one hand. He goes back with two hands and he marks it. Jones made the right call there.
It was two. Jones had plenty of time and space to nail that kick, so much so the Oliver rightly had forward momentum expecting a kick to his advantage. The horrible kick way over his head and to the side wrong footed him leading to the desperate one handed reach to try and get to it.

Umm...he was our leading goal scorer in 2019, kicking 22.14.
And In 2017 he kicked 26.16
So his performance this year both in front of the goals and as a match winner around the ground are not a surprise at all.
While thats true, this year Trac was averaging 0.75 goals per game before the match. It was a masive step up and his highest goals return of his career.

Some funny vision was Spargo sitting on the bench and has a chat on the phone. Was it to the Coach? 'Cos Goody was sitting right behind him (also on the phone). LOL
Saw that at the time and had a chuckle but I don't think it was Goodwin, I think he handed that off to Richo in the box and was listening in.

Better than the one gate they had open last year.Better than the one ticket booth gate they had last year.- 1

Disagree. If our players worked hard enough, the Bulldogs can't switch to anyone and look up and have easy transition down the other side of the ground. It's simply not a coaching thing. It's a work rate thing on our mids and forwards.
It is precisely when your coach can see that the work rate is down that he needs to step forward and, just perhaps, put a stopper on the opposition player who even though he only played 80% match time kicked a goal, gained 742 metres, had 7 inside 50s and 2 goal assists.

Agree, red.
I don't know why supporters are so focused on the tagging aspect.
Bont was the second highest rated player on the ground, had 742 metres gained (highest on the ground by 150 metres) and 2 direct goal assists (also highest on the ground).
Edit: Oh, and 7 inside 50's (highest on the ground)

Exactly. Maybe someone in the media should remind Hardwick of that incident and why Schwarz was so upset ("crying")

There was another camera angle. They only showed it once, iirc a least a quarter later. Shows Long lining Simmonds up from 20-30 metres away charging full tilt for the hip to the top of the head. An absolute disgrace. Never cared what anyone said since - despise Long.

... except that's not what the rules say:
https://aflua.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020-Laws-of-Australian-Football.pdf
Unless otherwise stated in these Laws, a Free Kick can be awarded at any location on the Arena and shall be taken where it is awarded or where the football is at the time, whichever is the greater penalty against the offending Team. For the avoidance of doubt, Free Kicks awarded outside the Playing Surface will be taken at the nearest location on the Boundary Line or where the football is at the time, whichever is the greater penalty against the offending Team.

Watching the 3 second GIF on Jon Ralph's twitter about 17 times after my 4th scotch I do think it was probably front on contact and a free but the downfield I just can't get my head around.
AFL Rules state that if the ball is kicked OOB and a free kick is awarded before that happened, the Free kick is to be taken from where the infringement happened (where Docherty was hit), OR where the ball crossed the line, whichever is the greater penalty.

Respectfully disagree, Brayshaw was in the air trying to smother. Didn't even hit him high. Play on.
Leave the ground and take responsibility. Front on contact, late, I thought high but perhaps not.

Both decision correct imo. Taberner just tapped it straight out of bounds and Brayshaw smashed into Docherty well after disposal.

That sounds brilliant. Can you write it down on a napkin and post the play for us??
It was quite similar to the below video. A stoppage with more congestion, less opposition involvement, but the same result.

In basketball teams are drilled and drilled on general sef plays, so much so they become instinctive and teams naturally go them all the time. However teams also practice set plays specifically for clutch moments.
My basketball team won a tournament final against the host team many years ago with a clutch set play that our coach has us start practicing 3 months before the tournament. I remember thinking 'this is a good play but when are we ever going to use it' . 2.4 seconds was all we needed. Even the (local) time keeper trying to put us off by pretending not to know the rules around when to start the clock couldn't stop the inevitable.
