Wy did they give away 14,27,35 for 11 … must be working on a trade offer?

Must be. Interesting to see how it plays out. Personally I'd prefer the picks we have done well in the mid to late second round with bowey, rivers, petty, sparrow recently

Interestingly we have freed up a $mill in CAP space.

Its been mooted by posters that we may make a play for GWS pick 7 and Nick Haynes.

Nick Haynes? He's. 31 and what would be for us ? Third tall behind/ in front of disco and thommo can't see why unless he's free

Wouldn't have thought a small forward would be high on their priority list given they had Bobby Hill, Jack Ginnivan, Jamie Elliott & Beau McCreery all playing in their GF team.

Elliot is 31, Ginnivan is looking like he is not 1st choice , McCreery is avearge and a bad kick at goal. Bobby Hill had a great finals series but inconsistent.

I'd take schulze over all of the above @ the Dee's . He is a tough smart forward and just what we need, bummer he will end up at the filth

AFL northern academy is a big rort. “Must grow the game nationally”.  Three teams in finals (including runner up over 2022 and 2023) and 4th team now cleaning up picks and priority youngsters.  Gold Coast had a deep list of strong youngsters. If they get it together under Dimma, they’ll be finals bound next year.

Add that rort to the long list that includes compensation pick formula, fixturing etc . AFL is the most compromised professional sports league in the world.

  5. 1 X top 10 and 2 X top 20 picks (second one could be high depending on dogs season next year) for pick 4 is a high price IMHO. Id prefer the 3 picks. They must be really keen on someone and think that we are keen on them as well.

I thought Viney would be on more votes than that... so considering Clarry gets injured, you'd think Trac will run away with it pretty easily... Chandler falls away in form too

Looks right to me. Viney was our best in the second half of the year I expect him to come home really strong and win it out at least be second

  7. Paperwork lodged apparently , off to Sydney. No details of length of contract.

For a 22 year old , premiership player 65 games into a career and last game starting 22 in a final. I'd be disappointed with anything less than pick after our second round pick

  8. Right now negative Melbourne stories are getting clicks.

think about it, in the biggest AFL market it's all about what is going to generate clicks and interaction to radio etc.

At this time of year it is trades and sensational,  negative narratives (which is the default setting for clicks)

Of the big clubs that do generate clicks

Collingwood -  just won the flag, wont be them

Carlton -  fairytale run to a prelim, wont be them

Richmond - just hired a new coach after a 3 flag dynasty, wont be them

Geelong - been up for 15+ years won a flag last year and have a media darling as a coach , wont be them

Essendon, have not been relevant enough on the field for too long and had their turn at bad press last year now coached by media and afl darling wont be them.

Now that leaves us, 2 straight set exits , the grundy piece, rumblings and negative press about goodwin, now  oliver

we have been up the top with a flag but it looks like (or they can create a narritive) that it could be imploding = Clicks.

If it was another melbourne based club in the same situation they would be doing the same it isn't targeted because they have an agenda against the MFC

I especially like it when journo's quote each other as 'sources'.  I reckon there would be merit in a blog that scrutinises AFL journo's, kind of like the media watch program.

Yeah the great line they always use is " the player X to club y talk just won't go away" . That's because they are the ones who keep talking about it to fill airtime, after just usually making up the rumour or getting it off a fan forum in the first place.

As for Rory Lobb, run away as fast as you can. He plays 3 or 4 decent matches a season.

That's being generous. Softest bloke going around if you think Schace is lacking in his appetite for the contest this bloke is a while other level

  11. I consciously stopped consuming most footy media other than some demons and footy podcasts that I was interested.

I used to consume 360, on the couch, SEN , Classified (worst of the lot) each week and watch something pretty much everyday. It's mostly toxic rubbish

Other than gameday Demons games and the odd big game, I didn't watch any football shows and it certainly made the year more enjoyable.

  12. It really should be,  play each team once, alternate home and away each year. Especially once Tasmania come in. Will never happen but each game would attract more interest and be a fairer competition

  13. Well prepare to be disappointed.

That, one away game with Essendon and an interstate game in the last round are MFC fixture locks every year. Personally I'm hoping for less night games yes good for club exposure etc but I hate attending them other than Anzac eve and finals.

  14. Collingwood the first team I can remember to just hang in there for the campaign and get it done. Usually 1 team had a great September and plays great footy in the finals to get it done. Collingwood not so much. A premiership is a premiership but a really forgettable one for the neutrals
