The curious case of Ollie Greeves.

He has talent. No doubt. He wins the footy. He’s smart. He kicks it 50+ metres. He’s good handball options. Big bodied mid. Led the Ranges to the premiership. Was certainly considered to be a top 5 pick with his carnival and some big high possession/multiple goalkicking. He simply dominated some games.

But his dominance has led to queries about his defensive side. In the AFL midfield, you have to be able to win it or defend it. Greeves missed the draft combine. His pace is being seriously questioned? Fairly or not, his two way running is raised as a concern. His pace also with the footy was seen late in the year as lacking and likely to struggle to step up to AFL. Again fair or not, footballers can be footballers but need the athletic quotient to still be there.

Greeves might be the absolute steal of 2025 but who’s taking the punt?

disposal also not the great. Sounds like a Luke Dunstan type

Am i the only one that doesnt see it in Nairn?

Had 1 good game in the U18 champs and now hes going to be pick 7 or 8???

I would prefer Josh Lindsay by a mile, his kicking is sublime, exactly what we need.

Our recruiters are experts in studying young talent and have a high strike rate % at the top end. They wouldn't be "fooled" by one good game. I am totally OK with whoever they pick I am every year .

'Nairn was a key member of South Australia’s undefeated national champs campaign — and he produced one of the best individual performances of the carnival, booting 7.0 from 10 disposals and five marks against WA playing as a mid-sized forward.'

    Seven straight!

    Be still my beating heart.

we'll fix his suspect kicking action within the pre season 😅

  4. Was great to see a group of the boys running around before the official start of training. Led by Tmac what a legend he is. Refusing to let age dictate him out of the game. I hope King plays players on merit as Tmac deserves a go and if plays to last year's standard to keep his spot . No reason this season has to be his last

Seeing a lot of commentary about trading tge picks. Tim Lamb yesterday specifically stated that they would not be trading them because they are not allowed to.

I thought you could up until and even on draft night

With trac butchering the footy for them there's no limit to how low they can go in 2026.

this lets hope he is bombing it into 50 .or resting forward with sub 40% accuracy.

the draw will be intersting they should get a tougher draw than last year but it's a fixture so who knows what the AFL will throw up.

Ever chance rnd 1 (or zero or 2 or opening round or whatever the hell it is)is melbourne v GC on the GC with a blockbuster 14K people there

  7. Thankful for the contribution and that amazing 5 year period he was elite.

He kinda lost me after that comment about crowds, I didn't know why but I took it personally. We have a great core of 25k out at that are there most weeks. Sure but Collingwood level size wise but we are passionate and loud.

Gc will be a while be experience for him. Enjoy no crowd, atmosphere and gc traffic!! Unless he lives near Carrara (which isn't a suburb for people like trac) he'll be in the car more than he was getting to Casey

Fresh start on the field and off the field. I’m excited about 2026. Even if it ends up being a full on rebuild at least we won’t have that banging the head against the wall making the same mistakes over and over again feeling.

I feel exactly the same. 24/25 it was clear 2021 strategy and players declining wasn't going to turn around

I don't get all the carry on about picks getting pushed out due to father/son or academy selections.
eg picks 7/8 going to 11/12

Academy and father/sons aren't players we or any of the other 16 clubs would have had access to, so what difference does it make?

We still get the 7th and 8th crack at the best of what is available.

    Amen jtr.

Good news - 3 firsts. Bad news, it’s a bit like Jezza Cameron for Conor Stone, Ryan Angwin and Brayden Cook.

JT - please work some magic!

I'd back JT to hit on at least 2 if not all three of those

Guessing we're going to have to wait until 1900-1930 for the Petracca and Oliver trades.

Fair chance the are already agreed in principale and afl told clubs to email it in just before or during the Fox footy live show
