  1. Please don't post your answers on this thread. PM only please!
  2. Yes, take tomorrow off @Spargonicus. In fact, have the whole week off. You've earned it.
  3. Congratulations to @Tim who is the first to solve the mystery.
  4. We're in the middle of a ten (or nine ) day break and things are pretty quiet around here. As threatened, here's another brainteaser to help you while away a lazy Sunday with no FTA footy to distract us. This team of past Melbourne players goes back as far as the 1960s but, while it contains several very good footballers, isn't a champion side by any measure. The idea of naming just two reserves was such a success last time (Sez who? Sez me! ) I'm running with it again. The players all have something in common. What might that be, Demonlanders? Usual rules apply: Answers in a PM only, clues provided if and when I think they're necessary and prizes are non-existent. =================================================================== B: Des O'Dwyer Troy Broadbridge Paul Hopgood H/B: Frank Davis Matthew Bate Ray Carr C: Stephen Tingay Cameron Bruce Billy Stretch H/F: Andrew Lamprill Tony 'Spud' Dullard Colin Sylvia F: Jeff Farmer Dave McGlashan Brent Heaver R: Leigh Newton Brock McLean Andy Lovell 19th: James Magner 20th: Peter Tossol

Your home-delivered liquor arrived? Get stuck into it!
  6. I guess it's a matter of semantics, binny. It's nine days of not playing but ten days between games.
  7. I agree @Jaded No More. No matter how you count the number of days in the break, we are copping the rough end of the pineapple here.
  8. What you call a 9 day break is what most of us would call a 10 day break - 12/6 to 22/6. If you play on consecutive Saturdays, that is seen as a 7 day break (ie. a week between games). Using your method, it would be 6 days as you only count the days that no football is played by the team.

As a Rolling Stones fanatic, it is my melancholy duty to inform you that there is a young draft prospect from the Oakleigh Chargers called *shudders violently* Jagga Smith.
  10. Did anybody else notice the surprised faces on his teammates when the ground announcer introduced Jack as the winner of the Neale Daniher Trophy by calling him "Captain Courageous"?
  11. Cameron is 196cm but was kept very quiet last night by the 189cm Miles Bergman, who obviously conceded height but was able to win the battle because his running capacity meant he could keep up with Cameron. Hibbo is 187cm and Riv 188cm so (in theory) such matchups could work, possibly by rotating the pair.
  12. He was sighted alright. The MRP saw it. Thankfully, just a fine for Salo.
  13. Not necessarily. A defender can have a great game simply by keeping a star forward opponent goalless.
  14. Nice little write up on Juddy on the AFL site. I think people are starting to take notice. https://www.afl.com.au/news/949519/run-with-it-grandfather-s-touch-helps-demon-take-his-chance
  15. The expression "all duck or no dinner" essentially means all or nothing.
  16. It can't be a straight swap because JJ was the sub. Somebody else has to come out of the 22.
  17. Sheesh, is that all? What a misleading headline.
  18. The Currant Bun has a story explaining the Petracca/Cox post-siren contretemps. Can somebody with access give us a quick rundown please?
  19. On a positive note, we've never lost a King's Birthday game in the AFL era.
  20. JJ was the sub today. Somebody else will have to come out of the starting 22 for Clarry.

I hope you can find a decent tattoo artist. Those ones you have aren't very good at all IMO. Is that skinny bloke in the second one Robbie Flower?
  22. This still feels so, so wrong.

Spare a thought for Ryan Maric, who was picked up by West Coast in the Mid-Season Draft.
  24. I think Robbie's injury was to his shoulder/collarbone after being collected by Dipper. He could barely raise his arm and I doubt he could have played the next week. We'll never know, alas.
