  1. I wrote the following about JVR in the Casey thread: "JVR was solid in conditions that didn’t suit. His competitiveness, willingness to put his body on the line, and bring others into the play, are all attributes we currently don’t have forward of centre in the ‘ones’. Low possessions, but he didn’t do his chances any harm." It might be a bit soon, but given our need for another tall forward, I'd take a punt, in tandem with either BBB or Weid.
  2. My thoughts (from TV) on those who seemed to be around the mark for senior selection: Bowey an excellent game where his class shone through. On that performance, would be pushing hard for a senior return. Chandler was good. I haven’t been a fan, but 4 goals to back up his recent returns, must put him very close to earning another opportunity. JVR was solid in conditions that didn’t suit. His competitiveness, willingness to put his body on the line, and bring others into the play, are all attributes we currently don’t have forward of centre in the ‘ones’. Low possessions, but didn’t do his chances any harm. Lawrie just okay in conditions that I thought should have suited him. Was hoping for more based on recent form. Dunstan is the obvious replacement if we need a big bodied mid in the ‘ones’, but ball use will always be his problem. Hunt was solid and showed good run / carry on a few occasions. Probably enjoyed the freedom of not having a ‘lock down’ role. Turner did his job capably after a month on the sidelines. A very slim possibility to travel to Perth if Lever doesn’t get up, but probably needs another run.
  3. I was very surprised when I read his numbers. I watched the game (TV) and didn’t think he did that much. Thought he had an okay game, especially given his long lay off, but nothing like what is suggested by those stats.
  4. Tough assignment ……….. lots of chaff / not much wheat! 6. Brayshaw 5. Gawn 4. Oliver 3. Hibberd 2. Fritsch 1. May
  5. Draw = best possible outcome for the Dees.
  6. Tough game, and a huge effort from the boys if we can get up. Our team defence will need to be at its very best, because it’s hard to see us mustering a large score. Predictions: * Dees to make a (mini) statement with a 9 point win; * Clarrie to make up for lost time with yet another ‘best on’ performance; * woe be betide any dog who happens into Jack Viney’s path; * the Skipper to snag 3
  7. The odds are against us tomorrow evening. If we win it will be huge .... a sign that the Demon spirit is emerging in time for September.
  8. Fairly predictable team I guess, but Tommo is very unlucky imo. Maybe he will be medi-sub, or possibly replace Rick Lever, if he fails a late test before the game.
  9. We all did, but when he comes back on Saturday evening, he will be in the mood to eat a Sherrin!
  10. I thought the following snippet from the Mongrel Punt was as gem, and well worth sharing with Demonland friends: "There were multiple “little things” moments that seemed to fall the way of the Dees in this game. Make no mistake – this is not luck. It’s amazing how the harder you work, the luckier you get, huh?"
  11. Thanks for another enjoyable poddy folks, and especially for taking the time to canvass the issues confronting our forward line in the absence of TMac.
  12. Gutted for Eliza. Fortunately the prognosis for complete recovery is very positive.
  13. This is an obvious question, but I think it warrants detailed analysis going into September. Our forward half just isn’t working right now, and hasn’t for much of the season (or at least since TMac was injured). Do the panel see this as primarily a personnel problem, a form problem, a problem of cohesion, or a problem with our entries? Is it too late in the season to experiment with different personnel? The recent ‘experiments’ (Weid, M.Brown, Melksham, Bedford) haven’t borne much fruit.
  14. 6. Kozzie - career best game. No Kozz, no win! 5. Petracca 4. Langdon 3. Viney 2. Hibberd 1. Tomlinson
  15. I thought Tomlinson was good, which is significant. He might be needed next week, even with the likely inclusion of Petty. If I’m not mistaken, Rick Lever winced when he tried to put his arm around a teammates shoulder during the song. It was only a fleeting moment. I think I’m correct, but obviously hope I’m wrong.
  16. Good teams win when they are well below their best. That was us today! Hopefully it’s a step towards our best.
  17. Nah. King has been reading Demonland.
  18. Almost everything from the Dees seems half hearted.
  19. I’m nervous but hopeful. Mild MFCSS.
  20. It's always very sad to hear of the passing of a Club icon. RIP.
  21. Thanks guys. Win, lose or draw, I always enjoy the Demonland Podcast.
  22. 6. Brayshaw 5. Viney 4. Petty 3. Petracca 2. Oliver 1. Langdon
  23. We were outplayed, pure and simple! Couldn’t hold a tackle in the back half when it counted, couldn’t hit a target or kick a goal in the front half when it counted. Couldn’t win a clearance when it counted. Too many players well below their best.! No excuses! Can’t even blame the umps or the 5 day break. Disappointed, but we will learn and regroup. It will be different in September!
