You seem to know about the draft a fair bit, I am pretty below knowledgeable on the workings of it. Who do you reckon we land, lose (including draft picks)? I’m curious to see what you think on our list post draft deadline.

I’m hopeful we get people in, but tbh I think we won’t be getting many players in at all. We will probably get some draft picks and that’s about all. I think our list will mainly be the same. Hope I am wrong and we get some jets in.

Hopefully can keep up his influence in games, I have noticed when he’s tagged hard we have no other real influential players who stand up. Ripper player, glad he’s here on contract and hope he doesn’t break it anytime soon.

Was there not rumour of a new role, such as the one that would replace Alan Richardson, additionally that it might be Jimmy Bartel as the front runner? Is that still a thing or thrown out?

Yeh, well I imagine they said he would play. I guess he would move for more money but if they said you’re playing twos he may not have moved. Guess don’t know. Hopefully he goes well and it’s a good fit for both the club and him/his family.

Same here, gut feeling that Laurie won’t get a crack. Feel like he is doing great in VFL and below average in AFL and needs to display a lot more. He also just needs a few more opportunities which he wasn’t getting under Goody.

Very true. Hopefully when he does, it ramps up and we get some players in other than ones already mentioned.

Yup. Totally irrelevant. I don’t think we are a poor club but if we are being outbid by St Kilda on Flanders who they just spent a BOAT load on three players, we are doomed. We need to use our heads, spend some coin on GOOD players and not duds to fill the list. I’d be shocked at this point if we come close to 12th. I predict we will sit around 15th. If we get some decent picks, we might go alright. If they don’t make good changes and we have the same average team, with Petty forward etc etc I predict we also drop in membership for another year running.

I somewhat agree. But we aren’t going to bed able to rebuild with no new players. We might have to bite the bullet on some. The incoming cohort aren’t really flashy by any stretch leaving us with the same look, same average output and probably bottom 6 again. I significantly hope I am wrong but I am concerned with the changes or lack thereof. I do trust Kingy, and I believe he will bring a really fresh outlook. My concern lies with the players list, they have proven that they are very average ball users and are becoming complacent. Just adding in, I would also be happy to see us pay overs for a couple good players, just keep them to short contracts with trigger clause to extend. It gets the fans in, gets excitement up and belief in the team.

I guess I am, but not from an age point of view. Trac wasn’t a gun for a few years in, Flanders might hit full potential soon too. I guess either way you look, both could be a bust or get injured, no way of knowing. But if Trac isn’t interesting in staying, then may as well look for someone who is and is invested. (Obviously that’s unknown, just going off media stories). I’m happy with either tbh, as long as we get the best out of whoever is on the list.

Great read, I always really liked Goody. I’m still a bit sad he’s not there. I’m glad he was able to reflect like that and see exactly what we all saw which was that the club was stagnant and not improving like your Hawthorns and Geelongs etc. Respect to him and again wish him well at his new club.

Crazy isn’t it, he either has dropped form tremendously or hasn’t adjusted to the team, state or gameplay. Glad we missed out as you said.

Lots wouldn’t be but I’d be happy with that. Trac getting old and Flanders is young and can be molded with the new game plan. Flanders isn’t on Tracs level but has more longevity for the club.

Didn’t see any of his gameplay but looks like a promising big lad. Hope to see him next year.
