CASEY: Rd 21 vs Box Hill Hawks
Sinnema is class and will be a player, can't wait to see him develop. I still think we should offer Bonner a rookie spot to release Salem or Bowey up the field.

Mate, sinking ship and you'll be shouting from the mast any excuse for this club. It's wild.

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Agree entirely. Man is a Goliath and it's hard to criticise him given the way he's been carrying us on and off the field. But geez his grabbing it out of the ruck to slam it on the boot is no better than Viney, Trac or Oliver scrap kicking forward. It's that 'run out of ideas' look and desperation. A bad habit.

You did after we were 0-5. Its not about Collingwood love. It's about what I value and many others value. Not just CONTEST AND DEFENCEEEEEEE.

PODCAST: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
I love that there are still questions regarding our fitness hahaha. Today showed exactly why Goodwin was moved on. He has continued to play mostly the same players, in the same positions and tried to shift the way we play to follow suit. Posters fell in love with the fact we started moving the ball 'realllllly quickly' from the back half to the forward half. Forgetting that you still need to actually hit targets at the end of the chain and kick goals... Only a minor detail that we've been chasing for how long? Today, Hawthorn showed us more than just a loss. Sam Mitchell. A player of sublime skill but also a player who is uncompromising in his competitiveness showed the MFC again that you simply cannot expect to play a long term sustainable brand of football without a blend of attributes across the list. The difference between skill, touch, finesse, forwards who are natural at their craft, etc etc was just stark today. It's a premium that Sam Mitchell has put on his recruiting and development team. It's modern day footy. Something we haven't. Poor old Chaplin is just playing a copy and paste starting 22 with Goodwin instruction. And binners thinks we're one elite kick away from turning this thing around?! And that a swingman at under 18's level (Van Rooyen) is an out and out gun forward! I mean come onnnnnn guys. Take the goggles off!! My question for pod with goggles off. How many senior players do you think need to be moved on over the off-season for us to be able to make a GENUINE impact going forward with our younger brigade? Trac, Oliver, Sparrow, Langdon, May, Viney, Sharp. The skill level is unbelievably bad on a consistent basis. Langdon's skill level was genuinely unbelievable today. I'm talking C grad amos 2's. Who will call it out?! Who?!

Just get back to telling us all how we're going to bounce back hard this season. Chur.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Defence is amateur hour because every good offensively minded side know how to play us. They know a turnover is a only moments away so they are super proactive to get on the offensive which creates space, for everyone. We are the opposite.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
We compete hard, that's rarely the issue. It's everything else and always has been. And now that we no longer have a dominant gamplan suited to the list. We are being found out even more. It's really easy to see what's wrong. Look at how difficult we make a pickup, a handball, a kick vs Hawthorn. We have a team who for the 1000th time, all share similar weaknesses. Which is why it's rinse and repeat.

Another player who butchers kicks? Nice.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Did I just see Viney scrap kick forward when he could have handballed?! Resulting in a direct opposition goal?! Unbelievable!

When are we likely to win a flag again based on stats? Maybe you should follow another team?!

Remember that part of my post where I said for a 'number' of reasons? And then I gave an example of one of the lesser reasons? Orrrrr did you not read the post properly due to those red and blue lenses getting in the way? Also, G'day @john delosa Hope you've got some thoughts of your own somewhere behind those one mouse clicks!

I've always admired him as a player and coach. Not dissimilar to Goody when we brought him across. It's not about whether I like him or not. My perspective on it comes from what I think is best for this current group of players. And I think Buckley of all prospective coaches could get the biggest spike from our senior group. That's for a number of reasons, a lesser one including the fact that Fritsch and Trac were both mad Collingwood supporters growing up. I think having a coach who holds court, has big aura and gravitas will mean that senior players will be much more inclined to step in line, want to earn respect and naturally standards will lift. Whether one believes it or not, psychologically there is a lift when you bring a head coach in with aura. What's equally as important are the types of line coaches we bring in. We have clearly been left wanting in that area over the last few years. It's another reason where I think standards have slipped. It all got just way too matesie under Goody toward the end. Accountability was just not there as was evidenced by selection, underperforming players continuing to play at senior level and not much change positionally speaking which clearly led to a plateau for a number of players. There are so many reasons why I think Buckley is the right guy but as I said, I think equally important will be the rest of the coaching group. As for game-plan and the idea that Buckley is 'past' it. I just think it's a furphy. You listened to him speak, he is on so many footy programs and he is completely up to date with the current trends of AFL footy. It's as if some think he's been on a different sport this entire time. And lastly, for those that are fearful of the statistics around second-time coaches becoming premiership coaches, I'll ask you this question. Why are you following the MFC if statistics for success are going to drive whether or not you'll jump on board?!

Goody was class on 360. Served us well, won us a flag. But god there are some worry worts on here. We needed a change, it was plain to see. Time to welcome Buckley with a beefed up assistant brigade.

Trade Targets
As for the Windhager news, I'm in disbelief we're interested. Another athlete who is built like Tarzan but his weakness? Footskills and decision making! Unless we know one of trac, Viney or Oliver are going I just can't understand why we'd be interested. So Melbourne.

I disagree. Perhaps he wasn't using it as well as he can for a period there but he's strengths are his footskills and run. I'd say his weaknesses are more around the defensive and contested aspects of his game. If he was to play the correct role in this current trend of footy, I genuinely think he'd be an asset. Make him a distributor, give him kick outs and licenstto run. Especially if it means we can move some of our better users to a half forward or pocket. As good as Bowey has been as a defender, I would absolutely love to see him played forward of the ball. I think he is completely untapped in that regard. He played a lot of forward in his unders and he is so dangerous with the ball. Something like this is a must for us going forward. Our forward line is way too vanilla.

Been thinking. Hear me out. Riley Bonner in our VFL side. A player who is 28, silky skills and a mature head. Has played at the level. Has had a great year from what I've gathered. Wrong place wrong time across his career kind of thing? I'd also say that given our list, given the way the game is currently being played and given he's already embedded in Melbourne and in our VFL side, would it be crazy to offer him a lifeline in the hope that we could release Salem or Bowey to a half forward/pocket over the off-season? A cheaper option and a player who would cost nothing but a list spot. Can set us up at half back and potentially give a more senior player or at the least, a player who is highly skilled a new lease on life in the forward line? Bowey and Salem both played half forward in their unders. And their skill set is something we're crying out for in that area of the ground. And if we don't trade Salem, I really think it could be a circuit breaker for him. I'd much prefer a player with high footy IQ and great ball use in that position over an elite runner. Sure you have to be defensively minded but [censored] me if we had players who could use the ball through the middle of the ground and at half forward, we'd be okay. And the instruction should be for our poor users to give to great users at all costs anyway. Get some quality users on the wings and at half forward and we'd look a lot better.

Do you have Intel on this or is this just a hunch?

Yeh, I mean he's got some admirable running ability but we need to move past this type of player now. Lindsay has running capacity and foot skills. Is there anyone who kicks the ball out on the full as much is Langdon? It's wild.
