  1. On the question of whether and when Shane McAdam gets a game with Melbourne, I would suggest that it will be later rather than sooner. If the club has already decided that he plays with Casey this week, then it’s highly unlikely that he would saddle up four days later against Carlton. The next opportunity would be against the Eagles in Round 10 (May 19) which is 3 weeks away.

Poor Casey might need to pick some Demonlanders to play for them this week.

Casey have the week off due to the representative state game on Saturday between the SANFL and the VFL which is part of the Gather Round.

  3. I have a feeling that Tholstrop is going to be one of those players who will relish playing in the AFL when he gets there. For that reason, I think it might be worthwhile for him to be earmarked for an early debut at the MFC … provided he keeps on performing at the same level as his debut for Casey. I reckon he’s definitely a goer who could play 200 games at Melbourne.

Please don’t let him become mired playing on a half forward line in an underperforming team.

That quote, allegeldy from someone close to the investigation and implied by the article to be employed by Sports Integrity Australia was downright defamatory, insulting, destructive and vindictive.

The fact that someone, implied by the article, to be employed by an organisation with 'Integrity' in their name would even utter those words, in that order, aloud to anyone is disgraceful. As is any media organistion that blatantly and sensationally trotted them out. It is also a complete act of cowardice that no name was attributed to such 'strong words'

The fact that the club and the AFL have constantly been saying they are not at liberty to discuss the case yet that quote  (and article entirely) makes it to print implies to me there is far too little 'Integrity' at Sports Integrity Australia, in my opinion.

I could be wrong but I thought it was simply an “unnamed source”. How do you think that the source was implied to be coming from SIA?

  5. Castlemaine is a lovely part of the world. I lived there for a while but it was badly hit by a drought some years ago. Ron never played for Castlemaine but it produced some great VFL/AFL footballers:

    • Jack ‘Skinny’ Titus, Richmond (VFL), 1926-1943 (294 games).

    • Ronald ‘Ron’ James Barassi Snr (VFL), 1936–1940 (58 games).

    • Warren "Wow" Jones, Carlton and St Kilda (VFL), 1978–85 (123 games).

    • Rod Keogh, Melbourne and St Kilda (VFL/AFL), 1989-1998 (82 games).

    • Dustin Martin, Richmond (AFL), 2010-present (289 games).

    • Kane Farrell, Port Adelaide (AFL), 2018-present (33 games).

In the 2009 AFL draft, Melbourne chose Tom (?) and Jack Trengove with the first two picks of the draft. Dustin Martin was third pick.

I wonder how much connection there is between the Casey coaching panel and Melbourne when the player who is the first player to be delisted wins the B & F?

Of course it helps if you play every game in the season.

    How did AMW go?

  7. My concern with faceless officials making decisions such as these is the random way with which events can be picked up and decisions arrived at which can influence the outcome of a game. In addition, there’s the question of where you draw the line. If you can review goals that have been missed by your on field officials – four field umpires, two goal and two boundary umpires, then why not review whether a player in the vicinity was pushed in the back or taken high?

There are enough officials on the ground as it is without complicating the game further with these reviews.

  8. Could someone please explain how the review of Alex Neal-Bullen’s “non goal” worked?

It was paid as a goal. The ball was taken to the centre and then a review took place in which it was deemed to have been touched after a quick review. I thought it was inconclusive.

    Where’s Hibbo at the moment?

Can he break into the team?

Was concussed in the final round against Brisbane Lions and would be following the protocols. At best, he would only be 50/50 to play with Casey this week.
