Whenever I read about players training away from the main group, I get the feeling that there’s a mystery injury of the week brewing. When the player in question has been named in a position with which he’s not usually familiar, the feeling grows in intensity. Bayley Fritsch at CHB? No way. The stage is being set for someone like Daniel Turner to slip into defence and hopefully return to the form he was showing in the first half of last year’s QB block buster (with no injuries this time please).
My MFCSS has been eased slightly by the fact that North have beaten us to the mystery injury of the week when they withdrew Luke Davies-Uniacke who has a heel problem.

Mate, you missed my point; some posters are alluding to pick 3 being just as good as pick 1 but Lamb and Taylor don’t seem to think like that - they go up the draft to get a specific player ie. Oliver and Pickett.
True but there’s a good chance that this year’s specific player is Harley Reid. A lot of good judges think that if he had been available for last year’s draft, he might have been taken with pick 1.

End of Round 6.
Dees have most points for, and 6th fewest against. Pies and Bombers dropped significant % today.
Doesn't mean much at present but leaves a nice feeling till at least Saturday evening.
We’re second in points for - Geelong have 2 points more than us.
-
That sort of defeat is demoralizing.
Season over for the Bombers. They won’t make the finals.

Tom McDonald’s last game for the year … coincided with our fall from premiership favourite to not even getting in the preliminary finals.

I can't believe Brown is in the 2's should be in the seniors.
The three players coming back into the Melbourne team from injuries this week (Gawn, Hibberd and Lever) are all mature age players. The selectors might have wanted to maintain a balance of youth and experience especially given that sometimes the older players take time getting back to top form.

Kicking efficiency in his performance in this game leaves a lot to be desired - will keep an eye on this when I see him playing in the future.

Corey Wagner will make his debut with the Dockers tomorrow night, 1329 days after he last played for Melbourne.

I just wish we'd give the TS thing a little rest. Barass himself set out the template by exiting the back door in December 1964 with a premiership and best and fairest medal in his pocket. I think he played in 6 premierships and captained two. Followed the money when our playing list started to deplete. He didn't have a job for life/super benefits etc that many people have. He was idolised in the red and blue, then just vanished.
RDB played 204 games, won 6 flags and captained the club. In that era, he had done enough to go elsewhere to follow the dream of coaching his own team and to make a few dollars for his superannuation.
Tom Scully hadn’t achieved a thing before he did his runner.

It’s a pity they’re playing this game in Adelaide and not at the MCG. Would have had a bumper crowd.

Bad luck to Sam Weideman on getting concussion and missing out on playing this week. At least it means he can’t do a Jayden Hunt and star against his old team.

Does anyone know the nature of Kye Turner‘s injury? I don’t think he was mentioned in the weekly injury report.
He would have been handy against his former club.

It’s time that we had a dedicated thread where we can discuss the people in the football media.
First cab off the rank is this man who already has his eyes on the supporters’ Media Fool of the Year.
Ch7 commentator Brian Taylor goes too far, is complete laughing stock
The article makes a very good point. I watched the game last night and listening to Taylor, I really thought that Collingwood won the game.

When was the last time we played West Coast Eagles in Melbourne?
-
Meanwhile, Casey’s premiership coach Mark Corrigan who now coaches Geelong’s VFL team is under the pump up on the Gold Coast where his Cats are down by 13 goals late in the third quarter.

The circumstances are that we’re badly depleted in the ruck division and Tom McDonald appears to be struggling to hold his place in the team so, irrespective of the long term vision as to who plays where, it would seem sensible to consider some short term solutions to an immediate problem.
Moving Harry Petty to KPF, including JvR as the second ruck to Brodie Grundy could be just the trick for this one game due to the circumstances.

Conspiracy
in Melbourne Demons

No conspiracy. The Hawks want every Melbourne player on deck next Saturday so that we can well and truly pants them in order to help the get Reid campaign.
