I like this thread and the way it promotes some good intelligent discussion about our list. Unfortunately, in the current climate, it probably won't last and next time I look will be on page 3 of DL.

There are enough threads around speculaing on much the same as this. I'm done with it.

Just as a matter of interest Bob, what's the difference between:-(a) keeping an injured player on your senior list and then putting him on your long term injury list and (b) delisting the player and picking him up as a rookie? Would there be advantages either way for a club or a player eg room in salary cap etc. (I assume the player gets paid either way).

I can reveal exclusively to all Demonlanders that part of the compensation the club will be giving Sydney is that, with effect from the close of the trade period (Thursday at 2.00pm), this site will be known as Swaneeland and our banner will feature the images of Bob Skilton, "Moose" Henwood and Paul Roos grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Our colour scheme will henceforth be red and white. As the OP says "you have to pay overs to get these sorts of deals done".

Whoever it is, I think I went to school with him. It was the School of Hard Knox.

Today's dramatic developments from Trade Radio Tom Boyd GWS forward Boyd will walk out of the club regardless of whether or not he is traded to the Western Bulldogs this year. His manager Liam Pickering confirming that if he doesn't leave this year, he will walk when his contract expires at the end of 2015. GWS says they welcome Pickering's comments that Boyd will honour his contract with the club in 2015. They have again confirmed they will not trade him under any circumstances this year. Dayne Beams … zzzz It is now only a matter of time before the deal to get Beams to the Brisbane Lions is done. Collingwood president Eddie McGuire confirming the deal had been ticked off, with Brisbane Lions midfielder Jack Crisp being added to the package as a "sweetener" for the Pies. Michael Voss Voss has joined Port Adelaide as its midfield manager filling the role vacated by Phil Walsh who departs to coach Adelaide. Jonathan Giles GWS ruckman Giles has nominated Essendon as his preferred new home. The Giants ruckman met with both the Bombers and the Crows this week, but decided the Bombers would be a better fit. Jack Trengove Former Melbourne captain Trengove will not be traded this season after he failed a medical examination yesterday. Trengove re-aggravated the navicular bone injury and the Tigers decided they would not pursue a trade for him.

Trade Radio Update (pre Trengove news) Brisbane Lions After snaring Geelong midfielder Allen Christensen yesterday, Brisbane could today add another classy player to its midfield, with Dayne Beams set to make the move to the Lions. Jack Crisp Despite the "deadline" passing last Friday for the Lions and Pies to do a deal on Beams, the addition of 21-year-old Brisbane player Crisp to the deal looks like getting it over the line. The Lions will offer Collingwood pick 5, 25 and Crisp to move Beams away from the Pies. Jaksch and Whiley Meanwhile, Carlton looks set to secure young GWS forward Kristian Jaksch and GWS midfielder Mark Whiley, with the Blues exchanging pick 7 for the duo. As part of the deal the Blues will also receive pick 19 from the Giants. Tom Boyd Despite significant fanfare about Boyd moving from the Giants to the Bulldogs yesterday, the Giants remain adamant that no deal will be done. The Bulldogs want to directly trade Ryan Griffen for Boyd, but GWS says that deal will not be happening. Adam Cooney Cooney appears destined to move to a new club before Thursday's 2pm deadline, with the Bulldogs reportedly prepared to pay some of his salary at a new club. The Herald Sun says he has met with both the Bombers and Kangaroos and passed medical tests with flying colours.

Kim Crow is also quoted here in this SMH article ~ AOC pushes for increase in doping bans This is the response to those who think that players found to have ingested banned drugs should get off lightly. The fact that AFL footballers are highly paid and in the limelight must not give them any privileges over and above those of any other sporting people in this country or anywhere else. -

THE TRADING CHRONICLES - SHOCK AND HORROR IN TRADE WEEK
Whispering_Jack replied to Demonland's topic in Special Features
The Oracle chose the song but I like it and what it once stood for. -
A day on which so much was expected and very little delivered. Tom Boyd GWS forward and former number one draft pick Boyd has officially requested to be traded from the club to the Western Bulldogs but the Giants say they will not trade him under any circumstances. Allen Christensen Christensen is officially a Brisbane player after the Cats traded him to the Lions in exchange for pick 21. Nick Malceski New Gold Coast recruit Malceski is confident of playing in another premiership at the Suns. Malceski arrived at the club this year as an unrestricted free agent. Jack Trengove Richmond has maintained its interest in former Melbourne captain Trengove. The Tigers are looking to trade their first round selection (currently pick 12) for Trengove and pick 23.

OK. There's a rumour going around that we're shopping Jack Watts around to Adelaide and Gold Coast but what's the trade deal we're supposed to be protesting about? Didn't Paul Roos say a little while ago that every player is potentially tradeable? Shouldn't we at least wait until we know if and what deal we're supposed to be looking at with regard to a Watts transfer before we start burning effigies of the coach and his recruiting staff?

Posters. Please stop your bickering. Thanks

Today we enter the final week of this year's NAB Trade and Free Agency period. And it looks like being another massive week! Several big names are all set to move clubs, with team officials frantically trying to get deals done before the 2pm deadline on Thursday. In what is the biggest pool ever of potential trades being done, we are expecting news on all of the following players this week: * Dayne Beams * Paddy Ryder * Heritier Lumumba * Mitch Clark * Adam Cooney * Jack Trengove * Ryan Griffen * Allen Christensen * Ryan Schoenmakers
-
More importantly, how many hours to go to the end of trade week?

Pakistan choke with a 2 wicket maiden final over from Glenn Maxwell. You wouldn't bet on a result like that, would you?

The notion that any club would allow information to be leaked onto a fan forum or that recruiting people would read what's put on here or take any notice of it is fanciful. At best, some people in the media might consult us on a quiet news day . That doesn't stop people from making educated guesses based on secondary information and coming up with some interesting conclusions, even if they're probably lacking in accuracy. Late last week, I received information suggesting that the Sydney Swans had some salary cap "issues". Shorty thereafter came the news (official) that the AFL has prevented the Swans from trading players in because of the phasing out of the COLA. If you put two and two together then you might conclude that they might be anxious to offload a high priced player to enable compliance with the TPP regime and next thing you know, people are posting that we're after specific players from that very same club. Sounds feasible but it's more likely a long shot and way off the mark. Sorry to disillusion some of you but in this Bizarroworld of trade week, two and two doesn't necessarily add up to four.

With the imminent announcement of agreement between Collingwood and Brisbane over Dayne Beams, we can expect the floodgates to open today and a raft of trades to be announced, including the fate of Mitch Clark and Heritier Lumumba. I suspect that the Jack Trengove story might take a little longer to play itself out and that it really is, as is suggested above, part of something bigger and more complex (and better for the club). It looks like our recruiting department has taken a far more proactive approach than ever before and I'm looking forward to the outcome, like many Demonlanders with great anticipation.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Whispering_Jack replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not just game, set and match Bing. This is the whole tournament. It explains why Dank refused to be interviewed and why there has been so much resistance on the part of many to allowing the truth to come out in the normal way, without interference or meddling of the various parties. This saga started because the ACC was investigating the importation of illegal substances into the country. The investigation followed the money trail as it usually does in these cases and found Dank and the Essendon Football Club. The Bombers and Hird really are, as the title to this thread says, <redacted>. I hope for their sake that the players take the best deal that's put on the table. I hope that Paddy Ryder gets cleared to the club of his choice today. I hope that the Essendon Board resigns en masse as soon as is practical. I hope that James Hird does the right thing and has nothing more to do with this sport. I hope that none of the players or their children suffer any after effects from the pharmacological regime they were subjected to. I hope Robbo apologises to the Essendon mother he accused of being a fiction. I hope the AFL's role in this story comes out as well and that it is not allowed the comfort of vindication. I hope we can go back to following a sport instead of a forensic examination. -
And let's not forget. The Hawk is a big bird.
