That man Setterfield goals and Sandringham go to a 31 point lead.
-
My boy Ashley Krakouer gets a goal for the Dragons after a period when Dandenong got on top.
-
First blood of the second half to the 'Rays Sam Fowler who looks like your typical little forward pest.
-
That's half time with Sandringham 6.6.42 leading Dandenong 2.6.18 and there's a bit of argy bargy going on between the players before they leave the ground.
-
Goal to Sandringham gives them a four goal lead into time on. Dandenong seem to be concentrating heavily on their big forward Battle but he's being outnumbered as the Sandy boys flood back and apply the pressure.
-
Apparently, he comes from Albury which is part of the zone allocated to the GWS Academy and is boarding at Caulfield Grammar, therefore with the Dragons. It's a sore point with me because the Ovens and Murray league area is an established football region and it therefore belies the idea of an academy to foster player development. Setterfield is dominating - he's a tallish mid who plays with composure. Ready to play AFL IMO. Maloney of the Dragons kicks his third - it's a 19 point lead.
-
Dandy get the first goal of the quarter through key forward Battle but Sandy replies - lead is 14 points.
-
Hamish Brayshaw going all right too.
-
A goal to Dandenong on the siren from a free to Sam Fowler makes it 8 to 20. The Dragons have some handy medium sized players such as Tim Taranto, Andrew McGrath and Will Setterfield, the latter is one of about 4 GWS Academy players who are likely top 20 draft picks.

My boy Corey Lyons accepts a pass from my boy Ashley Krakouer and the Dragons lead 2.2.14 to Stingrays 0.2.2.

That Fritsch is some cat!

Seems there are two close games on today. One in Sydney between GWS and the Swans and the other in the VFL Development League.

Semi Final weekend in the TAC Cup and my interest still lies with the Sandringham Dragons although they have their work cut out tomorrow against the Dandenong Stingrays. Here are the AFL Draft Central scouting notes from last weekend's games -SCOUTING NOTES: SUNDAY’S TAC CUP FINALS. This brings me to my feature player from the Dragons:- "#7 Corey Lyons– One of Lyons’ best games for the season, kicking the winning goal with a few minutes to go. Had a few clangers but propelled the Dragons inside 50 on multiple occassions. He finished with 30 disposals and his kicking was better than what he’s been at stages throughout the year." Lyons is the brother of Adelaide's Jarryd who is currently out of contract. Their father Marty played for the club in the 1970s. On the Dandenong Stingrays side my interest will be on Morrish Medal runner up Danny Allsop who would become a Category B rookie candidate for Melbourne if not picked up in the forthcoming drafts. And one of the Stingrays players #8 M La Fontaine has a famous name from Melbourne's history. Anyone know if he's related? I agree that Watson must lose his Brownlow if the CAS decision is upheld. I also believe that in that event the AFL would be duty bound as a matter of integrity to reconsider its decision to allow Essendon to reap the benefit of the suspension of 12 of its players by still being eligible for the #1 draft pick. Of course, if the appeal decision is handed down in November, the AFL will no doubt say that it's too late to do anything and the Bombers can keep the benefit from its indiscretions. That's how integrity works with this crowd.

2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

"Nick Dal Santo, Bendigo Pioneers. 22.2.84 183 cm 74 kg." It may well be that we finally get the bloke who Mr Suburban Sponge suggested we should pick way back then.

As long as people think the saga was predominantly about tanking, then they're not getting what it was really about. The reality is that Chris Connolly was a good servant of the club and he doesn't deserve the rubbish being heaped on him here and elsewhere.
