Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I think its safe to say Trac doesn't have the right qualities to be a leader. Yes, he sets high standards and has a thirst for success, but those qualities alone are not what drives a great leader. I really hoped he would step into the void Gus left, but the events of last year made it clear he misses the mark on a number of fronts. May, Lever, Melksham all have some good leadership qualities - they are from perfect - but am surprised are not more present. Maybe they are behind the scenes who knows. Then there is Jack Viney. The heart and soul player. He is getting absolutely hammered by the media and Demonlanders alike. Poor fella. There is enough there to pull the playing group inline i think but they would be under immense pressure to keep everyone positive given the poor start.

Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
He is clearly getting his segment ideas from this forum.

i wouldn't say none. We did apparently pass up on Hogan before he went to GWS. Would have only cost us a small hot chips and coke too.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
I Ultimately our lack of solving the forward line issues whether it’s personnel or connection. It has finally caught up to us.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
I know we are playing abysmally - so far from anything that resembles the potential of this team. Its really unnerving. I think its safe to say that finals is just borderline impossible. We are playing so bad, i dont think it can actually get much worse- yes there is the potential for 100+ drubbings, but the talent on our list wont let that happen, not yet anyhow. My concern is actually not with this year anymore, i think the damage is done. If we don't start to turn this ship around soon, its going to creep into next year too. Think similar to 2020 when we came good after the bye round. To me this would look like kicking more than 10 goals a game with a good balance of scores from turnover and stoppage. Good defensive half transition and some healthier stats in all phases of the game. We must hit the bye round with at least 5 wins including an upset to a finals bound team. Hopefully then another 3-4 wins by the end of the season playing decent football - resembling the modern game - is about as best we can hope for. Failing this, we will likely be in no mans land again next year and probably less a few of our stars. If that happens then we are genuinely looking at a full rebuild, suggest you all find a different hobby for the next 5-10 years because i sure as [censored] dont have the patience to go through another one.

Time to go Goody?
My thoughts exactly. He is so articulate in his explanation. I hope he still has the ear of some of the players. They need to hear this...its damning but fixable. I reckon its every single senior player that has this ego problem. Sheparding, tackling, covering, chasing. We hardly do this stuff or way too few do it.

NON-MFC: Round 04
Can we beat the Tigers? They move the ball better than us right now.

If it was only 2-5% we'd be ok. Just look at the player ratings. Viney is almost half the player he was. Thats almost a 50% drop in player ratings compared to last year Trac is not much better. was something like 40% down compared to his pre-injury. Oliver is actually better but his year last year was not the best to compare to. Rivers, Fritta and so many more are actually significantly, double digits, down in terms of performance ratings. It is absolutely woeful. Nobody could have predicted this in their worst nightmare.

The whole team bonding session has failed dismally in Bright. That much is clear. Figure out who is at centre of this. Clarry? Trac? and [censored] them off end of year for whatever we can salvage. Frankly I don't care as long as the rot has been stopped. They are both contracted for another 5+ years and we cannot continue to have them impact the stability and wellbeing of the club. The best scenario we can hope for is to have both Trac and Oliver play well and consistently to attract at least some interest and value. But our position right now as a club will mean that we will get absolutely murdered on the negotiating front. If we can get a single first round pick for both players, we just have to take it. Makes me feel ill, but this is how toxic the whole situation is. We cant also be taking only draft picks either. We have to overpay to get other players in the door. Have to chase pre-agents. Its going to be so difficult to get anyone to come in atm given the absolute joke of a club we have become in the last 6 months. Only MFC can implode the way we have. How i wish i didnt love this club and that i could just not give a [censored].

Time to go Goody?
Absolutely and i think there will be a lot of coaches thinking that there is a good chance they can make us a contender again without moving things around too much.

They are coming for him. i have no doubt he'll be gone in the next 4 weeks. i cant see us winning a game with the direction we are taking.

Is he playing his role? He needs to do the team thing and stick a tackle as well.

New coach prospects
I think it depends on the reason we are performing so poorly. For me it’s probably the playing group more than it is Goody.

New coach prospects
As much as ppl would hate it. James Hird has to be an option. I think he is a good blend of football brain and modern coach with a good read on the modern game. I reckon he would have an impact similar to Mitchell if he was given the chance. What ever he done at Essendon was in the past and he has paid for his indiscretions.

One player doesn’t make a team. Trac was made to look good by his team mates. What ever fractures were made last year, it’s clear they weren’t resolved in Bright. They are not playing for each other. That is the only way all this makes sense. Sure we are changing game plan and all that, but the level of poorness on display would be on par with an U18 Coates league team that is playing together for the first time. With the quality of our players, it shouldn’t be this bad - I think a fair comparison would be Carlton. Our performance is unexcusable. I think it’s only a matter of time until the players start talking and media start reporting it. I wouldn’t be surprised if we start hearing it this week. Goody is trying to hold the team together as well as be a coach with a new game plan. It’s too much for him. gawns drop in performance is probably for the same reason. Players are playing for themselves , the more I think about this, the more obvious it is. Maybe being at rock bottom together can galvanise the group as the only way up and out of this form rutt is together- that could be really powerful. But equally, fractures could turn deep into resentment and hate and this could spiral to something we all fear.

Time to go Goody?
I thinkwe have to get older before we get younger. Should have thrown a longer deal at Tex. Need to target has beens with strong leadership. Even if they only play 10 games. Will cost is though Parker would have been good. Why didn’t we go after Darling.. Instead we have Sharp and a bunch of VFL rookies.

Full scale admin rebuild needs to be done. Steve Smith is a revered leader and we can’t have him come soon enough. Coach will be key. I gone cold on Longmire, I remember when he used to have Sydney play that slow boring footy that we are renowned for.

We are on the express way to irrelevance again. This is absolutely tragic and heartbreaking at the same time. What I absolutely fear is how long we’ll now have to wait before we can be excited about being a contender again. It’s absolutely daunting. I just want to cry!

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
You expect something from this game plan, but something is just not working . Goody has totally [censored] this team up. Whether he designed something that the list didn’t have a chance in hell to execute or the team ain’t fit enough or the team doesn’t believe in it…. All roads lead back to Goody. If there was a glimmer of something we were doing well I’d say persist, but there is nothing absolutely nothing we are doing well. So we have to stem the bleeding and try and salvage something. Because this team is not capable of playing the modern game or a variation of it.

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Tuned in for quarter 4. I watched for 5 mins. Didn’t watch last week. We are worse than I thought. Something has to change. To know what this team is capable of and to witness this performance just beggars belief. I think there’s going to be a lot of players requesting a trade if we don’t start turning this ship. This is starting to look like the coming of an other real dark dark age.
