Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
Oxdee replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Harvey is an absolute brut with high end skills and smarts. His game reminds me of a more skill-full Luke hodge. He is deceivingly quick and doesn’t shirk a contest and at 191cm this guy might end up the best pick of the draft. -
Nice skills https://youtu.be/CeNxoXRsvTY?si=JnT9Cfo0RdT4q1Gd

Elite midfielders only… our midfield depth is lacking
-
You do realise the kid played most of his matches whilst still 18? He averaged 12 possession and almost a goal a game. Your expectations are delusional
-
Agree… 6 and 11 is an already a huge hand in this year’s draft. We picked well last year a landed quality. Windsor and kolt are 150+ gamers. Pick well this year and you can sure up the list.
-
Reid looks pretty good. Admittedly I’ve only seen his highlight reel but he comes across with outstanding skill and footy smarts. He is another one that could be anything. Would be great to get him at 9
-
He has a strong potential to be the best player in the league. He has even been matching it with most ruckman and all at the age of 21. in a way, his foray into the ruck will end up serving him well up forward. looking forward to seeing ‘the ox mach II’ break out.

Seems that it’s likely to be either Langford or smillie. My only issue is that they are both big bodied midfielders and likely to be a bit slower than the smaller mids. Is this an issue considering Oliver and trac as similar types?
-
What’s a future fund for if it isn’t to secure a home base for your club for the next 50 years?
-
So it’s either raise $100m or don’t go ahead with the plan? It’s outrageous not to consider borrowings. Imagine people having to wait until they saved enough to buy their houses outright? No one would ever buy
-
I don’t see this as an issue… no one builds a facility like this with 100% cash. The club will have $30m from cash reserves and members donations. Assume they will be able to raise another $25m from governments, the AFL, the Melbourne Cricket Club and private investors and benefactors. It will leave a $45m shortfall which would be borrowed and paid down over decades. The club generates $60m in revenue. Paying the debt off at $3m annually isn’t a concern.

Saints just appointed Bolton and jarred rivers…
-
I’m developing a 4 storey apartment building with 40 apartments.. cost $17m.. $100m is exorbitant
-
More like a future 1st pick which Melbourne wasn’t interested in considering the supposed strength of this years draft
-
I’ve been following football long enough to be able to read between the lines. You can pretend all you like that this isn’t the case but you would be either naive or deluded
-
The only reason Oliver hasn’t been traded is because he doesn’t have any takers willing to satisfy Melbourne’s conditions. If a club were willing to pay 75% of his salary and hand over pick 15 then Melbourne would have offloaded him. As it stands today Oliver is worth $750k per year for 2 years and pick 15-20.
-
He isn’t rated top 10.. don’t be an issue getting him with 13
-
I also find this strange. There are 9 other Melbourne clubs. We would the dees not have shopped him around?
-
I’ll say it again. At this stage a trade is more likely than not. The supporters on this forum have their heads in the sand. Oliver doesn’t want to play for Melbourne and is trying to find any chance to leave. Even take a pay cut.
-
Ok.. watched him.. he looks good. Unlikely to be a top 5 pick. More like 10-20.
-
We are desperate for forward talent???? JVR, Petty, Turner and Jefferson. Please tell me where you see another tall forward sitting?
-
Nonsense, Oliver trade has had almost more media attention than trac. It’s in everyone’s best interest to quash the story and move on. A 2 minute interview saying how much he is looking forward to next season is sufficient. Concerning that they can’t even give us that
-
Unfortunately the fact that this rumour hasn’t been put to bed usually means that there is a strong possibility that Oliver will be traded. At no point in time has Oliver actually come out and said that he is staying. As it stands today, Oliver is out the door.
-
Unfortunately woe jnr isn’t going to make the cut… his decision making is way to slow for AFL level. The pace of attack slows when he has the ball
-
Inflation has well and truly arrived at the AFL…
