  1. What's Jake Neade's status? Career over?
  2. Before Ben made an absolute [censored] of himself on live national TV in attempting to confirm his rockstar prowess.
  3. A little runt I believe it was.
  4. Nat was set to play Juliet in Baz Luhrmann's adaption of Shakespeare before Claire Danes took on the role. Claire Danes then dated that Ben Lee [censored]. That should give hope to anyone.
  5. I predict that @ding will pretend he doesn't care all that much but will put in a PhD-worthy mountain of pre-season research to claim back his former precious - the one ball that rules them all. 640 × 360
  6. A BA in psychology from Harvard. Arrived at our training approximately five years too late.
  7. Oddly, I think this kid may be a distant relative of mine.
  8. I was. As mentioned there were a number of exciting potential picks around our mark. And there were more obvious opportunities in our starting team. Maybe it's that 20-30 feels like a dead-zone - not the upper echelon and not the speculative outsiders. It's not common that I get called out for pessimism on here - I think it's probably the opposite and just want to get on with business. Perhaps just leave me to my musings. A lack of enthusiasm / boredom is a difficult mind-state to qualify.
  9. I should have made what I meant clearer. It's not that I won't be unexcited by our eventual draftees (even though I think they're less likely to get a look in over the coming year, which tempers interest somewhat) - I'm just not feeling it with the pre-draft speculation this year and suggested players in our pick range.
  10. Pat McKenna / Viojo-Rainbow David Cuningham / Luke Partington Alex Witherdon / Patrick Lipinski The previous three 23 & 28 pairs of draft picks up until last year. I wholeheartedly agree that it's difficult to get excited about the expected draft options in our range. And I'm not sure if its the Rankine factor, but this year's draft highlight packages seem especially dull after the stand-out crop of eight or so at the top. At least last year I could get excited about the potential of Liam Ryan in the 25-35 range. With Bedford likely to be brought in with our next pick, there's not even the realistic speculative smokey to ignite some anticipation. All that's left for me is the live-trading potential to upgrade and what that might bring. I think we sold out of every 20-30 pick possibility under Taylor to date for a reason. I hold him in high regard, but I'm not sure if spending those picks in the draft will equal our best return on the balance of worth and expense. My hope is that they upgraded to those picks for a very specific reason, which based on history is very likely. Otherwise I'm emotionally empty as to this draft season - although not so as to our trade period.
  11. Also not sure if covered anywhere on here, but the Demons site has our 2019 JLT fixtures listed as Richmond on the 3rd of March in Shepparton and and 9th of March at Casey (which I thought was Cazaly's in Cairns at first by its venue code and was going to make a big fuss about but now won't - everything is okay, carry on with your day in peace, but hehe - [censored] Brisbane).
  12. From all reports Goodwin is not just a dedicated student of Aussie footy but of world sports. He's also been developing a game-plan which, while still admittedly unproven, is on the leading edge of Australian football and could potentially deliver a dynasty in a league of small margins if it clicks with increasing player maturity. I previously posted my suspicion that he has already taken on board some ideas from both European soccer and rugby league. Far from junkets, I think these research trips are invaluable, and demonstrate the single-minded dedication of our coaching panel as led by Goody.
  13. Neat finisher with a bit of flair. Noted for forward pressure. Leg speed/evasive skills. Can win contested ball. Fills a Neade (sorry). What's the knock? Goes missing?
  14. And Bruce called him a sensation.
  15. Pressure is great but . . .erase just three games from his career record, and Townsend has kicked a grand total of 17 goals in 44 games across seven seasons of football. And he laid less tackles this year than Garlett from just one less game.
  16. Menzel wouldn't be a player in the 22 until he proved he could perform the non-negotiables. He would be a free delisted free agent capable of kicking 40 goals per year added to our list for free - given the chance to make our 22 if he can learn to apply the appropriate pressure in adherence to our systems and game-plan.
  17. Terry Crews
  18. My MFCSS says that even though we claimed this glorious trophy, future netizens will declare the visual evidence as clearly photo-shopped, with no-one having bothered to actually record the details in any official record-books.
  19. I don't get what's so hard. See that other bloke, your opponent, who has the ball? Go and try get it back off him. Do so successfully and both you and your team will kick more goals - hurrah! Are the elite athletes and competitors who actually reach the AFL and don't apply pressure just lazy or arrogant, or incapable of doing so in terms of their defensive capacity? Is it systems-based - can it be taught? If I was given the choice of extending my sporting career on a quarter of a million dollars per year, on the proviso that I made an effort to chase after some guys for a couple of hours twenty-odd times a year, or going into real estate, I know what option would appeal. Surely Menzel on these terms is worth a punt. Put in and you probably play, don't and you can fade away in the football boondocks. We need to back in our our systems if we're to convince everyone else we believe in them. Note: please don't cite Jack Watts if you choose to respond to this post.
  20. Jack Trengove's career needs to be put out of its misery.
  21. Ha!. I wrote a travel article once about an almost identical experience in a remote nowhere in far east PNG. The Land Where Guernseys go to Die.
  22. Now I'm fixated on this Ben Brown clown as a must-have lest we cop abuse for years to come for draft oversights. Is he worth 23 or will he get to us at that number? Needs work but looks the goods to me.
  23. Love this bloke already. May have dismissed in the past as a simple brute. Proposed new nickname - Stark (May - winter is coming)
