  1. Hawkins wasn't getting a kick in those days...
  2. And we've got Gawn, Fritsch, Petracca and Oliver and Pickett
  3. Ours was keep it away from Number 7 - Osborne - cos he'll kick it to the opposition - much like Dom Tyson...
  4. So have I . Can you loan me a buck till my next dole cheque comes in????
  5. Made me chuckle. I'm married to an award-winning author...I've been trying to teach her the basics of being a Housewife since I met her. That was a joke, Joyce...
  6. It began thus, Jontee mentioning Patrick White's letters: Roger Mellie Life Member 2.6k Posted yesterday at 08:04 AM (edited) I am too, but you should take a look at the Patrick White Letters - two volumes. He was a mean, miserable [censored] Edited yesterday at 08:58 AM by Roger Mellie Letters not diaries
  7. Though, I can recall kicking 2 goals in a final against West Footscray in 1965, when my direct opponent was Laurie Sandilands. I also remember returning the figures of 6 for 18 off 8 overs, after getting 2 for 11 off the first 2 overs. I won the bowling average that year, after winning the All-rounder award the year before .Ah, the good ole days when I could still run and imagine the Demons would reign forever.
  8. I'm getting to that half-blissful stage where I can't remember what day it is, let alone bringing my wallet to the supermarket to buy dog food, and, just maybe, a bottle or two of Jacobs Creek. As they say, ignorance of what my partner was barking at is bliss.
  9. I never finished Voss. Carver was a short story writer who died in 1988 or so. He, more than anyone, has influenced my writing...He was great at celebrating the ordinary things of life: bottom line domestic stories...
  10. It's like that, I guess. I am a huge Lou Reed and Raymond Carver fan. When I read biographies of them, I wish I hadn't. I have Marr's White biography....
  11. Jontee, I am a very keen Patrick Whiter: please elaborate...
  12. After listening to the SEN segment above, it seems Lyon was not the shafted one...Just more of St Kilda's notion of how not to go about appointing coaches, witness Watson, Blight, Thomas etc etc
  13. Mind you, WUL, the Demons notion of Governance left a wee bit to be desired as well from 1965 until 2016...
  14. I had such high hopes for Weidemann - I can't see how Schache is not an improvement - he can take a mark at least.
  15. Wikipedia is saying Schache is a Melbourne Demon. Also saying Weidemann is a Bomber. Schache has played 69 games for 77 games, Weidemann 59 games for 62 goals.
  16. I was there at Box Hill that day. He was magnificent - pack marks, long goals. I've been a fan ever since. That he has only rarely lit up as a Demon Forward - a la 2018 Finals - is a great disappointment for me.
  17. Can't say I was impressed with his admission that he was 'gone' after the Bye, that he flew to his mum and checked out the Eagle den as well. Um, doesn't that mean that focus has evaporated? Doesn't that mean that from Round 14 he was going through the motions? I wonder whether his stats curved negative from that point on...
  18. Oedipus, Schmoedipus: as long as he loves his momma.
  19. This debate is typical of Demonland: the 360 Degree gamut of Opinions. It reminds me of the famous Yiddish observation that you get three - in this instance, we'll call them Yekkes - in a room and in an instant, you get five different opinions...
  20. Most blokes are teenagers till they get to 40...
