Head of Player Personnel David Walls expects Jackson to be worth Fremantle’s significant investment of draft capital. “Luke has been our number one priority all year and obviously throughout the trade period,” Walls said. [...] “In his draft year, we had him rated at number one in the draft. “Even though we also picked up Hayden Young and Caleb Serong, with Luke being local, we’ve followed him for a long time going back to his juniors. [censored] hell they've been in his year since he stepped foot on a footy field. He was always going to head back sooner or later.

He said "thanks to melb for letting me come home"

Mundy too. Both 350+ game players for the one club.

Sean Darcy was a great ruck from very early on because of Sandilands, who I think is still their ruck coach

No but he did talk about how it's been his dream his whole life to play for freo. Lovely.

Huge dockers man JVR. He'd be hanging around their changerooms after games all of last year.

    Trade has been done

The pick will be. But it's not like we're trading him just so that we can facilitate the Jackson deal like some have implied

We're not moving Weid FOR the jackson deal. We're just moving him because he wants to move and we dont want him,

If it's just Acres and Logue going, then that's just 3 of their b22. Acres leaving was club initiated. They didn't see him in their future plans so lowballed him to push him out. Logue I think his forward role is replaceable, and he's not playing in defence when the two players in front of him finished 2nd and 3rd in their b&f. Lobb will be a huge loss. If they want to contend next year they keep him. Anyway I think this is all redundant because they're gameplan got stale and they limped towards the finish line. I fully expect them to regress regardless of personnel. And the extent on regression is probably dependent on if Lobb stays or not.

The fact that they're refusing to give up pick 2 means that they have no effect when it comes to negotiations. Expect the deal to go through today for 13, F1, F2 (freo) --> Jackson, F3 (essendon)

Fyfe actually only lost 2 games this year. Think they were 4-2 with him in the team. If he's healthy next year and playing in the midfield then I think you can guarantee they're making the eight. But I highly doubt thats happening.

Logue was really good in that first game against us, but from what I saw in the finals he was pretty useless. They had a second gamer come in after missing the entire year with a kidney laceration and even he outplayed Logue.

Was still probably 1 or 2 for clearances though. Unless fyfe returns back to form (doubt it) then they're replacing 370 games with a teenager

In terms of personnel I don't think anyone except lobb leaving will have a big impact. They trade him and I cannot see anyway in which they finish top 8. Acres is replaceable and Logue was playing up fwd in a role that I think can be easily covered. I just think their game plan was figured out on the second half of the season and that's gonna be where they fall down the ladder.

Thing is LJ was at peak value at this time last year. He had just won the rising star and played well in a grand final win. We could've gotten cerra AND around pick 8 from freo with maybe a second rounder going back there way. Cerra, 8 --> Jackson, second rounder

From The Age. "Freo will be inclined to add a future second-round pick to the two first-round picks if they get a selection back from Melbourne, such as Essendon’s future third they receive for Weideman, or the Bedford pick." So will probably be something like 13, F1, F2(freo) --> Jackson, Bedford pick and/or F3

Apparently expected to go through after weids trade
  19. mmwd6 replied to Lucifers Hero's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Apparently they're not keen on using him as a forward but more so as a big bodied mid/ruck hybrid. A deal will get done. We won't like it. It will get done though.

Yeah I'm almlost certain their F1 will be that top 10 pick we want.

Is this about him being photographed out and about with sean darcy? As far as I can tell everything else he's done has been professional.
  22. mmwd6 replied to Lucifers Hero's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
He's signed until 2027 and freo don't let their contracted players go easily. They would almost certainly hold him to every year of that contract unless they could get like 3 top 5 picks or something crazy like that. I'll never forget pick 2 for Lachie weller
  23. mmwd6 replied to Lucifers Hero's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
    Caleb serong
  24. mmwd6 replied to Lucifers Hero's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
In both situations though the player is out of contract, so they'll be paying unders. I think 13 and F1 will be close to the actual deal. I know it's unders, but it will likely be evened up with some later pick swaps (NMF2 maybe involved). 15, 16 (F1) --> dunkley, 30, 35, 43 (F3) is just plain insulting and so far from where they need to be for a 26yo who just won the clubs b&f. And then throwing away that pick 15 and still expecting the deal to get done is just pure arrogance. Dogs only lose out on pick 15-18 if they let him walk to the PSD. In that case I can see them doing it. We let LJ walk to the PSD then we're missing out on 13 and a potential top 10 pick (I expect freo to fall next season). That's a situation where you take the unders offered.

If we get a top 10 pick it'll be our own doing using the picks they give us.
