TRAINING: Thursday 8th September 2022
At the risk of talking selections one would presume no JvR due to lack of crowding around him for congratulatory announcement. no unforced changes it seems from training run

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
Like I have said previously Salem never plays well in first couple of games after injury. Bowey has to at least be considered. ANB tries and tries but last night I found him very trying. He is too often indicative of our forward line - a rebound wall. Do not see TMac as a saviour and has no VFL game before next week. In the last ressies game Weid, JvR and M Brown much better. Think Harmes will be out so that saves Melksham. FD does not like change so one forced change will be it, probably Dunstan but would like to see Smith. Trac an unknown at this point. FD meeting will be like “we beat them a ftnight ago so who are we forced to change?”

NON-MFC: Finals 2022 Week 01
So no need to watch tomorrow night, as others noted Fox already decided Dees have lost.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Bloody Hell, just when I was reconciled to being excited by all the new stars we would get from our 8 picks in the top ten I once again have to recalibrate.
-
CHANGES: QF vs Sydney
Salem will probably come in. The problem is that he often takes several games to get back into it after injury.

Thank you Demonland
Only joined recently after reading DL content and listening to DL podcasts for many years. Also have posted on BigFooty for years. Finally joined because: 1. I think the standard of the Pod is first class and offers the best analysis going around. 2. The DL forum discussion is deeper and much more varied and informative than on BF. All in all thank you Andy and all involved. I spend far too much time on here.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Pretty sure I read somewhere West Coast still believe they are in the game for Luke. If it is go home or money influencing his decision it should make no difference to him which Perth club he goes to. If it is something like he just prefers Freo then that is pretty weak. Correct me if I’m wrong but he was pick 3 and has become a lot better since then. Really don’t see how Freo get it done. if he stays then all good.

NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022
If Sydney manage to lose top 4 we have Pies first week. They have been incredibly lucky - beating sides outside top 8 by very small margins. I would like them first up. Go Saints
-
CHANGES: QF vs Sydney
Obviously Bowey / Salem. Worry is Salem seldom plays well in matches after injury. Going forward Melksham would be the likely out if TMac gets up but can’t see that happening with the way Melk has been playing.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
So far so good fingers crossed- good atmosphere at the ground! I think so anyway
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
Heading to the Gabba. Hope the coaches have worked on getting a draw. If not Go Dees! JJ bit unlucky. Looks like this is the team structure going into finals. Their forward line a worry - Daniher, McStay and Hipwwod tall, Mcarthy, Andrews and Country Roads buzzing around. Hard to stop
-
TEAMS: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
I don’t understand why they played Harmes in the slog last Sunday if they intended him to play tomorrow. Did he get rested in the last quarter? Surely JJ won’t miss out again after playing all year - perhaps being freshened up.
-
Jake Lever - You've done it again!
Jake is well suited to his role directing the backline but I think future captain is more suited to Gus. Has the intelligence, footy smarts and interpersonal skills to be a great leader. Can see a Gus / Lever - captain / vice captain future. This is providing Viney is no longer around which may not be the case.
-
The Run Home
How tempting to full dodgy and manufacture an agreed upon draw.
-
CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
The only possible change I see is Harmes for Sparrow for a specific tagging role. Getting Smith forward could have been innovative but injury and VFL fixturing has killed that. We don’t do innovative at selection time anyway.
-
CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
Predict Harmes for Sparroe Would like that plus another tall in, Smith is fast and can play small and tall. Out maybe Spargo. Nib is annoying me but apparently he plays his role?
-
Patrick Cripps FREE to play
Given the decision I shudder to think about the umpiring we get this week.
-
CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Goody’s presser leads me to no change or maybe Harmes in for someone. Don’t think we are going to see the changes many are calling for.
-
Farewell Brodie Grundy
If Gawn is to play forward we need a game plan that involves him handing off every time to a player coming past for every shot between 1m out to 50m out. The invention of the dual player shot for goal strategy.
-
Farewell Brodie Grundy
Always felt Brodie was too intellectual for Pies … doesn’t fit.
-
CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
There is only one logical reason for Smith training with forwards. Only a couple of cm shorter than van Rooyan so in he comes this week or next. Out goes … um…. Someone. Possibly Harmes for Sparrow but that mucks up the all new ‘Gus in the Middle’ show which is rating well. The FD doesn’t do mass changes so that would be about it. Looking forward to smashing the Pies in the first final.

CHANGES: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Reading between Goody’s lines: BBB in Weid out only change
-
FIXTURE: Round 23, 2022
Port =Freo in my brain at that moment in time!
-
FIXTURE: Round 23, 2022
I reckon our best outcomes are either finish 2nd and face Brisbane or Port at home and if not, then fourth to play Geelong at the G.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Hope this positivity is based on reality! Not been too sure about the “wanting more midfield” anyway given his concussion history. Half back / wing seems a better fit.
