That's a question I want an answer to as well.
We haven't played at the G since Round 15 on the 23rd of June (39 days to today and it will be 43 days on Friday). Since that time Collingwood have played 4 games there.
Maybe psychological? The boys want to win it at the G, it could be counterproductive for them to feel the obligation to win at the G in front of the Dees' faithful

got an armchair ride to the prelim during covid impacted 2020 and still couldn't get the job done. Serial chokers in the big games
Who chokes more though... Geelong, Brisbane or Port??? 🤔

He has the best goal sense in the league, his finishing is beyond elite. His left foot is also the best in the league imo.
Yep, his left foot is golden. He is like the Midas of goal kicking

Errr ... did you actually read the article? The author explains how they do it.
That may be the case but it is also unfair to let star players take too many pay cuts. I believe the likes of the NBA or NFL have a minimum salary (max contracts) for star players, so you can't underpay them too much in order to stack up stars in your team.

1) Unfair advantage with their subpar AFL ground
2) Cap space? How can they keep adding star players with barely no cap space available? (They were trying to get Angus per reports, how were they intending to add an extra 700k to their caps space).
3) For some reason a lot of regional VIC talent likes to go there. Metro VIC has to share the pool of talen between 7 clubs.
I don't know that you can call them successful with the list they've had for a decade with the same coach and their finals resume is lackluster at the very least.

Same El. I don’t buy it either. They’re in the same country ffs. They have the wherewithal to travel back and forth as often as they like.
Unlike some families who, say for example, have a son who lives in Europe and a parent who lives in Melbourne and they’re lucky to see each other once every two years. And the son is missing Australia like crazy and the parent is missing the son, also like crazy. That’s just a random example, of course. ☹️
The same for me, my whole family is back in Mexico. I just came back from seeing my family last month, how good is that!!

Did Jackson’s head knock stop him from being in the team song?
He didn't want to look bad in front of his new team and supporters.

I wasn’t worried about ‘21 Geelong like I am ‘22 Geelong and that’s not even factoring us into it. At the moment they give Dees ‘21 a run for their money.
Perhaps the G will be the deciding factor but our form on that ground hasn’t been stellar this year so perhaps it’s not such an advantage.
Just need to listen to the Binman; he can always find arguments for and data to support it!

Does this mean you're suggesting we abandon the 'selfish" tag? I, for one, am with you, but you better move carefully round these here parts. Or carry a large umbrella.
I don't mind waking in the rain...😆

Can't remember if there's a thread about the importance of Frittata, but he ought to be the most influential offensive player in our list at the moment. Besides his goal kicking, he must have a lot of score involvements.
Should be AA this year IMO.

This season he has gone from the Dees being guaranteed to go undefeated to missing the Top 4 to still a chance to missing the Top 4 again to keeping the faith. If we lose next week his head might explode.
Wouldn't surprise me if he predicted the Dees to be relegated to the VFL if we can't defeat the filth...

Collingwood AGAIN by less than a kick. 😡
Telling you this way of winning won't be sustainable in September. Collingwood maybe one of the worst finals teams percentage-wise in the last decade

For better or worse loyalty is not a thing to the kids coming through these days. They grow up watching NBA & NFL where players, the champions too, regularly change sides.
The difference being that in the NFL or NBA top draft picks usually play at the very least 5 or 6 years with the teams that picks them.

The accepted view seems to be that he would stay a couple of years if no deal can be done. It is an opportunity for him to go home and play for the club he barracked for.
IMO we have been pragmatic and started looking at what we can get out of it, rather than keep him for a couple of years and go through all of this again for another year.
We can really plug some list holes if we are smart.
Didn't he barrack for the Weagles? I thought his idol was Nic Nat

Don't worry about Collingwood, they are just lucky. Luck doesn't win you finals.

You do know where his family and mates live, don’t you?
I never buy the narrative of 'homesick', FFS we live in 2022 not 1970. You are just a 3 hour flight from home. Not saying it is not a contributing factor but most definitely the money weighs more into the decision.

Watching Oliver it is clear he is still hampered by his broken thumb. His normally instantaneous clean ball takes were still absent and his handball skills were suppressed. May need another couple of weeks to fully recover. Costing him at least ten possessions a game.
Most importantly, can he still win the Brownlow?🤔

I have the feeling we will surpass the 70k mark next year, regardless of the outcome of this year's finals.

This! ... I have noticed ANB form to be lackluster in the last couple of weeks. He is not a damaging player like Kozzy or Spargo. His wastefulness of the footy is infuriating
