  1. Unfortunately I didn’t screenshot the Priority members allocation when I went in (quel [censored]). But I’m 90% sure these are our bays

    M2-M4, M7-M9, M12-M13, M16, M30-M31, M35. M50-M51, M55-M56. For the most part the bays on level 4 reflect the same as level 1 with a few differences.

Level 2 and Level 2a is slightly different because we have most of the bays in the southern and northern stands but believe they have all of level 2 in the ponsford.

our sales are miles behind theirs unfortunately and they are starting to reallocate some of the back of level 4 bays to Collingwood.

Like many, I kind of panicked and went for “best available”. Got given M35 Row N. In theory, a good seat. In practice, horrifically close to the Pies cheer squad (behind point post, Southern Stand end).

    And on my own!

Will either be the best or worst afternoon of the year.

M35 is a Melbourne bay as well as M30 and M31

  3. Good luck today everyone!

Remember to be patient, they release bays at staggered times when they start selling out so if it says no availability just keep trying.

If our allocation gets full you can always try the Collingwood allocation. It is unlikely it will completely sell out in the member on sale.

AFL members like me, god help us all.

Level 2 is N12 to N49 (38 bays) Punt Road end and N29 to N36 (8 bays( at the city end.

I reckon we'll be allocated the city end and only a small portion of the Punt Road end. Good luck getting level 2.

    No.

Cheersquad is in M3. You can be nearly certain that as the "away" team we will Have M3-M6, M9-M10, M12-M13 M16, M52-M53, M55-M56 in the Southern and Olympic with the correlating bays on level 2, 2A and 4. And if not those bays it will be the opposite. Ponsford we will get access to 4 of the 8 bays on level 1 and the same on level 2.

As much as people dont like to hear it, they do actually split the bays 50 50. It just depends on whether we have enough members to fill our allocation before the Pies members start taking it.

Anyone know if as an AFL Member with Gold Status and Melbourne club support, if this grants me access to club member allocation? Would much rather sit with Melbourne members than in AFL Members.

It did last year, but would confirm in your MFC account. They may give you a separate barcode for the Melbourne allocation.

While Ticketek nominally assign Bays for the two clubs I don't think it is sophisticated enough to ensure the numbers are 50/50.  My impression last year was first in, best dressed.

Regarding the Ticketek 'premium' member option the computer didn't always deliver premium seats nor priority access.  The seat allocation seemed to be on price category rather than membership status.  Anyone could choose the highest priced tickets.

Generally, the computer seemed to allocate tickets (by price category) in a Bay until it was full then allocated tickets in the next available Bay.  Sometimes there were Bays with fans from both clubs but you don't know this until you get to the game.

Once the MCC, AFL and other group's seats are considered the allocation for club members will be relatively small.

Hopefully the tickets for Carlton/Sydney go on sale on the Wednesday to avoid a total meltdown.   The other games' tickets will be sold by Ticketmaster.

@Fear the beard will probably know more.

Saints game also on Ticketek but for AFL reserve they are staggering the games, hopefully they do the same for Public and MCC. The premium option I am not 100% sure about.

We’ll be up the city end for this match. Bay 33

Why on earth are we in the Ponsford. Collingwood sit in M33 all year for home and away games and have made the Ponsford theirs. It is technically their home game (I understand it is meant to be neutral) and we prefer to be at Punt Road end? Surely this makes no sense.

This is as a result of the $30 GF Guarantee ( Priority 3) Drive I believe.

The $30 is membership it seems being included as about 1,000 appear to have been added. At this rate we may achieve 70,000.

Its not a $30 GF Guarantee, its just priority 3 access to the ballot.

Yes that was an over the top estimate in my brain adding on away totals to our home figures. SCG last year had 44/45,000 when Pies played in Round 22 and prelim Final. SO maybe the total may be any where up to to 910,000. If it's that then our average crowd is only 10,000 below 40,000.

If we play Pies in QF we will nearly// just be over / the million mark.

    Heady days !!!

SCG close to a sellout already, i'm expecting 38-40K and ill be one of them

Actually it was 39,350 at Marvel but was also called a bumper crowd by the Age reporter.

Yes we have an advantage as we can attract larger totals of our own and opposition fans as the MCG takes bigger crowds. But remember Carlton have had Marvel games with between 45,000 plus to about 39/40,000 for Saints Dogs Lions and Swans in their early run of wins.

So Pies like Tigers and Hawks and ourselves do not go to Marvel as much. Understandable  but I like Marvel because of the indoors and consequent speed on the game.

Those who claim our figures are bumped up by opposition fans forget it happens to all sides.

Thrte is no doubt we are starting to get more fans families and kids to games and if we can continue making  the Top4 for the next 3/4 years and get a flag or two we will start to make some ground and May get a million Home and Away fans eventually.

This year  is about 930,000 plus so not far off.

Great response by Dees fans overall.

Its currently at 865K and will end up about 902K (SCG close to a sellout), no idea where you have pulled 930K from.

    1. 38% of their total membership and that's assuming no Lions fans turned up.
    2. If anything, Marvel is in even closer proximity to Centrelink offices.

the MCG is closer to the Yarra so they can shower after the game but we digress.

The Marvel sellouts are a massive problem the AFL has at the moment. Constantly selling out and getting 38-43K isnt good enough. 10K unused M Club, reserved seat members and Coporate allocations.

MCG is equally bad, ie 83.5k on Kings Birthday.

I think we hold our own. The media continues their bias though.

    R14 MCG 7:50pm MEL v BRI, Crowd 38,030 "Crowd's a bit disappointing"

R23 MVL 7:50pm COL v BRI, Crowd 38,050 "Crowd here tonight is UNBELIEVABLE"*

*Caveat being that this comment was made by BT.

Come on, if the Pies game was at the G it would have been around 70K. Our crowd was still great and our record against Brisbane but we can't compare with Collingwood.

I posted this elsewhere, but it is so wise 😀 I can't resist posting here too:

Why do the ARC people get to hear the umpire's call in advance?  It must affect their thinking.

Surely they should be told the umpire is in doubt as to whether or not it was touched.  If the ARC can then clearly see it wasn't touched, then we never hear what the umpire thought and it's a goal.  If they say it was clearly touched,  it's a point.  If they say ARC can't tell, then reveal the umpire's call and implement it.

Wise lol. There is a process in place and has been in place since the Score review was put into the game. Whether you like that process or not is separate, but that process was followed correctly by the ARC and the ARC made the correct decision. The incorrect decision (if you believe it was wrong) was made by the goal umpire. If we don't have a soft signal what is the ARC meant to do? Call it a goal or behind when there is no conclusive evidence? There is no way any person could definitively say whether that ball was touched or not.

    What the?

I had to go back and make sure i didn't quote the wrong post.

    But i didn't.

You wrote the dees, and i quote, 'were garbage for the first quarter and a half'

    I barely referenced the umpires.

My post (that you have quoted) was all about rebutting your opinion the dees 'were garbage for the first quarter and a half'

In all seriousness, how on earth do you arrive at 'I have no idea what your post has to do with mine'?

Do you seriously think your essay response actually addressed my point? My point was simply that the umpires were not the reason we lost. Melbourne was not good enough in the first quarter which you seem to disagree with but that is fine, you must not have watched the game. But as I said, my point was not addressed by your comment, if you think the umpires are the reason we lost then that would address what I said.
