I was only kidding.
I too am Jewish and will be attending with the rest of the crew I go with who are also Jewish.
My Carlton mates who are Jewish aren’t going tho.
sorry i got that you were making a joke aha.
Unfortunately of the 9 of us who attended on Friday only 4 will be there this week.

It should say Sept 11th btw not Sept 1st
I assume one ticket per member allocation again.
Just FYI Friday night, which I presume is when we play, is Jewish new year. Carlton have a big legion of Jewish supporters who aren’t going to come now because of the scheduling.
More tickets for those of us who think religion is for fools 😂
And I get to avoid annoying family dinners so even if we lose that’s a win for me!
I am Jewish but also think religion is for fools. Ill be celebrating new year in the MCG.
Also, its probably only about 5K people for Carlton and half will still go to the footy.

Damn I was hoping this section would be undercover. First time I've sat on that level and assumed it'd still be back far enough to be under the roof.
Depending on the direction of the rain, row F (which is last row) usually doesnt get wet.

Maybe not so so much......strong westerlies look certain - any takes on how west winds affect the G?
Doesnt matter how windy it is outside it swirls in the ground. Never seen a proper advantage to one side of the ground from wind.

Hello people, I have two spare seats in N54 tonight as I will be in the MCC, would very much prefer that they go to a Melbourne supporter

Well the MCC is a different kettle of fish, they own the place so the AFL is just a guest.
I guess it is just a niche thing here in Australia. I don't recall any similar arrangements for seat allocation in other professional sports (e.g. NFL, La Liga, EPL).
Of course its a niche thing to have:
- None of those leagues have a stadium that 5 teams use as its home ground
- None of those leagues play games with any empty seats (excluding maybe the Texans/Dolphins/Jags in the NFL)
- There is a certain away area/amount of seats for away supporters to purchase
Meanwhile we have a stadium that no single club can fill on its own accord during the Home and Away season. The concept of AFL membership has a place in Victoria where it doesn't elsewhere. I don't think its fair to compare the AFL with any of those leagues.

No it doesn't it would just become a condition of AFL membership.
95% of afl members already do nominate their club of choice and under no circumstances are they going to give priority in any game other than the grand final to competing club members.
do you want to do away with the Mcc as well?

Great point. All AFL Members should have to nominate a Club and only get tickets if those clubs compete.
Completely defeats the purpose of AFL membership. If you want priority on-sales be a club member and not AFL member.

There shouldn't be any AFL reserve for finals I think.
Why sell tickets potentially to neutral fans?
Im not a neutral fan but I can't attend with my AFL membership? Rubbish point.
-
Would have thought the easiest to solution would be:
- Don't overlap on sales between MCC and Public and Public and AFL
- Two public pre-sale periods (one for Collingwood members and one for Melbourne members)
- Spread the on sales out over 2 days for each game - there are two weeks ffs.
- MCC visitor tickets are always going to cause problems for Melbourne games so there really isnt much that can be done without banning guest passes. But that is where the MCC is making their money ie I bought 9 full/restricted seats on level 2 for $120 and 6 level 4 visitor tickets for $600 so they will never ban visitors.

Yes, I use bigpond. So, their system has take a sudden dislike to bigpond!!!!
Assuming it is an AFL wide system I wonder how many Pies fans were caught out...not that I have any sympathy for them...the fewer there the better😀

Funnily enough I got my ticket via the link in the text I received at 9:58, not my pc browser which I had been waiting on since 9:30
What a nonsense that we don't get the emails, probably worthy of a call to the club.

Geez, go easy. I’m just going by last year’s finals. We had opposition supporters in both M2 and M4.
On that basis every bay is mixed because you can click on either allocation and purchase seats in the other sides bays.

Anyone else not receive the email with the barcode? Instead I received an sms at 9.56am yesterday; just 4 minutes before ticket sales opened.
That isn't good enough for any member let alone a 20+ year Redleg member.
It was ok as I knew where to find the barcode in my mfc account but I feel for anyone who was caught out.
I doubt it is human error as I received the email advice on Sunday saying to look out for the barcode email on Monday. (BTW, I checked 'junk' mail just in case it went there). There was a system glitch somewhere!!
I've emailed the club as it would be awful for others to miss out on tickets because they didn't have/didn't know where to look for the barcode or received it at 9.56 am!!
Out of curiosity do you have a bigpond email? All the people with bigpond that I’ve spoken to didn’t received the email. My partner gets emails from Melbourne to her gmail and no problems. I got the text at 9:58z

We’ll be in M3.
M2 and M4 are mixed… both teams’ supporters. I hope there’s more Dees than Pies in these bays, especially in the aisle seats. 😩
On what basis are m2 and m4 mixed. They were in our allocation and not collingwoods. They have m57 and m1 and then m5-m6.

Reasonable expectation is that it will be around 93. If the MCC is a lockout which it should be and the corporates show up, it will be above 95.

Interesting FTB. Where are the standing bays they only open for the GF?
Believe that MCC ends up with a lot more standing room on Grand final day.

FTB, which game was the 74K? That's really low for a fully ticketed event.
RD24 Essendon V Collingwood. Obviously the Essendon reserved seat areas were not full and the game ended up as a dead rubber but the concept of Fully ticketed events do not work.
The two best crowds of the season imo was Anzac Eve and KB eve getting 83.9K and 83.5K respectively. They were that large because there were massive GA turnouts for both games.

I am obviously missing something here. Using off the cuff figures, MCC reserved seats, say 30k, same for AFL members, 30k. That leaves 40k for club members and general public. (I’m ignoring corporate allocations so the number would I presume be even less)
We have say 50k legitimate members (excluding pets, kids, etc). Say the Ferals have 60k.
Even if you assume that only half will want tickets, that is 55k looking for tickets but only 40k available. Does this mean that some members (from both clubs) will miss out?I’ll be shocked if there are any tickets left for the general public come 3pm.
This raises even more questions. Why will we only get 90k or thereabouts turning up as people are suggesting when the capacity is 100k? Surely the AFL section will be full. Likewise the MCC on this occasion.
Given that it is a BIG final, why would (using my assumption above) so many members choose not to attend? (even if allowing that it is a Thursday night game)
What am I missing here? The numbers just don’t seem to add up on so many different levels.
Ultimately your numbers are completely incorrect.
MCC is 23K, AFL is about 17K for finals with Medallion club getting 4k (within the AFL reserve). The afl loses Q28 for finals.
That leaves 56K left for the rest of the ground.
The reason the ground doesn't get to 100K is because additional standing room areas become available for the GF, Corporate boxes won't be completely full like they are for a GF, Medallion Club won't be completely full and there will be no shows.
The MCG has seen multiple games that have been "fully ticketed" with the whole ground sold out and the crowds for those games have been 74k, 76K, 78k, 80k, 83.5k and 95K. It is so hard to get to capacity.

I reckon the Thursday night fixture will [censored] it up to some extent. 85 -89k is my guess.
Its going to be somewhere between 91-94, would have been higher on the Friday. But based on how quick the 3 reserves have sold it will be above 90 easily.

nah its pretty much impossible for it to be 100K in a non-grand final game.

TICKETING: SF vs Carlton
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
To add to the stupidity, the Storm are playing at exactly the same time and their tickets go on sale at the same time as club members tomorrow.
