Hopefully he can get his body right. Will be a force if he can.

I'm on board with Simon Goodwin. I think he's got a vision, appears to have good relations with players and coaches and produced a good result under very difficult conditions with injuries this year. I like his calm demeanour in the box and in the media. I was bitterly disappointed in the R23 result and other poor losses to North x2, Freo and Hawthorn and it shows we have some way to go in "the journey" - but we are on the way. I've bought into the contest being the key to winning premierships and the last 2 GFs vindicate this where contested ball stats - Richmond 170 v Adelaide 140 and Dogs 172 v Swans 149 - the less talented but more competitive team won both times. We are decent at contested ground balls but we are pathetic at the aerial contest - we were outpointed countless times this season down the line. Recruiting Lever and getting Hogan back will go some way to address this. But we must generally improve across the board in this area. The residual concern I have is about our turnovers going forward outside defensive 50. Far too many times we missed easy open targets or kicked 15m half-volleys to open players who were then under pressure for the next disposal. When we turn it over, we have to work extremely hard back the other way and this saps our competitive energy. It doesn't seem like "ball movement" is a priority to the FD - maybe we can't have everything - it will be interesting to see how it plays out next year.

FWIW I agree with @Leoncelli_36 about Lily Mithen and Troy Chaplin - overt display of support for another club is just not on. Heart beats true!

Organisations have fundamental values that must be embraced by all and Jack is unable to embrace the fundamental appetite for the contest. Yeah Jeremy Howe is flourishing at a team which finished 13th - he represents their model.

It's clear that the winning the contest is non-negotiable for Simon Goodwin and it is negotiable for Jack Watts. This has been made clear to Jack and he has been unable to modify his behaviour. We have been decent in contested ground balls but we are pathetic at the aerial contest and Jack Watts at 196cm offers nothing here. So he will be traded. The last 2 GFs vindicate this position - contested possessions Tigers 170 v Crows 140, Dogs 172 v Swans 149 - the less talented team won both flags - it's that simple. Looking at market value. Jake Melksham for 25, Michael Hibberd for 29 and late pick upgrade. That where he sits.

Watts is gone, even Jumbo is trying to get used to it.

If 6 straight up would get Lever. I'd do Watts +10 for 6 + 36 to the Pies.

Really? Dangerfield on Motlop's two way running. "It’s a sacrificial role that he embraces every week and it was great to see him get a reward [on Friday] night.” http://www.geelongcats.com.au/news/2017-09-18/danger-backs-mots

There is no way he will be suspended for that PF collision. However he should have been suspended for both of the other incidents he was fines for.

What a joke! And I confess I've fallen for it over the years. Draft quality does vary from year to year but future predictions are fraught. It's not even clear yet how strong the 2016 draft was let alone the 2018 draft. It's only now that there's some evidence for assessing the strength of the 2015 draft.

Motlop was good on Friday night against the tide. He played 2 good finals games where he worked hard. He offers pace and creativity we lack. Probably end up at North or Port and star against us.

He didn't say that. https://au.sports.yahoo.com/afl/a/37110103/patrick-dangerfield-fires-first-sledge-back-at-jenkins-and-crows/

You may need to consult with @jumbo returns and @binman
-
You've been pressing this line for ages - and it has happened - look at Ryan Ferguson for Brad Sewell. But if the club makes it clear to Watts that they don't value retaining him then he's going to be better off moving on. Think about the conversation.
-
Or the club is painting the picture for members when a favourite of many is traded. I'm a Watts fan but there's absolutely no doubt he's tradeable for the right currency.
-
Or he could be describing things as they are.

I feel like Alice in Wonderland. Try to follow the thread. I didn't compare Lever with Rance, I compared him with Hogan. The point is that Lever is a young star of the competition like Hogan, Petracca, Oliver. Lever is CHB in Best 22 Under 22 two years in a row - Hogan, Petracca and Oliver have also made that team once. When you are thinking about the trade value for Lever you need to think in terms of what you would want for Hogan, Petracca or Oliver in similar circumstances. Pick 10 and change is not going to cut it.
-
I'm sure Richmond wouldn't see it that way - they'd look for the same value in trade for each. Rance more if anything.
-
Carlton value him that high and he's in contract so they hold the aces.
-
Rance v J.Riewoldt?

Adelaide want Gibbs and Carlton played hard ball last year demanding 2 x 1st rounders. Something like this could play out, noting that unfortunately Carlton do not have a 2017 2nd: Adelaide: Out: 17 + Lever; In: 10 + Gibbs Carlton: Out: Gibbs + 2018 2nd; In: 17 + MFC 2018 1st MFC: Out: 10 + 2018 1st; In: Lever + Carlton 2018 2nd
