Yep, it was us, not joking. it was during the Daniher era
-
I do agree with you that he looked good, however the switch may be made depending on the attributes /performance of the pair. I do see a bit of a young Nieta in Petty so happy to give him the first crack.

I'm assuming you mean Joel?

Was at the Forum. I'm not sure whether it was during Goody's presentation or during Q & A. I haven't done a report coz most things have been covered by others but I did write the above in my notes. Actually, going back over my notes I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "game style" or "the plan" very much. Goody (aka "the stubborn") said it will be based around contested footy but it will be tweaked. I was very happy with this. I'm glad he isn't taking the knee jerk approach so many on here would advocate. He may not have reviewed the WC prelim loss but I'm sure he has reviewed the season past. Happy that he will hold to his course and I'm sure the players will be comfortable and welcome the consistency. I think the lesson has been learned that it will not just happen though. I have a personal philosophy that I've hopefully instilled in my children and I think the players have adopted this approach to the preseason. "If it is to be, it is up to me" Sorry... words, words, words. Proof will be in the seeing

Goodwin has stated Petty will play forward and Joel Smith back

On another note I use to talk to the old Property Manager who worked through all the Daniher years. I think it was 2007 he told me he didn't think we would do any good that year because the tackle bags weren't brought out until the end of January.

That's my recollection as well and some of it was scathing, belittling and could be catagorised as bullying. The mods really had to tighten up on it. I always found it interesting that many of the perpetrators never attended training and would get really annoyed when Saty said he knew (insert whatever) because he had spoken to a coach or player directly. As time has moved on I have noticed that Saty will wind up or bait a few of them and they cannot help themselves. Sad, but strangely amusing at the same time. The irony of a group of people whinging about a Pom who is way to positive in his reporting and looks through rose coloured glasses.

Ok, you got me, for you dazzle ( small d) and that great intellectual SWYL, lets go through this shall we ( that's a statement not a question). You have both missed the sentiment of this thread haven't you? Oh, the irony! "What a great thread" Well the intent was admirable, but then it got highjacked by exactly the people it was (I believe) supposed too hold a mirror up to ie go have along hard look at yourselves. "Hypocrisy" everywhere. Well that's accurate is it not? Oh, I get it some of you don't understand the word. Definition; "a situation in which someone pretends to believe something that they do not really believe, or that is the opposite of what they do or say at another time". I don't think that fits Saty does it? He has been boringly consistent in his support for the Club even while occasionally asking some tough questions of it in a respectful manner. Conversely, look up the word support or supporter definition and I see a number of people here who are not supporting the Club/Players but are active in voicing an opinion that is derogatory, abusive and disrespectful. Tell me where does that "hypocrisy" finger really point. It's a forum and you can express an opinion, yeah right, absolute bollocks. Sorry Saty you can express an opinion just watch out for the supporters who don't like scooter riding Poms with beards. By the way I do have a beard (not as resplendent as Saty's) You can express an opinion and as long as it agrees with a small noisy minority on here you won't get trolled or abused from behind the anonymity of a keyboard. See above, ...... I do think small and minority is an over use of the same descriptor and in voicing your opinion Saty I would hope you stick to annoying only one group at a time. I'm starting to worry I may be targeted next. When will this Stop. (I'm a an older, white, heterosexual male but not a Pom, but I do have an opinion ) But you can post unfounded rumour as if it was a proven fact. Don't think I've ever seen Saty post a unfounded rumour, I've seen him post some things based on what he has been told and occasionally that has been incorrect. At least that has been based on something. I've seen many posts on here that are opinion based on the posters feelings/intuition and lack any connection to facts You can also put the same sentiment expressed in different ways in every thread to bore the [censored] of everybody. What can I say, this is so true of lot's of posters on here ... one of you is Ian aren't you! Ok, Saty is guilty of this sometimes as well. You can also disparage any person remotely connected with the MFC, again from behind the anonymity of a keyboard. This is a big one, you are really trying to point the finger at Saty for this one? Come on get serious, if your not Ian you must be his brother. You will never have the ability to laugh at yourself. Now I don't know Saty well enough to say I've seen him laugh at himself but I think I've seen him come close. As for the rest of us I can say I have the ability to laugh at myself and will no doubt, when I read my own post tomorrow. Some of the people here will likewise remain humourless and probably clueless. This is the truth of a public internet forum. Is he wrong? For those of you who have difficulty understanding some of the bigger words I've used here, please use the internet in the first instance but feel free to PM me for interpretation of any nuance.

I've highlighted the word "durability" in your post because that is a word Burgess used at the forum. Everyone needs to understand that Burgess is the one behind everything that is different and being done this preseason. None of this is by chance it is all by design. Burgess has been consistent that training will replicate game day. That doesn't mean reckless attack on the man. I saw a great example on Wed during the handball only drill where they use the "goal" posts (about 2m apart) at each point of the compass played within the centre square. Pig had received the ball and was steaming in to score when Petracca mowed him down and put him to ground. The initial contact was loud and forceful like you would hear at a game. However, instead of continuing and driving Hibbo into the ground Petracca took him to ground but eased off the last bit ie; not reckless on a teammate. The learning (god I hate new age speak, what's wrong with lesson?) was; why did none of Pigs teammates not warn him he was about to "wear" one. For Dee Spencer: If your about to be seriously tackled (when it's you that has the ball) wouldn't you like your teammates to shepherd, warn or block for you. It's difficult to train/ instill this behavior, if the threat is not "real"

Your familiar with the word "coincidence"? I agree a lot went wrong but I don't see any other teams starting there preseasons with 16 of the top 22 players having had surgery. We were in unfamiliar territory going deep into September. As long as we have taken the learnings from it I will continue to remain positive about the future. Yes, there were many other "learning" opportunities but you can only judge the team on the season they are focused on. The angst and impatience exhibited on this site are completely understandable but we need to be careful we don't turn into Richmond pre their recent success. If you believe that the course is true you need to maintain confidence you will reach the destination. If not then why are you on the journey?

I was just trying to clarify what you were asking. Burgess did speak about the nature of a game ie walk, jog, sprint and designing a program that matched/ supported that. I'm going to training on Wed and also the forum tomorrow night, will see if I can get more specifics.

Have you listened to the Burgess interview?
-
No, it doesn't bother me because it's history. I am interested in what actions have been taken to address the issues. There is plenty of evidence to show the Club taking action to rectify things. Taking note of what has been changed, what I've read leads me to conclude that the Club has been very active. I can see that it bothers you and I don't know how much attention you've been paying but listen to the Burgess interview and follow up with the Lystics AFL podcast and then look at what has been done and you will see the correlation. If someone wants to go along to the forum and bleat about the past season and they haven't done their due diligence , then I will continue to think of them as a Muppet.

Thanks to Mrs W via Shaza, ANB ran it in 9.38

No that's not correct, it's just that people who see things in a glass half full way don't really understand what the negativity and glass half empty approach achieves. For the record the last Senior coach who didn't turn up to many of the Training Sessions was Mark Neeld. I guess he didn't think building relationships with his players and supporting and encouraging them at those times was very important. Go figure.
-
No, that's just an excuse, you were still potting players because that's what you do. Reality is, you wouldn't know if all those you just potted had run PB's. But you would find a way to still justify your opinion.

What are the chances some muppet gets up and harangues the officials about last year. This is my only concern about spending the time to attend. If we get a reasonable update directly from Goodwin , Pert and Bartlett and they don't talk in platitudes when answering questions it might be worth attending. Some intelligent questions would go a long way as well. Things that have been queried here recently would be good. Eg; What's going on with the Coaching Panel and the appointment of a Forwards coach. For myself, I would like to know if we have approached the MCC about access to the ground for Pre-Season training even if we only get it once or twice.

No Mrs W and I hope to see him at training on Wed however I believe he is due on Monday

I am and she has beautiful teeth because of it.

I can't believe I'm in the same boat. Converted Mrs Worship when she was 23. Thirty odd years later (emphasis on odd) she has "My Heart Beats True" tattooed on her forearm in red and blue musical notes. Doesn't stop her yelling "you and your bloody team" and "this is your fault" at me. Only thing that will stop that is a Premiership.

From Jon Ralph' " Melbourne will host ex-Fremantle half-forward Harley Bennell from December 3 as he trials for a rookie spot but have ruled out securing ex-Pies defender Sam Murray. "

Can vouch for this working, the most informative bit of the story wasn't about Pruess though. " Weideman will have a delayed start to the summer after a hip cleanout. "

AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE RULES 9 May 2019

I don't underestimate the inclusion of Langdon and Tomlinson and the effect they should have on the defensive system. They are both aerobic beasts and will be massive in getting back to support. Remember also that Tomlinson is the same size as Frost at 6ft 4in. So size wise will be able to compete with a WC big man.
