  1. I had no idea he had another contract, but to those who think it is pointless to be given another year - why recruit anyone 197cm tall then? If you give up after two years what's the bloody point of picking him up? Talls take time. I think if you pick up a kid over 195cm tall you are tacitly saying to all involved - this guy is here (in some fashion) until he is 22 unless he is a massive d!ck or has a terrible run with injuries.
  2. lol Very good. Seriously though, if you are 20 years old and a Demon - I will believe you. But that says more about me than anyone else. I certainly don't believe in the parents though, and now think that they are capable of anything... But we move on.
  3. Already agreed to be a rookie next year to give us flexibility. Will be elevated at the end of 2012 officially and elevated temporarily during 2012. Now here is an investment I am all for being a HBF. Rookie selection with pace and a great kick. Put him there and Blease in the middle.
  4. Of course it isn't. But if you were trying to change a culture of failure and less-than-optimal professionalism and one of your players did this, and it was the first playing group decision to make - what would you do? You could try and move past it, or gloss over it, but that is a worse message to send as your first message.
  5. I read this thread until the words "Colin is a victim" come across the page... The internet just sighed that someone wrote that on it.
  6. Now that is a strongly worded presser... Left the scene, damaged property and didn't contact the club. All confirmed. Idiot. (sigh)
  7. Neeld trying to set a standard. It's disappointing but it was unprofessional and dumb and we are trying to build something here.
  8. Just caught up with this. Nelson Cruz just lost a World Series. Unbelievable.
  9. I must say it is good to hear. My own pre-season starts mid-November and I am expecting to spew so that is the bare minimum to expect from the Dees players.
  10. I get what you are saying but I just see it as more likely that Gubby offered it (yuck) or Phil wanted it (eww). And Velocity was stuck in the middle with p.u.
  11. I can think of many GWS-initiated scenarios but not Velocity. It either came from Phil or Gubby, or from Dom Cobb and his well known art of Inception...(that's a pop culture reference)
  12. No it isn't. But Velocity suddenly doesn't go 'how about an extra $100k/$200k for the father?' They would have been told or given that instruction/offer. Gubby Allan and Phil HWMNBN have found each other, two peas in a ethically bankrupt pod.
  13. WYL - you need to read posts rather than glean. The father did something so ethically dubious I am having trouble understanding how one could fathom the audacity to tell your son you have managed to get a job at the club his father advised him to sign for. I am now glad not to have this family around the club anymore - I had little idea that this would be an option considered by adults with a son who is making the choice of his lifetime. I pity HWMNBN and it feels good. But, hey, I have a superiority complex...
  14. Your tirade against Bailey leads to the conclusion that he was the main reason why we were a failure. I doubt you disagree with that point, given that - and this is a direct quote - you think he "ran this club into the ground." The club was a basket case when we gave him the reigns and he made the best out of situation where an aging list were getting ready to be replenished as the club lurched into austerity, which hit the FD the hardest. Even requiring Bailey to fund an extra night of accomodation before 186 in a nice juxtaposition of his great service and his inevitable downfall. If you don't think our list is decent, or better than it was at the end of 2008, that is your right. But I thank Bailey for serving our club and for leaving it more healthy than when he found it.
  15. The father attempted, and got, a job out of his sons contract negotiations. That doesn't sound like a Lynch-Blucher problem, it sounds like a 'what can you do for me, as I send my son your way' problem. And as you said during the height of this - representation is just an extension of the player. The agent does as the player/players family wishes.
  16. BUMP Lots of happy and expectant Demons in this thread too. The draw is never what you think it may be...
  17. This thread feels like deja vu...
  18. Skinny small. I don't think he will build up like other 184cm mids. But that is just an opinion.
  19. I have no idea why you have changed the font but if it is to give your opinion a gravitas that it lacks it won't work - you have lumped all that happened to our club on Bailey and it is unfair, unreasonable, and not the truth. He is gone, and the past cannot be changed. It can be re-written and that is what you are doing. I have argued this for long enough during the time it was relevant, I don't feel the need to get into it while it is no longer relevant. Move on.
  20. I am not sure but I believe the Anzac day game has started late for a few years now. Anyway, yes it is annoying but that is what TV networks are good at.
  21. Harder to change the time of that game for faux traditional reasons. Can't have the vets waiting around an extra half hour... Not good PR.
  22. Which part do you roll your eyes at? The family finagled a job from the team they agreed their son to go to. That is ethically off-kilter. And we had no idea at the time of drafting the kid that the father would attempt to squeeze some easy money for himself out his son's second, and first live, contract. You could be rolling your eyes at the 'wanky' way I said it...

  24. Channel Seven want the footy to lead straight into the news. Say goodbye to 2.10 games.
