  1. My god you are setting yourself up for an awful Monday. I am all for semantical bloviating but they are good, we are also good, but we are working through bigger issues than they are with our general connection and forward delivery. Blow the siren.
  2. Not sure what you mean?? Jack Darling never became much of a player and then turned up in South America running a drug fueled junta. Now he is doing 15-20 in a Florida super max. I am so glad we went with LUCAS COOK WITH THAT PICK INSTEAD. Very glad.
  3. It’s fine to do crowd noise at training. But that point from the Pies fan is immediately where my head went - they do that chant in junk time - when they have already seen it up. If the game is on, they are too busy yelling abuse at the umpires or at Darcy Moore for being too woke. Just do crowd noise. And it may backfire, but if it has any impact - firstly, we won’t know, and, secondly, that is an indictment on the mentality of our players.
  4. You’ve heard the rumours too? JEEZ. Not good.
  5. The rumours are so bad. My stars, those rumours, wowee.
  6. Jeez, I dunno. I don’t think he is that good. And the rumours around him are pretty out there. I wouldn’t touch him, no sir. Not in this universe. Nup.
  7. The Pies rely on a swarm mentality on turnover especially if their back flank is set up and near the opportunity to turn it over. They leave their direct opponent and just trust each other to do the same and beat you at the contest 6 on 2 or whatever it is. It is so exciting and as a coach I love it because it shows absolute trust and connection. If I was to poke through it I would need the cattle to do it - ball winners on every line that back themselves and any teammate with in close play and then just get really predictable when the swarm comes; when it descends on me and my mate, we get it out to the lines through hands or we hit it to the corner of the square with kick whenever we can - make the outnumber work for you. If you cough it up easy its curtains. That is not to say we shouldn’t have dare - quite the opposite - but in the contest, holding the footy is a better result than a blaze away with hands or short kick. I think we have the cattle to win, but we will have to show better connection in the contest than I have seen the last few weeks and we will have to make better decisions in the front half - too panicky and weird self-invented pressure from what I have seen.
  8. Would say it is a slowness to get going again and you can be jumped by a team more locked in who played last week.
  9. Sometimes you have to sit it on heads but I get your point. His freedom may be his undoing though if he doesn’t get some help soon. If he is our only good tall option - other teams will know that too.
  10. Watched him closely in person the last two weeks and he has confirmed what I thought - he is a promising tall with good hands and a great propensity to leap aggressively at the footy in his marking routine. What he doesn’t have is great forward craft in terms of leading patterns and ability to read space and get into that space. That can come but it needs to be nurtured and protected. Nurtured through game style; keep allowing that movement and educating and getting confidence in both sides of the kick to him that he can get to where he needs to be, and protected in terms of who is getting the task of the target of slow play up the wing, and descended upon by the excellent third man up generation we have right now in the AFL. Really promising but I would be keen to invest in a Lewis/Larkey/King while we have our window open.
  11. Especially with our proclivity to kick to the boundary line - what’s he going to do - rove it in the third row?
  12. THIS PRESS CONFERENCE IS OVER
  13. For the last time, Jaded; yes, you’re old! 🙄
  14. Enlighten us with your take then.
  15. Has The Oracle returned? Has he breathed new life into our season?
  16. He really didn’t. He said we train with a high load all the time. It’s not loading if you did it all the time… Extra training around the bye week is not a loading regime. It’s extra training around a bye week. Loading is not an excuse or a reason for anything anymore.
  17. 59 I50s. 61 points. Yep
  18. Possibly. Or maybe they will be so far off it he calls it quits a few rounds early.
  19. Well Polly wants a cracker because this is either a ‘BBB is done’ situation or ‘he can only play 10 AFL games a year’ situation. I don’t understand it and I am worried more for JVR who is running about trying to play to where they are kicking it and looks so lost from time to time. Gawn and Grundy play like they ‘chip in’ to the forwards as a favour and we don’t have someone to the tough work now that TMac is out. Unless we suddenly move the ball better - get ready for more frustration and as many I50s as points…
  20. Logical
  21. Oh FCS, I did something similar to Fat Tony last year and was howled down; we would have very little cap space with the list we have and the fact that we absorbed Grundy and have resigned Pickett. Unless we move players a few middling first teamers or a star - we aren’t getting big names.
  22. Get 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 31, and 36 to a prelim and see what happens. Thats my motto. Rolls off the mother [censored] tongue…
  23. Good thing it’s an even year.
  24. You know what he bb is saying. As an aside, it is the very thing that will stunt JVR’s development - the way we move the footy and kick to packs in slow play. There’s no forward craft there, there is no lessons in movement and finding space, he will have to go defensive side of wing to get footy and no one gives a [censored] when your CHF is doing that.
  25. We should win in Mordor in front of those people - so that should be fun. We are playing ok, we are just sloppy and forever waiting for someone else to ignite us. The disease of ‘why me?’ is a thing in bball teams with star laden teams, maybe there is a bit of that. Hard to say.
