  1. It's such a beautiful story, I'm so glad KC is healthy now. How amazing is Mali for her paying tribute to her little brother like that!
  2. Long story of the representation of the flags. In short a few years ago the rights to the flag were sold to a clothing company who decided to exploit it for monetary gain, to the point where they were charging exorbanent fees for the use of the image and not investing it in indigenous programs like they promised. In fact they were threatening to sue people for using the flag without paying for it, which lead to a campaign to reclaim the rights and boycott that company. AFL were supportive of that campaign and they refused to pay to use the rights. Last year the federal government bought the rights back and made the use of the flag available for everyone to use again.
  3. I remember one time at the MCG, I think it was 1989, when Grinter squarely laid a punch in the guts of a Richmond player and got 7 weeks for his efforts (he had some suspended penalties on him). If he played today he'd be the most heavily fined player in the AFL.
  4. We absolutely should have won that game. We should win this given it's at the MCG and away from the kitty litter tray.
  5. Congrats, WCW!!! Can't wait for pics!!
  6. thank you, I may investigate this.
  7. My great grandfather Raymond Harbour fought in France in WWI, and while he came home alive, he did have a bullet lodged in him for the rest of his life that couldn't be removed. My mother attempted to trace her family tree, and couldn't go much further back than Raymond (her paternal grandfather) as it seems he was adopted as a young child - the records were not very well kept on these back in the late 19th century. We do know he was brought up in Bendigo, and that was where my grandfather was born. Pop Harbour was a very private man who did not like to speak much about his war experiences, however he did live until 1974, and one time, when my auntie was pregnant with my cousin Karen, Pop just one day opened up and just started talking. My uncle and mum started to record what he was talking about, and I wish I knew where that tape was. Not long after, Pop died, and then Karen was born. Edit - I've just discovered this on Pop, talking about his war medals. Uncle Alan has his medals. - https://vwma.org.au/explore/people/336690

  9. Sicily is still sporting a bruised ego from Fritta
  10. It will be interesting to see on what grounds.
  11. I'm going to poke the bear here. Isn't it interesting how one of the factors that got Maynard off was the opinion (I say that loosely) that he attempted to spoil the kick. Yet what got Max King suspended for a week? Ill-attempt of spoiling. Such [censored].
  12. 6. Trac 5. Frittata 4. Kozzy 3. Sparrow 2. Gawny 1. Postive Lingers Sooooo many honourable mentions - Nibbla, Rooey, Vines, TMac, BBB
  13. And doing it in a way that makes it a football act.
  14. Yes! Yes it was!!
  15. Sing with me! I love it when Collingwood choke It's football's greatest joke
  16. It really would have made my week to see BT in actual tears last night. Oh, well!!
  17. Not only Collingwood losing, but St Kilda getting a goal after the ball was quite clearly out of bounds
  18. I swear it is a criteria of the tribunal to determine who they're playing next. "Who's the opposition next round?" "Melbourne." "Oh, let's clear him then."
  19. The flaw in their logic is that unlike the other three clubs at the MCG, we're not mere tenants, We're the football arm of the MCC, which owns the MCG. They're not getting rid of us in a hurry.
  20. Where do most people sit in Melbourne games at the MCG? Olympic stand, MCC members, where the cameras aren't facing. those that were in the Shane Warne stand wound up moving to go into the shade instead of being human barbecue meat. Stupid point, really, if what you're relying your point on is what you saw on TV.
  21. Sam McClure was amongst them, yes, plus the usual Twitter nufties
  22. 6. Clarry. Love to see you close to being back to your best, buddy!! 5. May. I love watching him when he's firing. 4. Gawn. Totally outplayed English. 3. Petracca. Recovered well from an ordinary performance last week, to being unstoppable yesterday. 2. McDonald. Was superb 1. Viney. Sublime. Honourable mentions to Chin, Jibba, Rick, Kozzie, and Rooey
  23. So once again the journos and numpties on Twitter spent yesterday having a go at Melbourne about the crowd - where were they? why do they play Melbourne games at the MCG if they can't fill it? They'll always be a nothing club, blah blah blah. We've heard it all before, right? Here's my perspective: - 44,000 is still higher than the 2023 crowd average of 35,000 - the crowd yesterday was overwhelmingly Melbourne, yet no one was saying "where are the Bulldogs fans"? Why is that? Oh, because they're the darlings of the league. - The TV was focusing on the Shane Warne stand, rather than the Olympic Stand which was pretty chockers from where I could see - Of the 9 games, yesterday's crowd was the 4th highest of the weekend. No one was criticising the other games that had lower attendances than ours. My take is this - the media and the meatheads couldn't pick on Melbourne, couldn't pick on Goodwin, couldn't pick on Oliver, so let's roll out the barrel on the usual rubbish. Because Melbourne. I'm sick of [censored]....
  24. With all due respects, given the season launch was on the same day as Gus announced his retirement, most people were thinking about him, not Joel Smith, but anyway. I find it ironic you should say WCW is sensitive, given the sensitive way you're reacting to the president of the club say cheer louder. Wow.
