  1. Are people expecting a glowing critique of our 2023 finals series? If yes, then I'd suggest those people ignore the media for the next week or 2.
  2. Can anyone provide further details on this?
  3. Joel Smith doesn't seem too phased by the set shot pressure. I don't think he missed one since Kings Bday. 11.4 for the season and consideration needs to be made for him to retain his position in the forward line next year. A Carlton supporter I spoke to post game seriously rated his performance last week.
  4. Our suspensions let us down this year in marginal losses the following week: 1) Kozzie round 1 - lose to Brisbane in round 2 by a margin that Kozzie could've pegged back on his own. 2) Sparrow round 9 - lose to Port in round 10 3) Hunter round 10 - lose to Freo in round 11 4) JVR QF - lose to Carlton in SF 5) Kozzie SF - round 1 2024?? (and would have depleted our forward line even more if we got through to the prelim)
  5. As stated yesterday, the Adelaide V Sydney goal umpiring howler would have had to be the AFL's lowest moment since the competition changed its name in 1990. Cost a side a finals series. Do people really think they would have made the most unforced howler 4 weeks later by incorrectly overturning a goal that should not have been overturned. I think not. They clearly had conclusive evidence that wasn't available for the broadcaster to show the viewers.
  6. After the Adelaide debacle, do posters genuinely believe that the AFL are going overturn a goal at the break of play if they're not 500% sure it was or wasn't touched?
  7. Kozzie's inaccuracy was genuinely gross at the end of the year. Fitting that our final score of the season was a Kozzie Pickett point. 4.8 in the final 4 games and who knows how many complete misses.
  8. And the stats back it up. From the round 19 Richmond game onwards Lever took 29 marks in the 3 games that Tomlinson played. Lever took just 13 marks in the 4 games that Tomlinson didn't play. Tomlinson allowed to Lever and May to play good to very good games against Carlton, and those 3 were far from the reason we lost albeit TDK got a hold of Tommo for a bit of the first half.
  9. For a bit of balance Bedford's kicked 12.16 this year including an absolute sitter from near the goal square on the weekend. Had he played a full season, he was on track for a 16.20 season. We've cried out for accuracy this year from our forwards. Not sure whether Bedford would have solved that solution.
  10. It would be so Toby Greene to kick 5 goals, win them the game and get himself suspended for the GF after 2 years of being on his best behaviour.
  11. Round 22 v Carlton: Carlton kick the first 2 goals of the last quarter at the 28 second mark and the 2 minute mark. Semi final v Carlton: Carlton kick the first 2 goals of the last quarter at the 1 and 3 minute marks. Gee, I thought we may have gone to school on such a costly start to the last quarter of round 22, but not to be….
  12. In fairness to Cornes he never once gave Port a chance to win the flag. Said their defence wouldn’t be up to scratch in finals and he was proven correct. His defence of Maynard was cringeworthy but he was correct with Port.
  13. Aside from his football talents, Toby Greene won me over during the week on AFL 360 with his no BS no cliche interviews. When Gerard Whateley asked him if he had a major amount of empathy for the scrutiny placed on Maynard, his simple answer was “no”
  14. The number 1 priority was to get Collingwood the Friday night prelim as reward for getting the minor premiership. I can’t stand the filth but they deserved the potential 8 day break into the GF regardless of the clubs below them.
  15. Definitely want them to lose the least out of Brisbane, Pies and Carlton. Nothing would give me greater satisfaction than GWS rolling Collingwood in front of 90,000 stunned mullets, ruing another wasted home and away season for the Pies. I thought we lost to a BOG ordinary team in Alice Springs at the time but it couldn’t be any further from the truth.
  16. GWS already have 2 more scoring shots than Carlton’s total score last night and it’s not even half time.
  17. Yep. Collingwood losing a GF > Collingwood losing a prelim.
  18. Off to the Port Bigfooty forum and specifically the sack Hinkley thread for a half time giggle.
  19. Early days but it looks as though Port are joining us in the straight sets exit club. If GWS can handle the 90,000 occasion and are efficient around goals, then Collingwood have got something to think about.
  20. In case you haven’t heard for the 57th time this week, GWS has won at 11 different venues this year. Prefer GWS to win so we’re not the only ones with the inglorious embarrassment of going out in straight sets.
  21. Pickett suspended for 1 week, and will miss round 1 next year. A nice parting gift.
  22. I was impressed with his season as he dealt with key injuries and made positional changes, while finishing top 4. He had a woeful finals series though.
  23. Mabier Chol would have been handy last night as a goal kicking relief ruckman. Has 4.4 to 3 quarter time in today’s VFL prelim and is apparently on the market.
  24. I don’t think they’ll do much next week against Brisbane, and if they are to win they’re going to have step up their scoring. 18 scoring shots isn’t going to pay the bills next week. I found them to be a step down in class compared to Collingwood, although Walsh was something else.
  25. Agreed. I cannot fathom why a team would not use their sub in a high stakes game like last night. We automatically conceded a competitive advantage by Carlton having a fresh Ollie Hollands run around in the last quarter.
