Izak wouldn’t have been born the year that song was kicking around. Good start Crows - 50-21

Jackson drops a mark in the goal square at the 50 second mark.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
Bring-Back-Powell replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon today will tell us where they’re going this year. 50/50 game on the road against a side that’s hot off the showdown. Start 1-3 and they’re going to have to go on a couple of 3-4 game winning streaks if they hope to make finals. -
Here’s to a Freo loss and a stock standard 0-1 mark game from LJ.

Welcome to Demonland: James Jordon
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Goodwin says a lot of strange things in pressers. The two recent ones that come to mind are: 1) adamant rather than confident that May would play in round 2. 2) continually and supremely confident Jackson would stay - “loves his footy club” I wouldn’t be surprised if JJ does suit up Sunday whether it be sub or a late replacement for Hibberd. I don’t recall an MFC player to ever be dropped after the level of output that JJ gave to the club last week. -
Jordon stiff to be getting dropped off a 21 possession 8 mark game.

Top of the ladder at the end of the round for our boys doesn’t seem all that fanciful at the moment. (Saints will have a stinker sooner or later)

Judd McVee Signs Extension until 2025
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's absolutely Corey Wagner from Freo, listed as $151. Can't believe they've got a 26 year old in the rising star market. Either the TAB have complete incompetence working for them or they're trying to rip the public off with bogus betting options. -
Judd McVee Signs Extension until 2025

Very impressed with his first and third games of his career, and was spoken about as a rough chance of getting a Rising star nomination for round 3. Speaking of the AFL rising star award winner, you can't even put a bet on him on the TAB but yet you can get $151 for Corey Wagner (ex Dee) to win the rising star award despite being 5 years too old to be eligible. -
Jake Lever on 2022 finals injury
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The round 9 game V's West Coast puzzled me the most. They had 11 of their best 25 players out, and yet we took a full strength side over to Perth rather than rest 3-5 players in what was a 98% guaranteed win. Hopefully some great lessons were learnt last year, and we've got sufficient depth to rest players on a regular basis during the season. -
Agree with all that. He was the one that kicked the steadying goal at the 15 minute mark of the third quarter after Sydney got within 6 points and looked like they were about to overrun us. It was a tough set shot to make as well.
-
Hibberd didn’t finish the game and appeared injured, so that probably makes things easier re:Kozzie coming back in.
-
And it’s so pleasing that we’ve played two outstanding MCG games after a very patchy run of games there last year. If we going to lose the odd game such as last week you’d rather it be away from the G.
-
Rankine or Thilthorpe could’ve easily won the medal over Dawson.
-
It’s the 3:20pm free to air time slot which is usually the number 3 ranked game of the weekend. Take it as a complement.

St Kilda are playing finals this year. They have a laugher of a game next week Vs Gc at Marvel to start 4-0, and they’re only going to get better with Steele, Billings, King, Membery and Coffield to come back. Now I’m not saying they’re a flag contender, but then again was anyone saying we were a flag contender after our round 3 2021 win over GWS?
-
Hogan a sneaky 8 goals from 2 games and a quarter.
-
McRae reckons an MCL, but they’ll be without a recognised ruck for the Brisbane game next week.
-
You'd think Tomlinson would be an emergency if May's in doubt, but who knows?? Having only Petty and Lever to take on the three pronged attack of Buddy, McDoanald and Amartey would be fraught with danger if May's out but no cover from Tomlinson.

Clem Michael was an absolute super star for Freo circa 1999. Looks like old mate Juzzy has just realised that Jackson isn't a forward's boot lace and will be playing more midfield minutes this weekend. https://www.afl.com.au/news/892738/in-the-guts-jl-forecasts-big-midfield-move-for-under-fire-recruit (in other news Nic Nat out next week, so at least Grundy will be facing a no name ruck department) -
Absolutely fair point, and as posters we sometimes forget that these players that represent our club have families and lives outside of football to worry about. From a selection integrity point of view, Harmes's form has been waning since the mid season rounds of last year to the point where he lost his spot in the 22 late in the season, after a fantastic start to 2022 where he was a 20 possession/1.5 goal a game player. He clearly hasn't reclaimed his form this year, and JJ has taken his spot accordingly.
-
Possibly, but you’d imagine he’d be dropped regardless.
-
Is there any truth to Ladhams being out or is it a matter of a DL poster or two getting their wires crossed? I've seen or heard nothing to suggest he's out, so I'd expect him to be playing, as much as it would be handy for Sydney not to have a recognised ruck.
-
Agree with this. Players with serious points of difference are worth their weight in gold. Last week was the first week with how life could look potentially look without Kozzie and it didn't look great, given we lacked spark in the midfield and inside 50. Kozzie only missed one game over the 2021-2022 seasons and it was the Hawks game last year where half the side had COVOD.

Looking for the current captain to make up for his really poor performance last week. Lever will clearly be vice captain on Sunday, and will most likely captain the club after Max either retires or steps down as skipper.
