  1. Gary Lyon was campaigning for Gawn to play the majority of minutes in the ruck, last night on "The Couch" He obviously didn't say this but I got the impression from Lyon that if Grundy's forward craft didn't improve then Casey could be an option for Grundy.
  2. In 2017 Geelong played a few early season home games at Marvel. We were lucky enough to be one of those away teams that avoided the Cattery. In the original 2020 fixture we were scheduled a late season Saturday twilight game down there. In the revised COVID fixture it got transferred to the MCG as a home game for us. In 2021 we were fixtured at GMHBA before the season started and ended up playing there.
  3. I would much rather play a home game at Marvel V's GWS (than Alice) in front of our crowd, where the majority of the supporter base can attend after being essentially locked out of GMHBA if you didn't book a ticket quick enough. So that's 2 weeks in a row where the the MFC faithful won't be attending, in addition to the round 4/5 fortnight earlier in the year. I can bet your bottom dollar the players would much rather play this Sunday's game at Marvel rather than hopping on yet another flight where out interstate record is below average this year (we even treated last week's Geelong game as interstate game and look how that turned ou) From a recovery perspective the players would also rather play in VIC as they'll need to back up a 6 day break against St Kilda on a fast track. We lost to the Dogs last year (at Marvel) off a 6 day break from Alice. Let's punt the Alice game and move our 11th home game to Marvel when ever this current contract expires.
  4. Crows have brought the margin back from 36 to 3.
  5. Agree 1000% with this. It’s a better result to have teams just below us losing and creating a gap for our top 4 hopes. We might end up finishing 4th and play Collingwood (1st) which would totally offset the home ground advantage of finishing top 2.
  6. On that theory get on Freo to beat the Dogs, Essendon to beat Port and Hawthorn to beat Carlton next week. All under dogs.
  7. Agreed. His last 8 weeks have been unrecognisable compared to the majority of his 2022 season.
  8. Can someone please explain to me why Freo beating Essendon is a bad thing, considering we now have a game and percentage break on a top 4 aspirant in Essendon. I just don’t understand why sliding 2 or 3 positions up the draft is more of a priority than keeping top 4 aspirants at bay. And Luke Jackson has been phenomenal tonight (sadly)
  9. It’s not sacrilegious. It’s just common sense.
  10. Agreed. Absolutely no benefit in Essendon winning tonight with respect to our top 4 aspirations.
  11. I think you’re in the Majority that want the Bombers to win. I’m in the minority that want Essendon to lose tonight (and in future weeks) so we can get as much top 4 breathing space as we can from the likes of Essendon, Bulldogs, St Kilda etc..
  12. This. You can forgive a player for making a mistake in the heat of the moment. No excuses for the coaching staff that took 2 or 3 days to make one of the most stupidest selection decision I can remember under Goodwin.
  13. Based on those odds we’ve got no business losing this one.
  14. Very unimpressive. Stewart made us all feel sorry for him after his unreserved apology to Prestia last year, and had us convinced it was just a brain snap. However that act on Viney confirmed his character, at least on field (he might be a ripper bloke off it??)
  15. Great result but the whole adjudication of the dangerous tackle is confusing and inconsistent.
  16. I don’t hope Essendon win tonight. They’re nipping at our heels for a top 4 spot and I expect them to beat Port next week (post bye theory) and then Adelaide at Marvel. Then their easy fixture commences shortly after.
  17. Unpopular opinion here but I hope Fremantle win tonight. Essendon have a joke of a fixture in late July/August (Nth, Wc, Syd, GWS) and are a legitimate chance to take our spot in the top 4.
  18. Not against this. Blokes that know where the goals are, have proven forward craft and will assist in fixing our accuracy woes. Ben Brown won’t fluff around with his set shots. I’d be looking at Melksham as sub on a regular basis on the run home.
  19. Sadly I don’t think he’ll be making the flight. GWS are $4.70 and off the bye. We’ve got no business losing this one.
  20. Yes it sucks to drop a spot. However, it’s an indictment on us if an Essendon, Dogs or Adelaide knock us out of the top 4. Its our spot in the top 4 to lose given our reasonable run home in August.
  21. Darcy Fort’s a worse sub option than Spargo.
  22. I thought you were intimating the struggles post bye. Every “fresh” club has lost thus far, including Brisbane’s loss to Hawthorn. Those 3 games I mentioned for next week, I’m sure at least one or two outsiders will salute based on the post bye theory.
  23. Very early days but the iPhone weather app has Sunday week in Alice at 15 degrees. Hopefully we might avoid a warm one.
  24. So based on your theory you can get some serious value next week on Essendon beating Port, Hawthorn beating Carlton and Fremantle beating Dogs. All underdogs. Multi paying $18.
  25. It was the turning point of the game. We had a 6 or 7 point lead at the stage.
