Watching Brisbane play that final quarter was exactly like watching Melbourne play. Dominated the inside 50s, kicked behind after behind & could not buy a goal

Yeah, but Brisbane don't do it week after week for 3 years like us

The roof is the big issue for me. We should have told the AFL where to go when they demanded a roof. No other expansion team or any team for that matter had such a demand put on them.

Weather here is ok to already play 8 games a season without any roof. We get less rain than NSW and Queensland. Yes it’s colder and maybe a bit windy. Deal with it.

Roof also means that no cricket games could be played there so it would just be around 8 AfL games a season as o assume 3/4 would be played in Launceston.

AFL is played in Canberra while it's snowing. It's an outdoor sport fcs!

How on earth have they played league footy and produced so many champions over the years without a roofed stadium?!!!

  3. Future not looking positive for Devils

    • Stadium not wanted by 60% of Tasmanians

    • Cost blow out to $1.5b or more

    • Higher stadium demands than other AFL stadiums (roof, waterside location, timing)

    • Stadium location debatable

    • Unlikely to play cricket there due to roof shadows, so only AFL and 'events'

    • Pointy end draft concessions other clubs despise

    • Further player and sponsorship pool diluting

    • Small population will mean small attendances and revenue

    • No underwrighting guarantees from AFL, unlike GWS

    • Doesn't add to tv rights significantly

Despite this, and in true Australian political style, the premier signed off on contract demands that were always going to be impossible to meet

If by some chance the team does get off the ground in 2028 or whenever it is proposed to enter the competition, my bet is they will struggle on and off the field and will fold within 5-10 years. They're always going to be behind the 8 ball

I've heard from a number of people that it's widely acknowledged Choco has a shelf life of 2-3 years as an assistant before he gets too comfortable and his ability to inspire and develop players wanes.

    Ess 4 years , GWS 2 and Richmond 3.

This will now be his 6th season with us.

He's the head of development and responsible for kicking skills

Not sure he's the right man anymore

The State can’t afford it, so the AFL would be mad to go ahead with any intent at this stage

    Revisit in 5 years

I tend to agree, based upon the rumored cost and short timeline.

Small population/economy, with considerable disadvantage outside of Hobart. The money the Tas State government has committed would do a lot for education, healthcare and employment generally.

Would it be a different story if the Fed govt put in the majority of the funds? Maybe.

I find it hard to believe a 25,000 seat stadium would cost around $1.5b which is what it will be (if not more) when the first ball is bounced.

The roof is unnecessary. I've watched the Dees in Canberra mid winter when it was 6 deg all afternoon and sleet came in at 45deg. Fcs, the Hawks game there had snow! If there's no need for a roof there, the AFL should ease up on it for Tassie.

AFL requirements making it near impossible for this to happen

  6. How is it that the ball drop of Gawn and Trac have not been corrected? We've been banging on about it on here for years.

It's like they are trying trick shots at goal for s**** and giggles. Look at Trac's 25m checkside from a slight angle, or Pickett's rushed left foot around the body

Is chocco our kicking coach? Hope he's paid on a % of goals to behinds basis

Our i50 conversion and kicking for goals has been terrible for several years. Not a myth. It's a given that we will pepper the goals and score far more behinds than goals. Inside 50s are a shambles. Remember the two finals vs Coll and Carlton? It's taken a game like this to highlight that IMO it is our main weakness. It's literally the difference between winning and losing. Kick straighter and we win far more often (derrr!)

Let's start by replacing Chocco. He has a shelf life at most clubs of 2-3 years, and this will be his 6th year with us. He's too comfortable.

Second, no more cross body kicks for goal. Perhaps Milkshake is the exception.

Third, Max either aims for the right side behind space or he gives it off.

Fourth, stop congesting the f50. High half forwards: gtfo out of there!

Fifth, 1 long bomb to every 2 attempted hit up or chaos ball

Sixth.... I lost my train of thought...

    Rant over 😵‍💫
