Please elaborate? all I recall is him beating his opponent on the lead with speed (but can’t recall who that opponent was) or much else
-
What was the year where Joel Smith showed some form as a forward in the pre-season, before getting injured. Maybe 2019? If my memory serves me correctly he kicked 4 in the last pre-season game, looked a million dollars, and it came out after the game that he played a half with an injured hammy
-
Certainly short. I guess you could make a case that our form over the past 6 weeks is actually significantly stronger than theirs, when you consider who they have beat, and some of the games where they played poorly and just fell over the line.

Great point. In the 80’s, 90’s early 2000’s when the sport was not as professional, maybe “hunger”, “spirit” and the like was a bigger factor in results. In today’s professional game, with so many of the 1 % ers just an expectation for all players, the “edge” that decides games has potentially shifted, since some of these ex-football commentators were running around. -
We should be outright favourites for the flag. Potentially will be after we Deestroy Coll & Carlton.

Sorry overly harsh with a poor attempt at humour. Brown for Weid = ✅ agree would love to see JVR if they think he is ready. Harmes, Bowey maybe unlucky because Melk, Rivers, Hunt all be tough to drop.

Is their any other options? as the “heart” appears broken, and the “head” concussed

Ha, good point. Jakey should be a bit more careful. ”We are naturally pushing the boundaries” might be better -
Perfect VC, and great on field leader. Complimentary to Max. Am sure, Maxy leverages JV’s intensity, in moments when he feels the group needs it. But not sure JV has the different emotional levels and awareness of individual player needs to be skip again.
-
And not surprisingly our 2 way running, defensive zone, intensity at contest on Fri night all looked very similar to the St.Kilda game

Crows 97-98 loading programs got heaps of attention and acknowledgement as key factors behind their flags. As well as their early adoption of sports science more generally. Goody might have been taking notes -

Of which Goody was a key player -
So much still to play out. We really should just forget about it, and re-visit after we win the flag. What happens if LJ plays another key role in a GF win, and Freo bombs out early. Be so very tough to leave. And he could back-flip a decision at any moment during his many post flag celebration beers 🍻

Oh ol! This will upset some people! And that was 15 years ago!! Think how much sports science has developed since then. A key point being that they could push things to the max, because they had games up their sleeves. Clearly something they wouldn’t have done if a 50/50 for top 4 or top 8. Interesting also that it comes out 15 years later. I look forward to Trac talking us through the 2021/2022 loading programs around 2037 -

Well said. Is such a 50/50 as to which stance they will take. But one thing we know for sure is it will be exaggerated. Melk and the Freo jumper. You can imagine pre show, some debate about “do we go hard saying this is evidence of ruthlessness and why Melb turned it around”, or “should we keep banging on about the cultural problems Melb have this year” -

Yep, silly us and our confirmation bias. By “pushing the boundaries”, might have also meant, pushing the mental boundaries? Peak ruthlessness? :)) -
And dogga holds a press conference on the eve of the first final. “I just want to make the Demons great again!”
-
We used it against them by Oliver playing a team game, opening up space for other free players, and other team focused acts. Is no coincidence that all our other mids were the best players on the ground (Trac, Viney, Gus)
-
I guess I interpreted “a bit of a rest” as a light week, but maybe goody was meaning the usual post game rest.
-
Given how well we leveraged the tag from a team perspective, other teams with think twice before applying a heavy tag to Oli or Trac
-
With Brayshaw getting 5 coaches votes (Gus not Andrew), I can’t see Gus being moved out of the midfield for Harmes unless there is a tagging requirement. Especially given the depth we have on the half-back flank, and therefore not losing much by taking Gus from the backline

Agree. As long as us “loaders” continue to be seen as nutters, who are just part of Binman’s cult we should be safe :)) -

My interpretation of what he said from about 3mins 40 on, was “goody always says there is a delay for the benefits from our good work at training to show on game day” ie train hard for a month, then benefits a few weeks after that. “we have been training hard for a good 10 weeks” certainly interesting. Then a bit of a softener/downplay afterwards when he said “we always train hard” “We are a team that push the boundaries with training” also interesting. -
Great to hear! Fri night has to make him think twice. In terms of showing the gap between us and Freo.
