That's what I keep telling them but they blatantly ignore the facts.
Oh well, we shall see come September who is smiling.
Don't feed the troll would be my advice.

Petty reads the ball flight so well.
Interested to see who goes out for Fritch when fit. can’t be a small, and Melksham is playing some influential footy.Presumably track plays more midfield.

On a happier note, we did get up to beat Essendon on the following Saturday. Robert Walters kicked nine goals.
This fact always astounds me 🤣

I reckon we'll go unbeaten from here and run third. Port away first up which we'll win. We'll best brissy in the prelim and play the maggots in the big dance.
But there's no easy way through. Get every part of our game working at the same time and reasonable run with injuries and ill take anyone, anywhere, anytime.

Maybe the elimination final at Waverley in 89' or Semi Final in 88'
Could be wrong though.
Correct and we won them both. Last time Collingwood beat Melbourne in a final was 1958.

not really. leading into the game they were undoubtedly favourites and in better form.
You didn't say they were in better form though. You said they were the better team.

Sydney had definitely played their GF the prior week, didn’t have anything in the tank!
Seems like they're still knackered from that prelim 😂

I hope everyone who complains about our crowds is a) going and b) going to make a heap of noise!! Even, and especially, when we're struggling!!

Strange, I'd never thought about our premiership as being some kind of rare level of dominance, just as 'our premiership'.
But margins of 33, 83 and 74 are pretty phenomenal when you reflect on it.
Having said that, my search for comparisons was pretty quick, with the Geelong berserker rage event in 2022! They also provided another case way back in 2007 when they obliterated North and Port either side of scraping home over Collingwood. Magpies had a very good run in 2010 except for the draw. Brisbane dominated the qualifying and preliminary finals in 2002, but only got through the grand final by a kick.
So the list of really powerhouse finals campaigns is basically the 2021 Demons, the absurd Bombers of 2000, and Geelong's golden era bookends in 2007 and 2022.
Amazing to think that is the historical company we belong in.
In hindsight we were utterly dominant I'm 2021. Smashed the finals. 8 out of 9 against the rest of the top 5.
Geelong were also very dominant last year, however, they did have a close final against the Pies in week 1. On the other hand, they were even more dominant in their actual GF win.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but the DeeBrief podcast has just done an interview with Aden Yze - I think it’s only on the Premium version. He was pretty candid with his info - some of the key take outs:
- They definitely had a loading period over the past few rounds, with Yze likening it to a mini pre-season. He said they had targeted the consecutive 10 day breaks to put the load into players.
- They are going to play Trac almost exclusively in the forward line, with Brayshaw coming up to midfield. He said that they trust Viney and Brayshaw to lead the midfield. They will also give Kozzie some centre bounces to get his hands on the ball. Apparently Kozzie had been sick after Alice Springs and so had not trained fully up to the Saints game. He was also tagged heavily during last week’s game.
- The aim is to finish Top 4 every year, whilst we have this list. He described it as having a chance to knock on the door and whatever happens after that, happens. He explained that this was a theme that Clarko used at the Hawks. Yze also said that he thinks our finals series of 2021 was unbelievable and doubts whether it will ever be repeated (as in the total dominance of our opponents).
- He also made mention of the fitness and medical team, saying that they are fantastic. He used the example of Salem being able to return to AFL level without having to come back through Casey.
Great Intel. Thanks for posting.

Petracca nailing his hardest shot for the night once the game was killed sums him up.
I may have this wrong but you seem to be suggesting Petracca doesn't bring his best to the big moments. Which would be an odd criticism of a Norm Smith medallist.

Heading down the highway again where I hold a 2-11-1 record in terms of MFC success. What's the definition where you keep doing something and expect a different result?
Highlights include watching us kick 4 goals in an entire game of footy in 2013 in pouring rain, Getting beaten after the siren, getting beaten by 80 points the following year where we all thought we were flag contenders and fare-welling the coach that got us back to AFL relevance with an 111 point belting.
(by some sheer stroke of luck or destiny I pulled out of 186)
Other than that I'm supremely confident.
I reckon I'm 1 and 7. I was there when the wizard wore red boots and didn't get a touch, losing after the siren, getting done by 80 in the rain, and of course our famous win in 2015. I reckon I'll be 2 and 7 by the end of the night.

Trac's tears after that game are my favourite memory of that season apart from the obvious. It showed how much it meant to him and that he was one of us.

I've been there at least half a dozen times in the past years for Dees games. A10 is on the fence at the half forward flank. It's cold at night so rug up but the cheer squad sits here so you're in good company. The angle of seating is low which makes it hard to see the other side of the ground especially if there is someone tall sitting in front of you. But viewing is not "restricted" by any structures as such. I've attached a couple of maps - hopefully they're helpful.

Got seats in A10 at kardinia park. They were 50 bucks compared to most others that were 60 bucks. Does anyone know if that means they are restricted view? It didn't say that but still a tad concerned. Not sure if this is your area @FearTheBeard ??

Max's break out. game was at the Cattery.
Oh and we beat the Cats 3 times at KP in 2021 including the memorable gaol after the siren after being 44 pts down. I know Geelong are scarred by that!
I was the cattery for Max's breakout game!! One of my greatest ever days at the footy! I'm just pointing out the reason geelong mostly beat us down there is because they've been much better than us, not because the ground has some mystical quality. I expect us to win comfortably on thurs.

The reality is that, too many times, we have gone down to Geelong (whether it be favourites or underdogs) and copped some awful floggings and awful umpiring decisions.
And I'm deeply, deeply scarred.
Really? We've basically never been the better team. The only time we were was 2021 and we won.
-
It's hard to move the ball down the ground at Kardinia. Last year we got stuck down their end for large parts of the game. Clearances and centre clearances are crucial.
-
We've done bloody well to get two of these feature games given our size. Hawthorn and Geelong only have one. North have half a one on Good Friday. Dogs and saints don't have any. Pies, dees and blues have 2. Richmond and bombers have 3.

We punch way above our weight with regards to membership, crowd numbers etc etc
There are a few here who think that we should have Collingwood or Richmond type support after winning 1 flag in 6 decades
They are not being realistic as we're 10 years behind and would need to be in contention for 8 of the next 10 years to even go close to catching all the way up
We just don't have that many supporters compared to the big clubs
And we are not sleeping giants either. Our supporter build will take some time (manic, huge support like the big clubs)
That's not to say we don't have good support, we do. Just not in big numbers
I reckon the actual membership numbers cloud the thinking ... right across the board, for all the clubs, probably only about 25% - 35% of members attend games
Many are happy to just plough their money into the club as a way of feeling connected
This is the most sensible post I've seen on crowds. The amount of drivel that gets spoken about our crowds from our fans and outsiders alike is unbelievable.

What They Are Saying at Punt Road

It's weird - you'd think with their recent success they'd be more chilled out about losing.
