It's not as much fun to read the opposition fans' sites now that people are taking us seriously.
Where's all the "who have they beaten?", "Pretenders!" posts gone?
I'm also getting a bit sick of my non-MFC friends saying stuff like "well, if my team doesn't win, I hope you guys get up this year". I want us to be hated.
I had a hawthorn mate carefully explain to me that everyone will be happy for you for the first one, then everyone will hate you.

Will need to get a bit of match fitness in the twos i reckon but once he's fit he's an important part of the midfield. Need to make sure he's right for finals like he was in 2018 after missing a lot of footy during the year.

Some of those comments are pathetic.

Just a form thing. Dropped a couple of ones he probably should've taken but kept going and marked a couple of good ones in the second half. I reckon he's close to having a really good game.

I'm an admirer of Caro. Plenty of grubs around taking advantage of the community's passion for the game - you need someone like Caro covering the political aspect. She's disliked by many because at some point or another she's nailed everyone's team.

Big game tonight. A win means we can return to watching and enjoying every possible footy show during the week
I actually enjoyed the extra spare time this week ?.

The dogs are good but let's not forget they struggled to beat Carlton and lost to Richmond. If we play our best we can win.

Actually I was wrong - sorry Kane! His comments were reasonably measured. I assumed the thread title was what he had said.

Kane Cornes continues to be a twit.

Kicked 5 goals in the last 4 games as well - perhaps becoming a goal kicking midfielder.

Viney won't play.
Salem - 50/50.
If neither play, I can't see us winning, especially at Doglands.

I'd like to second this question.

It ultimately ended in tears, but there were a lot of cracking wins in 2017 including that one in Adelaide.

Why don't you look yourself? You made the outrageous statement without doing any research that 9-0 teams rarely win premierships and recent history shows around 50% win. Further I see little relevance to data from 100 years ago in a very differently structured competition.
? I was going to suggest one provide the evidence for his/her own claim. This article goes back to 1970 and suggests the only other 9-0 team was West Coast in 91 who ended up runners up: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theroar.com.au/2021/04/29/what-does-the-unbeaten-start-from-the-bulldogs-and-demons-mean/amp/
Of course the dees were 9-0 in 56 and went on to win the flag. Anyway, I think I've made my point ?.

Add Hawthorn 08 to the premiers column after being 9-0 and St Kilda 04 and dockers 15 to the "not premiers" column. From what I can tell, since 2000 (inclusive) teams that have been 9-0 have won the flag 50% of the time.

I never said teams who win heaps of games rarely win premierships, I said teams who start strongly like 9-0, rarely win premierships
12 minutes ago, Kozzie4PM said:Sure. I just don't reckon that's true though. What's your threshold for "rare"? What percentage of teams that have gone 9-0 have gone on to win flags?
In the last 20 or so years there's Essendon 00, Geelong 09, Geelong 11 that went 9-0 and won the flag. St Kilda 09 and kangas 16 didn't win the flag after being 9-0. I've probably missed a few but that's already too many successes to be considered "rare".

Yes that's possible. It's also quite possible that we have indeed peaked. Premierships are rarely won with a 9-0 start because those teams runs out of puff come finals time.
Are premierships rarely won by teams with a 9-0 start? I reckon in general there's a relatively strong correlation between winning heaps of games and premierships.

I reckon the hill would be heaps of fun anyway.

Interestingly this sign has anograms for the key components of MFC defence
May, Lever and Salem.
This is real next level stuff.

I envisage a 10 min bonanza like we had against North and Hawthorn but hopefully earlier in the game. This mob have lost their last 5. Wouldn't mind the boys getting a bit of bloodlust up and really belting them.

I expect the centre clearances to be a bit better than last week, the defence to stand up as usual and the forward line to perhaps be a bit clunky with the changes there. Regulation 4-5 goal victory coming up.

That should definitely come next, force them to do that trip down the highway. Watch Jeff crack the sooks then!
(As a little side point I think it’s complete bull that only certain clubs go down there. Richmond, Carlton, Essendon, and the Pies should be copping away matches there as
Agree completely. It's absolute garbage. That said, i do enjoy going down there.

I kind of agree that we're due for a loss. We've been creeping towards a loss that last two games and Carlton are our bogey side. Plus they've been under pressure this week.
Why do you think Carlton are our bogey side? We've beaten them the last 5 times we've played them.

I think all the other teams should be more worried about dropping off than us given they've won fewer games than us.
Danger period lies ahead ...

We'll win the next three by between 18 and 34 - same as always.
And as someone above said - the tough run home is ideal prep for finals.
