This year has a real 2010 vibe about it. Hopefully we don’t do a 2011 next year.. Too many brain fades from “Senior Premiership” players. He kicked a few goals late, but it’s what Fritsch fails to do without the ball that kills us. I’ve never seen a goal hungry fwd like him play on from a mark inside 20m to turn into traffic. Just like he did in the 2023 finals against the pies, he [censored] himself again. We must go after a KF who plays like a man in the off season, who can stand up when needed.

JVR 1 mark and 3 disposals to half time. Melb/Goodwin have successfully ruined this kid by using him as a second ruck.

He definitely doesn’t understand it, or wants to apply pressure in the zone. He is just waiting to cheat out the back of it if we win a turnover.

I watched Fritsch in isolation. For a good chunk of the game. He gets lost in our zone. Stands in no mans land defending absolutely nothing. Applies next no no pressure unless the camera is on him. His opponents show him no respect because he is not punishing them. A ruthless club would move him on and build a forward line around genuine competitors that take their chances and want to be involved in the game.

That logic would hint at Tmac going back, Turner fwd with Jefferson and Laurie holding his spot.

Watching that game last week. It looked like we were trying to play an uncontested game, which if it was to stay fresh for KB is a stupid idea and goes against what Darren Burgess preached. Also after listening to Goodwin speak about Petracca 1 year onwards. I’m now worried Tracc will be over awed by the significance of this game and be distracted. I’d love to see Tracc come out and play with some aggression like he did against Carlton last year when he went Ken (Cameron 04 pre shoulder injury) Bruce.

With Viney not available. I can’t for the life of me see us beating the Pies. If we beat them, this will easily be one of Goodwin’s greatest wins.

Can you ask Jeff what he think’s our ideal starting 4 midfield is? The days of Oliver, Viney & Tracc starting in the middle together are over. Also what he see’s as our second starting mids are? As in when our 2nd ruck is on & our prime movers are resting fwd or on the bench.
