  1. Considering the time of the announcement, and that it's not official yet, just broken by a journo, now outside of business hours, I don't think it's all that unreasonable.

Do you think the club's PR/ social media department should be on call 24 hrs?

We can wait until morning, honestly...

Not in this day and age :) we want it NOW!!!

Plus with 96% of what has been going on around here being complete and utter dribble for 2 weeks solid, some people are gagging for official information, not mindless drivel

  2. Salary floors are coming in now (the NBA have introduced one this season). We had one because Fitzroy was staying alive on 70% of the cap and doing nothing.

As for our squeeze - it is more of a stretch, and Schwab ingenious answer was to frontloading contracts each year rather than over pay. I am yet to hear an argument for a better solution.

The NBA salary cap floor is meaningless. If you don't spend to the cap, it's just divided amongst the players on your roster. It does nothing.

  3. And if GWS wanted a player rather than a pick, would you be willing to trade Tom McDonald? Obviously an exchange of later picks would probably be required to balance things a little.

    Negative

  4. Hi guys,

My wife is going to make blankets for my boys out of old Melbourne scarves for Christmas. She's a very crafty woman. We have 10 already of our own but she needs another 20. Doesn't matter how old or new they are, as long as the condition is good

You can PM and I'll pay for delivery or I'll be at the forum game on Sunday.

    Thanks

  5. I know but I was looking at the compensation we would get; therefore it is relevant

Completely dealing in hypotheticals. Dealing him for pick 35 cannot and will not ever happen so what's the point asking? We get what the AFL tells us we get. But like I said earlier, free agent compensation is a farce. Either have none (my preferred option) or go for the MLB type arrangement that gives the same compensation after a given set of rules has taken place, no matter who it is

  6. Ok, so lets look at them one-by-one:

Would you trade Sylvia for Pick 3? YES

Would you trade Sylvia for Pick 17? YES (assuming our recruiting is now better than when we got Blease with this pick!)

Would you trade Sylvia for Pick 19? YES (assuming our recruiting is now better than when we got Strauss with this pick!)

Would you trade Sylvia for Pick 35? MAYBE? (assuming our recruiting is now better than when we got Bennell with this pick!)
Would you trade Sylvia for Pick 53? NO (mind you, we got McDonald with this pick!)
I'm interested to know, would people trade him for about pick 35?

    He's a free agent, so it's a moot point

  7. Hawthorn are blessed with their recruiting. They picked up Shaun Burgoyne at the end of 2009 when he was 26, going on 27 and his career was in a rut. He's now been an important member of his team for four years but last night, without his efforts, they would have been celebrating Mad Monday on the day after next.

Stuart Dew says hi too! It's more than blessed

  8. I think the Tiges are cleverly maneuvering him out. imo, they've given up on him.

Interesting thought. Give up on a sure fire talent that would walk into nearly every team in the competition and potentially get nothing in return. Can't see that being the case.
