  1. Brereton didn't need to pick apart every move he made. Some of which were reasonable.

How about we pick apart a GWS youngster for an entire game one week Derm you [censored].

In fact not a youngster lets pick Phil Davis who is a millionaire who spuds up everything and is meant to be a leader.

I actually liked listening to it to be honest. Not only did he pick apart the mistakes he gave advise how to rectify it. That's colour commentary and A HELL OF A LOT BETTER that most of them on tv.

Just because it was a Melbourne player people get their backs up. I don't get it.

Even my 8 year old son could understand when we watched the replay this morning

  2. but will other clubs with A graders be willing to part with an A grader for an early pick?

Since the average age of Hawthorn's midfield is about 55 I would have thought that there would have been a market for trading picks for talent from certain clubs

  3. Can you post part b.

Does it not show my argument to be correct?

I understand what you are saying. Part (b) pertains to the actual kick not being in accordance, there was no kick, therefore you take part (a)

another excellent ambiguous law from the AFL

  4. Sorry, I don't follow you. Yes he had prior but he disposed of it properly by hand. And it was under pressure. So what was the free for? Must be a rule you haven't quoted or a bungle by the ump. Give their overall performance, the later sounds more likely.

You have to kick the ball first to restart play from a kick in. That's the rule - hard and fast- no two ways about it.

He never kicked the ball, called to play on, then rushed a behind given prior opportunity to do so. This was EXACTLY why this rule was bought in and was correctly interpreted on this occassion

  5. The rushed behind was IMO an incorrect ruling.

By my understanding of the rules, he didn't tap it on his foot, but handballed. Where he handballed it to is completely irrelevant. The second he handballs rather than touch the foot, means it should be a bounce.

Whoever claimed it was a correct decision in the game day thread, please let us know where I am wrong here??

Ed. ucanchoose it was, so do tell, how was it a correct decision??

    13.2 (a)

After giving a Player a reasonable opportunity, the field Umpire
shall direct a Player to Kick the football back into play. If a
Player fails to Kick the football back into play after being
instructed to do so by a field Umpire, the field Umpire shall
call “Play On”. The Player shall be required to dispose of the
football in accordance with Laws 13.1 (b) and (d). Opposing
Players, however, may enter the Goal Square and tackle the
Player with the football once “Play On” is called. The provisions
of these Laws relating to Free Kicks shall apply.
He never KICKED THE BALL. Then was given fair chance and caught in possession. Clear free kick
The umpire even asked the goal umpire if he kicked it, you can hear that on the TV. You could then use rule 15.7 for a deliberate rushed behind because he clearly had prior
  6. Maybe that failed Tiger and failed umpire coach Gieshen could explain it........if he or anyone else actually knows. :-)))

He needed to kick it to himself to restart play first. This is why the rule was bought in. CORRECT DECISION

  7. I can't contain myself.

Loved the bit in the telecast when Rhys Jones compared him to W Carey.

The question is did we do the right thing by picking him up in the mini draft at the expense of pick 3 and potentially Ollie Wines?

The CEO of GWS was on SEN today and said he was surprised more talent wasn't traded for by victorian clubs. Jaeger O'Meara was up for grabs and nobody wanted to trade for the pick

We did the right thing and it will pay off in big HUGE BUCKETS

  8. Probably the same [censored] who promulgated the one about Howe (who leads the goalkicking with 18.9).

There's a lot of sheep on this forum who'll follow all sorts of unfounded suggestion.

Have you taken a close look at his action? He starts ok, but speeds up erratically, takes off to the right a bit like buddy but his leg swings from right to left like a terrible golf slice. Have a look at his leg follow through, its about a 45 degree angle There is a lot of work to do to make it smooth. There is a good reason he works on the kicking so much at training. It's not good.

    I reckon he's a cracker though...
