  1. Well, we are in very different camps if you do not think we needed to review 2018 v West Coast and if you think a gun key defender, I assume you mean, Lever, was what would rectify West Coast pulling us apart. Fact is two years later, where are we? Your other argument seems to be, keep players who many on here believe should have gone 1-2 years ago for team coehesion.
  2. I go back to the List Managers. Why did they think we were in the Premiership window after the sort of loss we had in the 2018 preliminary. Was it because the game was never reviewed, so the List Manager had no true reference point? As to point three, it has always amused me. An 18 year old grows up with his mates and 2-3 years later the media talks about him having a teamate/best mate a few years later. Players these days do not have the outlets to form best mate relationships to anywhere near the extent previous generations of players did. Instead we have little groups of mates within a team.
  3. It seems our List managers are always a year behind the general sentiment of supporters here and other places. Many of us would have had the Wagners, gone, OMac, ANB on the trade table last year. I know it is complicated but really it is time to get ruthless. I am particularly thinking those who are on average or better contracts but have question marks around their upside.
  4. Interesting benchmark you are setting What does that make Petracca and Oliver worth?
  5. On average and we are talking averages that means say, the six top players in each Club. Over to you, I am going to sit dowm.
  6. And who will forget his words to Michael Tuck at the death before that Buckenara kick in 87. "Good luck but I hope it is us". What a time.
  7. How do you paint a picture to the young ones of the grace of Robbie Flower and what he meant to us on those long ago, cold winters days at the MGG, with a crowd of around 20,000 and defeat a near certainty. To watch R Flower as the Bromlow announcers called him, rise for a mark or gather the ball and then dance a merry one around superior teams, but not superior individual players was something I will never forget. A few days ago a friend was talking Gary Dempsey, like Flower he was always at his best in State games and we were proud to show him off. What a player. I have never been as certain of a players ability with ball in hand as I was when Robbie went to work.
  8. It is almost a case of, in for a penny, in for a pound with Smith. Surely there is only upside. Great news on Sparrow and Petty. Also happy to have a trimmer TMac back. It would have been painful for him to go just yet. Trim down get fit, lead up, put the ball near Kozzie Trac and co.
  9. I would not have a bar of paying him double the average wage. Good AFL playe Jack has been overated for his all round football ability from before he even arrived at the Dees. Would he get a game with Port?
  10. What once was part of a footballers basic arsenal. Even at suburban level if you played footy you prided yourself on being an elite pass, well in circle work anyway. In truth the average suburban footballer likely spent more time on his kicking than the modern AFL player.
  11. I find myself agreeing with you a lot lately AF. levers next contract should reflect him being a good AFL backman at market rate. i also think he would be appreciated more. Anyone paid more than market rate in any industry ultimately feels the heat and in this case wrath of supporters. Jack is a beauty but not a Star.
  12. Agree and I dont think Geelong really want him, less so after tonight. Vineys style is not what they need. I didnt warch but sounds Port have flair as well as pressure.
  13. He was coming back from a year out of the game. Brings others into the game.
  14. Petty looked a natural forward who could hold his ground in those few games 2018. Could surprise many. Sparrow should make it if he does everything right. Great news,
  15. Take him in a heartbeat. Lewis was massively unper appreciated by some here.
  16. I thought we should have gone for him when he left the Pies, not now.
  17. I would take that. he is one of those players it is always tempting to play but he is not the future or premiership material. Mind you if I was him I would be looking for midfield minutes
  18. Funny times, if your assessment is correct then I would not trade unless it is a Sydney Club and a second rounder or player swap. I am ready to be howled down and I love what Max brings as a player and a person but it is almost a shame now days to have your best player a ruckman. if you had say a forward of maxs standing and a preuss type in the ruck, would it be better?
  19. I think he was agood pick up. Lot of ifs but had we played better, made finals and Max was inhured he was good insurance.
  20. Jack stays at around $600,000 with a clear understanding midfield minutes are gold and reputations mean nothing from here on in. Need to get more creative and be a link player. If someone is prepared to pay significantly more than, say $600,000 good luck for Jack and family.
  21. I wesh him all the best. also wish goody had used him to soften up oppossing rucks and then let Max dominate. he has limitations as a first ruck but time will tell.
  22. If anywhere near correct I do not see how that is justified.
  23. Just when I was leaning toward him staying i see another publication saying he is an $700-$800 a year player, please...
