Good first quarter geez it shows how competitive we can be with a decent midfield. Defence is on top forwards look ok minus Hogan Dawes and Clark and yet we won the quarter despite being molested in the midfield. Sure there are some players today who should never play afl level again but there is something to work with if we can get a decent midfield.

Yeah exactly no harm in a phone call. I probably wouldn't make the call until after we name a coach and get a new sponsor though but worth a call.

Possible trade with GC Suns Watts/Sylvia for Trent McKenzie ? Beautiful kick of the football from half back which is what we need. Suns have a dearth of talent ripe for the picking and either Watts or Sylvia and package up a draft pick aswell may be enough to get the deal done. Victorian boy too.

Another one is Luke Shuey another Melbourne boy who we could use in our midfield. Maybe even Andrew Gaff. If Worsfold goes as expected then we could really get into one or two of their ears and especially if we get Roos we may have a chance to snare one or 2 of them

That would be a good trade but no way would they take pick 20. Watts has very little currency due to his years of indifferent form.

Im not saying he has been a good pick up I am just saying that Prismall is looking very good this season and appears to be over his injuries. Comparing him to Rodan is silly as Rodan is 2 1/2 years older than Prismall.

Lets delist Rodan and pick up Prismall.

Swallow is from WA and if he is going anywhere it would be to North. Unless he wants to go to WCE or Freo. I personally hope we don't trade pick 2 we do need it on a quality mid from the draft who actually has the body ready for AFL. Trades can be from players and late first round/early second round picks.

Look we all know we need quality mids to compliment Toumpas Viney Nathan Jones and the like. There have been a lot of names thrown up but there are only one or two that are top class that we can go for and they are unlikely.

It's my opinion that we should look to mature age state recruits with decent skills unlike Magner who I rate but just doesn't do enough with the ball.

I watched the Williamstown V Northern Blues game today and a player that is a solid build and actually used the ball well was Brent Prismall.

I know he has been delisted but his knee problems seem to be behind him and he actually uses the ball very well.

Just a suggestion obviously but I would like to know some other decent mature players that anyone can think of (outside the afl) who could come onto our list and help us immediately. Ala Sam Dwyer from Collingwood

I have a theory as to why we get smashed at stoppages and clearances ... apart from our mids being nowhere near good enough .. watch most of the stoppages here even in our forward line our players are looking/holding onto their players and running with them instead of being on the move ready to receive the ball .. far too reactive which means that most of the time out backs are to the ball and they have a free run, which would also explain most of the spread directly from stoppages

To some degree could be fitness .. apparently this year is the only pre season we have done which has benefited fitness wise but 90% of it is hunger for the contest .. hunger to improve and hunger to succeed which only about 5 players have at present. Honestly Garland N.Jones Viney Terlich and Frawley out there are the only ones who even look like they want to play for the club.
