  1. It doesn't have to. Just put a limit on how many players can be drafted from a combined F/S-Academy school, per club, per season. I like the system concept, but it needs refinement. IF the draft age gets lifted to 19Yrs of age, I think Academies will become even more important. And I'd suggest that players in Academies, should be eligible for drafting from 18Yrs of age, to play senior footy, if they're ready.
  2. Plenty of teams have got there without balls. (too nice as pie) But few have won the day.
  3. It wasn't the coaches who first wanted injury subs. It was many of us supporters initially, before the idea caught on. And then they didn't want it. And Malthouse wanted 6 interchange. 2 will do, with 2 subs. And rotations pegged right back. Stufff the rotations, they are stufffing our game.
  4. Yes most of that is true, But... Teams love it when they play Melbourne. Why.? IMO, because we play 'nice'. Front runners (our lack of defencive pressure), and bruise free is too often the way. When we've had it on a platter we fire up. When the tough stuff was about, we'd get sheepish and distracted. I think this nature is a reflection of the majority of our support base, and so the players reflect this in there playing style. They are wildly applauded for playing clean heels footy. But our hard dirty work is met with subtle quiet praise. Or sometimes condemnation by the unease of our support base. Other clubs roar approval for their players when they do some heavy work. And those opposition players reflect that approval in their style. How many coaches recently have said they would make us Melbourne, a hard team to play against...? Because they know of our reputation as a club. And why we always have to re-earn the respect, after having lost it once again. These are our 'spots', Pre Checker and post Smithy, and Pre Barassi and post Northey. We should never ever go back to playing like 'Fuscias', again.
  5. Really.? 2 on the bench, and a cap of no more than 12 rotations per Qtr. That'll slow them down, especially if there is more physicality in the game, where the players are constantly being hit/bumped, and corked all game. At every contest. The AFL keep on whimping out. I remember we/AFL brought the interchange back to 3 players and a Sub..... the coaches (Roos) immediately complained, and the AFL reneged on the idea. Wrong move yet again. STOP listening to the coaches and players, AFL... as the main stakeholders of this game are the patrons, the supporters, in the outer.
  6. It's difficult to fly the flag stiffly, when no one else does that.that whole team lacked starch across the 20 players. About half a dozen players had the 'balls' to back themselves up in that list. No where near enough starch, for a Flag tilt. Typical Melbourne, post Smith era. Checker and Smith teams would not allow oppositions to run all over them Physically. We are too nice as a club. to a fault.
  7. Melbourne doesn't like to play finals type footy, which is very aggressive footy. The Bombers came to play, and came to Win. And they brought their 'A' game with them, on the day. AGGRESSION. No on can blame them for giving everything they had, to win the game. And they did.
  8. Don't have a fire Dr, will you.?
  9. Interchange bench. = 4 Take 2 off.. multiplied by18 = (36), when I was at school, way back. Thats almost one full list.
  10. Stephen Febey, all day long. A man who could be a player in a winning Premiership team. Had all the necessary attributes.
  11. Power recruiting by past Demons Admins, right there.. geez we know footy at Melbournefc.
  12. The key to this is to pay the first 22 players less of the money pool, allowing enough for bigger lists. The AFL wanting the Big salaries to entice young players to AFL, has done this. Pay em less and bring back the reserves and U-19's. Let the VFA go back to where it was, and allow it to re-establish in the communities. The whole Key is, LESS greed.!
  13. I have to go for leadership. Todd Viney was a dynamo and real leader of team energy. Just edging out 'AJ'. Todd Viney for me.
  14. He's right... the worst thing for footy over the long-term, has been the AFL taking over the VFL. Its time to set the VFL free. Let market forces dictate the VFL's future. I think the future would be bright.
  15. The number of rotations has had a huge effect on this position IMO. Too many by far. depleting space to run and carry. The reductions has helped a little, but not enough to get back to those one-on-one battles, out in open space. We end with a pack, and stacks on.
  16. A fit Stinga, would walk into any team of today's footy, and name his price.
  17. It comes down to professionalism and team first players.? IF you were trying to build a side to win the flag, you'd have to go with the team first star over the 'I'm-here' type star. Jako was just a little too much like, well, Jacko. And Capper. Take that leg wound away from Stinga, and he would be a legend. Certainly a match winner.
  18. Is he back yet.? Roman Brian could have a different slant to it.? It might be him in the stands, chasing the pigeons and seagulls. ?
  19. Time for the FED Government to step up. We need two major airlines, or we have to nationalise Qantas. Either way.
  20. I'd go even further for 2020, and only allow 2 rounds to be taken in a draft year, where list numbers might be reduced. 3 draftees might be too many, in a reduced List size.
  21. little. - - - - - - - - I'm feel they China, have sinister means, desires. I sense they are not to be trusted. They do not trust their peoples, and do not allow the people freedom to choose their ways of life.
