  1. I’m wide awake Billy You seem to be unfamiliar with some of the basics of trading. The idea is to exchange items of equal value. The objective is to achieve a win win scenario whereby clubs exchange players which fill a need and improve their list overall. I think Harmes can be very effective in a defensive mid role and is worthy of a spot in the best 22. Brayshaw is worthy as well, has talent no doubt but has been inconsistent. If the club has to trade to fill a need then I think trading Brayshaw for a winger or KFF would deliver a greater overall result than trading Harmes. Hence my post. For future reference I’d prefer if you respond with an argument why you think trading Brayshaw is a bad idea. Or with an argument why Harmes should or shouldn’t be trade rather than a pot-shot. I’m happy to hear your thoughts.
  2. look to bring in josh kelly or Zack Merrett with the oliver picks
  3. His best position is defensive mid so play him there. Maybe he can replace Melksham but I’m not a big fan of trying to repurpose players. Just play to his strengths. If someone gets squeezed out then my preference is Brayshaw. Nothing against Angus just think he has greater currency which can deliver a better player in a trade than Harmes can.
  4. His real estate contacts might come in handy for our HQ project ?
  5. I wasn’t trying to be insulting. Have a nice day HFF.
  6. Memo to self, must remember to refer to public rather than taxpayer ?
  7. If you mean as long as they are making money who cares, then that’s a valid point and many people would agree with you. For me giving Cartier watches to already well remunerated execs is just greed and avarice. I don’t like it. I’d much prefer the posties were given a little extra in their pay packet.
  8. I see the head of ASIC has now had to step aside while his expenses are investigated. Not sure what prompted all this but if I was on the board of a taxpayer funded body or regulator I would be nervously checking my all expense claims right now.
  9. Eddie can’t help himself but I guess he’s just defending one of his own. Politics is a truly sh**ty business as Holgate is now finding out. A few watches is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I’m a capitalist. It’s the best way we know to encourage innovation and create wealth. But jeez I hate the greed that goes along with it. Any sympathy I have for Holgate dissipates pretty quickly when I see the eye-watering remuneration package she’s on. She’s a greedy elitist like all the rest of that circle of execs who rotate amongst all the top jobs. She’ll pitch up at another top job for sure. She’s be ok.
  10. I guess I’m glass half full and you’re glass half empty.
  11. Hopefully the Vic government will be as charitable towards us when we're fund raising for our MCG precinct HQ project.
  12. I don’t like the idea they’ll be stronger either dm but good clubs always find a way unfortunately. They’ve defied gravity for a while and have a lot of aging players. I’m hoping they come back down to earth with a bang sooner rather than later. Let’s focus on ourselves. Get some players and coaches in this off=season and go hard in 2021.
  13. Future 2nd for Brown perhaps or Preuss and future 1st or 2nd for pick 9.
  14. Been mentioned here elsewhere. Preuss and pick 23 for GWS pick 9
  15. Moving TMac on without having to pay any of his wages next year would be an unbelievable outcome. Asking for something in return would be really pushing our luck.
  16. Very harsh. They recruit well, develop their players and are well coached. Arrogant/dislikeable - yes Cheats - no
  17. It’s impossible to ensure equality of outcome. No matter how much you attempt to equalise the better operators will always rise to the top. Too much engineering just dis-incentivises the good teams for being well run. That road leads to lada’s. I think your suggestions penalise successful teams too much. I'd leave the system as is. There is no reason why the MFC can’t be successful within the current framework. We carry the name of the city we hail from, play at the G, have a large latent following (see crowd numbers at the 2018 finals games) and for the time being at least are financially secure. We have talented top end players. A good trade period to address needs and we’re in the reckoning for Top 4. It’s not that long ago that Richmond were a rabble. There’s hope for us.
  18. I think he definitely wants to see the direction the club is going. I don’t blame him. No finals next year and I think he walks. Massive year ahead for the club.
  19. It’s trade period. Its currency is rumor and gossip. Fact of life. The club or his management start makings comments will just fuel the fire. Best way to put this to bed is to announce he has signed a new deal. Kills the story stone dead.
  20. To challenge there has to be a groundswell for change. Enough for a group of members to band together, and come up with a workable alternative board. Think opposition political parties. We are financially sound. Money in the bank. No AFL line of credit. Sponsors have signed on again for next year. Massive tick. Cannot overstate how important it is to be solvent during Covid. Look at Norf as a reference point and count your blessings. Not enough movement regarding the new HQ but I’m prepared to give more time considering the current environment. If a site hasn’t been selected and approval obtained within the next 18-24 months I’ll be asking questions. Changes are afoot in the footy dept. Yze is a great addition. Hopefully one other capable assistant is secured. We seem to be targeting the right players (brown and Smith) and looking to offload underperformers (Tmac). A good trade period and I think we’re right in the mix for Top 4. The board are going ok. Now is not the time for talk of takeovers or elections. Goodwin and Mahoney is where the focus should be imv.
  21. I thought he was made redundant. if so, should be getable.
  22. They have natural advantages but have been very smart recruiters and have obviously planned long term. Wells is a great operator. How many teams have 2 high performing category B rookies running around for them? The only big trade in was danger. And he’s a former falcon so can’t say it was for the money. And they traded out Kelly for 2 first round picks who cost them nothing. I hate them but begrudgingly admire them at the same time.
  23. Agree. No question we should have someone with a deep knowledge of football on the board to keep Mahoney and the FD honest. My concern is whether he has the skills for the job. It’s an important role requiring a high degree of footy smarts. Passion and connection to the club aren’t enough.
  24. all for former players as long as they have the chops for the job. I haven't seen anything to suggest Green has the credentials but will be delighted to be proven wrong.
  25. I’d like to see the position description and required skillset as well. What we don’t need is a Mark Ricciuto type shooting his mouth off at every opportunity and talking out of school. I hope he brings the same knowledge and acumen that Jason Dunstall brought to the role at the hawks. Can’t say I’m optimistic though. Nothing about his public utterances suggests to me he has the depth of knowledge or competence to challenge the strategy/direction of the footy department which I would have thought the role is all about. Fantastic servant of the club so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
