The great German footballer Franz Beckenbauer, nickname ‘Der Kaiser’ (translated as the emperor) is recognised as the creator of the sweeper role (also known as the 'libero'). The sweeper is a defensive player who sits behind the defensive line, sweeping up and dealing with any balls played through the defensive line. I think the ducks are lining up for Steven Smith to take over when he returns from his extended break overseas. I reckon he'll be in situ by rd one next year Very interested to see how the review rates the CEO's performance. I don't think Kate Roffey should be the only one to fall on their sword.
