Comparing to JVR again who is a different beast for his age.

it’s Jefferson’s first year, so stupid to keep comparing a rare talent, to one who needs some time. But again, enjoy writing 18 year olds off, it’s a great look😂

I trust me eyes, which has nothing to do with Taylor, or his record.

His eyes are paid to pick players, and built this Melbourne list form scratch😂😂😂

Mate - dunno if you watched the D's last night but the ball movement and delivery into the forward line was disposable plastic rather than silver...if BBB needs to rely upon above par delivery to be effective - well it probably ain't gonna happen.

I did watch, and it’s a coaching issue no doubt but also, Carlton made that game very ugly and didn’t help what we did at all. They flooded the backline at all costs to stop score, which created no space. Not all teams do that, bottom 4 teams do, which Carlton are just that.

Mine aren't.  I'm realistic about developing young talls.

His complete lack of intensity is a concern.  In the third quarter there was a 50/50 high bouncing ball that he rightly tried to tap forward to advantage.  He failed because he skirted body contact.  That's just one instance, but it sums up where he's at.

He can take a lovely mark and they'll give him plenty of time, but his physicality, or lack thereof, has me doubting he'll ever be a quality AFL key forward.

When the facts change my opinion will too.

After this long, I thought people would trust Jason Taylor by now, who this guy he was huge on. I guess not.

I can’t wait for him to prove many wrong, because I have no doubt he will.

It’s how he’s moving that concerns me most. He makes Gawn look fast. Darcy Moore would run off him like a gleeful kid from his grandma.

You talk structure like Brown will add to that, care to explain? JVR did just fine on Weitering by the way

Our forward structure was Brown-Tmac, Fritta and Gawn/Jackson in our Premiership year. Our defence was Petty May Lever.

It never needed to be changed other than personnel. 2 key defenders and the interceptor. And 2 key forwards and medium tall with a resting ruckman.

Brown standing in the square alleviates so much pressure from Roo purely by the defender he takes. Fritsch gets a third tall who he can play off if Brown is there. I struggle to understand why people can’t see it to be honest.

Brown doesn’t need to work up the ground, in fact he doesn’t need to leave 50. That is now, and evidently Roo’s job.  If he gets it kicked at him, if he’s in front, he marks it, or he gets a free kick. Time and time again we have failed to live up to what he needs with direct kicking to him on a lead.

He’s not a bomb on head forward and I cannot believe or ever fathom how the coaches can’t see this. If he puts his arms in front, it’s an arm chop or a defender falls into his back.

we should be playing someone on Darcy Moore, unpopular opinion I’m sure, but that should be Jake Melksham.

Poor player management. If Smith can’t lock away a spot after 3-4 weeks then Schache deserves 3-4 weeks.

Weitering was playing on Roo last night. That said it all. Brown is needed for structure. No club or player is nervous about Schache, they never have been, and likely never will be. Browns first two games showed he’s worth persisting with. Again, he will never go well at VFL with the standard of delivery, umpiring and flow of the game. It’s very obvious isn’t it?

Jefferson is going to need to lift...a lot.

Are your standards based on JVR? Because if they are, have a reality check.

In the context of big forwards, Roo is a massive anomaly in that not many come in and have an impact straight away and Jefferson isn’t ready. Not many big forwards are expected to be, but so many on this page especially think he’s going to dominate games like Roo did last year when it’s just not realistic at all, not to mention them being very different players also.

  9. Brown started the season with 8 goals in two matches and the club admitted he shouldn’t have lined up against Sydney with his back injury.

Will never look great at VFL level with sub par ball movement and delivery.

His inclusion into the side will help Roo and Fritta tenfold. I very much hope he’s back in soon and from listening to an interview from Richo last night, he’s not far away.

sestan's body shape reminds me of the likes of brian wilson or peter daicos - it'll be interesting to see how it changes after a few pre-seasons

can definitely see him as a jamie elliott type

i suppose fitness will depend on how he can eventually move thru the midfield

    He’s taller than Trac😂

Woewodin looking good but the commentator will not shut up about him.

Turner looks a cut above; once he is AFL size he is our next tall defender.

From previous games, I like young Jefferson but it will be tough for him to show his wares with so many other Dees listed players in the Casey forward line. One to watch.

We are getting soundly beaten at stoppage and ground ball.

Jeffo has already looked much better today because Tmac Melksham and Smith aren’t there. Long may it continue

Is the man mountain ruck they had last year playing for Southport this year?

Could be a decent game especially for the Fringe 6

Brayden Crossley is his name. Used to play for Gold Coast and got sacked with a 12 month ban from footy for testing positive to cocaine in his system after a NEAFL match in 2019.

  13. Jefferson already looks so much better without a clunky forward line of bigs.

Is never going to look great when we have Brown, Tmac, Smith, Schache and Melksham in there as well as him.

looks a much better mix for him to develop without all those guys taking up space.

BB was playing well before he was injured. TMac hasn’t looked played well in a long time (I don’t count the game against the hapless eagles).

We badly need to add a KPF to our list in the off-season

Tmac hasn’t looked very good since about halfway through 2021. Can’t believe Brown has been frozen out since his first couple of games this year. Very weird. He’ll never play that well at Casey. Needs that silver service, and not often Div 2 footy will provide that.

Draft camp he was top 5 speed over 20 metres, IIRC. I also remember that surprising the draft watchers. A bit like Tom Sparrow. Most assume he isn’t quick by the ‘look’ of his running. He’s top 5 at the club.

A bit like Tom Sparrow? Very interesting take. Hard at the footy yes, but don’t think they’re very similar. Sparrow is crash and bash, Taj more breaks lines in and out of traffic.

Just been told Taj Woewodin will debut this week. Unbelievable moment for the club and his family. Our first father son since Billy Stretch IIRC? And our first son of a Melbourne Brownlow medallist to play for the club.

    Big.
