Just watched the presser. Interesting to hear Goodwin sound more open to the possibility of bringing in another fwd (noted change in stance from a week ago when he seemed adamant current setup would be persisted with.  He identified Brown in particular, then mentioned Wied form "improving". 

Also Harley Bennell confirmed as part of the hubbing squad.

Did I just hear BT proclaim "And the crowd roars!" following a Carlton goal? It's artificial crowd noise in an empty stadium.

I read that as a negotiating ploy to secure the outcome of a lesser sentence for Pickett - particularly as with Spargo not in selection plans anyway and was still allowed to play in the practice matches, his suspension was rather virtual.

Just watched the Goodwin post-match press conference. We was asked about the possibility of another tall (e.g. Wied or Brown) up forward and he was adamant the current mix was to be persevered with. Hard to fathom based on today's performance.

Someone interviewed on Inside Melbourne (perhaps Richo) said Smith as a defender was due to it apparently being easier on his body.

The selections were terrible. ANB's late inclusion saved us along with Hunt who I thought would never play seniors again.Where was our forward line.

Weid deserved a game in front of Jackson. Smith is experimental at best.

The only upside is that when I saw the team on Thursday I felt sure we would lose.

On today's showing there are three teams worse than Carlton.  Imagine what this would have turned into if Carlton turned up in the first 1.5 quarters.

To sum up the shambles, the team belts the song out with gusto before skipper Max is even back in the rooms - first win as Captain.
