    Completely agree.

If given the choice to delist, there are 6-7 players who I would delist ahead of Jones at season's end. Jones can cover multiple roles, and he still brings experience and leadership. I rather him play HB in a final than say Lockhart.

We are so quick to forget the sacrifices this guy made in his career for this club. He deserves to get to 300 games, and more than that, I think our club would benefit from us making it happen for him. It shows loyalty and appreciation for those who gave so much to the club for such a long period of time.

Sometimes having a winning culture isn't just about winning games.

Being retained on the list is one thing - being best 22 is another; debates about the former sadly don't augur well for the latter. I'm finding it increasingly hard to see him getting those remaining games with the Rivers's, Jordons, ANBs, Sparrows, Bedford's, etc. also in the mix.

If on-field recognition of his titanic service via selection/farewell game to our club over his career isn't viable I'd certainly hope that some other befitting acknowledgement and a graceful ending can be mustered. We have plenty of "what-not-to-do"s in that regard in our recent history.

  2. Medical due diligence will magically show that all his groin issues are behind him just prior to trade period, we will sell the farm to secure him on a lengthy contract, only to have the injury reappear and he never pulls on the guernsey.

  3. Just watched the presser. Interesting to hear Goodwin sound more open to the possibility of bringing in another fwd (noted change in stance from a week ago when he seemed adamant current setup would be persisted with.  He identified Brown in particular, then mentioned Wied form "improving".

Also Harley Bennell confirmed as part of the hubbing squad.

Can't believe we asked for a higher penalty.  Go figure.   Manoney and co need to take a leaf from Eddie's negotiating book.

I read that as a negotiating ploy to secure the outcome of a lesser sentence for Pickett - particularly as with Spargo not in selection plans anyway and was still allowed to play in the practice matches, his suspension was rather virtual.

In: one of the 3 tall forwards currently fit

Just watched the Goodwin post-match press conference. We was asked about the possibility of another tall (e.g. Wied or Brown) up forward and he was adamant the current mix was to be persevered with. Hard to fathom based on today's performance.

Cocky little turd this one.  It wasn't so long ago that Geelong were in a similar position.

Watch how quickly this forum will be eye rolling at Carlton's flag-less quarter century should we pinch one before they do!

As for the Cats - get your flag count into double figures, then come back to us.

communist is wrong in this picture. there should be one single straw for communist. for the state.

That 3 straw image should read socialist, surely.

While we're at it, the Physicist one is wrong too. It should read gas and liquid. Fluid refers to gases and liquids.

T mac out, Joel Smith to the forward line

Remember Smith kicked 4 goals in the last preseason game last year  before getting injured and being left on the field to play and then missing all the season

    Smith is a forward!

Someone interviewed on Inside Melbourne (perhaps Richo) said Smith as a defender was due to it apparently being easier on his body.
