  1. You know what, f#@k it. Get him. We finished 17th and haven't won a flag for 55 years.

Same wavelength mate. Reckon you're spot on.

Second half of our year was all about trying to find stability and be a bit more measured, so to me it seems the writing is on the wall about next year's game plan given Frost is on the outer and (IMO) replaced by Tomlinson. Our back half had no trust in each other this year, I'm not blaming Frost for that of course, but his style of play doesn't lend itself to predictability. Sorry to lose him, always had a soft spot for him and loved his good bits, but I can understand the decision if things pan out similar to what's mentioned above.
  4. Technically, if he hasn't had his exit interview yet then he may not have been shown the door at this stage.
  5. Weird that his own Mum would come out after the Grand Final saying that was his last game for GWS then. Reckon Tommo is just saying what he thinks are the right things IMO.
  6. Rawlings has been spoken about for a few years as one of the assistants likely to score a head coach job at some stage, so I'm not really sure why it would be a surprise. Just because it's the first time you've heard, doesn't mean it's wrong.
  7. Assistant coaches can walk from contracts if it's for a promotion.
  8. There's other senior jobs out there that his name may still be attached to...
  9. Fairly sure it's all explained in the post mate. If not, keep reading through the thread.
  10. You mean Jack "Goody's boy, handpicked to be co-captain, teacher's pet according to the players, Dad works here" Viney? Yeah, dunno mate...
  11. I would think one of his best mates would understand the situation better than you, so perhaps best to not make assumptions.
  12. Round 12, 2020 might be a bit soon for him...
  13. Interesting that you've made comments in the past about people honoring their contracts yet this is your stance on them this time apparently. Assistant coaches can't leave under contract unless it's for a significant promotion, so given he's already strategy coach for the Hawks and that's the role we wanted him for then he can't break contract. Plus, why would you do your career the disservice of moving your apprenticeship from Clarkson to Goodwin.
  14. Not sure. That was the only whisper I'd heard about incoming assistants at this stage.

I want to believe you, but you've also said Matera, Sokol, Tomlinson & Langdon are all done deals to the Dees as well as Elliot. Seems a bit hard to believe we can do all that. But I hope I'm wrong.
  16. Don't know, but gut feel is no. Sounds like the Hawks really value him and the next time he leaves them (if he does) it will be to be a senior coach.
  17. Not happening now. He was keen. Hawks upped the ante, convinced him that his future was with them and that they expect him to honour the second year of his contract. Would have been a perfect get for our current needs. He's apparently pretty shattered he wasn't able to make it happen.

  19. STMJ: 'Judge him on one game' Also STMJ: 'Don't judge him on one game' Ok then.
  20. 1 game = "body of work" in your books. That's fine. Tells me enough about how much to value your opinion on this.
  21. He gives us a winger, a swingman and a backup ruck, which if you paid attention this year is sorely lacking. Doesn't cost us a pick or a player. Important given our list spots vs draft picks situation. Is a noted professional and great trainer. Improves our depth, which if you paid attention this year is sorely lacking. Has barely missed a game for years through injury, which if you paid attention this year is very important. I'm not sure what else you want from a free agent willing to go to the 17th placed team? You seem to demand improvement but not really understand how that actually looks.
  22. Did you even read my post mate? Read it again.
  23. Fair enough, we're all going to see things differently. You can take your view from the 1 game he was dropped, I'm taking mine from the 80+ where he wasn't. Don't think anyone has said they're expecting a superstar.
  24. Sure, but I don't make my judgments on a couple of games. Last year he had 21 disposals (15 kicks) and 7 marks in an elimination final. The year before he had 26 disposals, 7 marks and 5 tackles in a prelim against the eventual premiers. Worth looking deeper sometimes.
