TRAINING: Monday 4th November 2019
Not 100% certain, but from what I can tell the approximate scenario is: Weid had hip surgery right near the end of the season. Back early December. TMac knee surgery in July (?), so hopefully ok for full training when it starts (although he and Viney might have adjusted workloads for their continuing foot problems). Jetta had minor knee surgery near the end too, more of a clean up I think so hopefully ok for start of preseason. Fairly sure all other surgeries were done well before the end of the season. Joel Smith in rehab still, but on light training already. I think vandenBerg is similar, as is KK. Don't quote me on those, but that seems to be what I can remember seeing.

Meet High Performance Manager Darren Burgess
From what I can tell given the language used in all the articles about him it; it seems he's only currently signed for 1 year? Does anyone know if that's the case? I understand he's in-demand and may field offers end of next season, but will be frustrating if we're looking for another new guy after 1 season.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Yep, fair play. Doesn't change my experience and what I've heard myself though.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
From my limited experience with AFL players, they don't know or care about their team mates remuneration, only their performance and how they fit in. Have also heard countless interviews with players where they say none of them talk about their contract details. But sure, you can choose to believe that a poster on the internet (who has already complained about Tomlinson's contract details, which they have no actual knowledge of), had a player complain, in a public place; to someone they've never met before, about something they wouldn't know about.

Somehow I don't think it was this mystery "senior player" who had the problem with the contract...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Yep, it gets a bit confusing hey? Posted this the other day as a full run down. ps - Does anyone know how the 3 pick rule has changed since we don't have to use a pick to upgrade rookies? LIST REQUIREMENT 38 - 40 senior listed players 4 - 6 rookies Up to 3 cat B rookies Maximum total list size of 47 players OUT Sam Frost (trd) Jeff Garlett (del) Declan Keilty (del) Jay Kennedy Harris (del) Jordan Lewis (ret) Corey Maynard (ret) Tim Smith (ret) Billy Stretch (del) Guy Walker (ret) TOTAL = 9 IN Adam Tomlinson (fa) Ed Langdon (trd) TOTAL = 2 DRAFT(S) Pick 3 Pick 8 Pick 97 PSD Pick 2 Relative rookie draft picks. Delisted free agents also a possibility SUMMARY - CURRENTLY 35 Senior Listed Players 4 Rookies 1 Cat B Rookie TOTAL = 40 Meaning we will be adding between 3-5 senior players, with rookie numbers depending on that final number.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Yep, could potentially even be 38 + 6. We currently have 35 senior players and 4 rookies, so given our draft situation it could very well be a senior list of 38.
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
We can still sign more rookies if we wish I'm pretty sure, so we don't need to upgrade a rookie to add another one.
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Not necessarily. With the way the list numbers work now (long story short) we can add anywhere from 3-5 senior players to our list as it currently stands.

He only had the final one a month ago. Would assume they've got the medical scans of the difference post-surgery, but being that recent I guess the rehab hasn't got to the point of running just yet.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Delisted by the Bombers today. Feels like we're 1 mature tall short on our list atm, but not sure if this bloke is the answer. Just putting it out there for discussion. Bombers make one more list change with versatile tall cut

I'd actually be pretty rapt with your scenario too btw. Be interesting to see what happens with Bennell, gut feel is that due to the amount of interest he will get a senior list spot somewhere rather than a rookie spot.- Sam Gray
Not sure that's 100% accurate. From what I can gather, this is the list situation: AFL LIST SIZE 38 - 40 senior listed players 4 - 6 rookies Up to 3 cat B rookies Maximum total list size of 47 players CURRENT DEES LIST 35 Senior Listed Players 4 Rookies 1 Cat B Rookie TOTAL = 40 This means we will be adding between 3-5 senior players, with rookie numbers depending on that final number. Still means we'd likely be looking at delisted free agents or the PSD, but if my information is correct, it means 5 is the absolute maximum we can add to our list as far as senior players go.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Sounds fantastic, let's hope only 3 other teams are aiming for top 4 as well then!- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Rumour only, and not from someone I know very well, but has been said that we started talking to him in July.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Technical question for anyone that happens to know, but I seem to remember Burgess was listed as starting in November. I know he's already done some things like giving out programs for the players on break, but is he on hand to oversee the Bennell physical?- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON

Officially delisted by the Pies today.- Neville Jettas Protege
Hore, Chandler, Lockhart and Corey Wagner would be my current options to try. Actually think Corey could do it well. Has fantastic effort, intensity and pressure, along with the willingness to be physical. Reminds me a lot of Nev when he made the switch in positions too.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Fair enough mate, can definitely see what you're saying there. I wasn't sure at first for the same reasons and have probably just been swayed given our current lack of tall depth.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Was named AA this year, so not sure I agree he will never be a dominant ruckman. BTW he's 199cm and at 18 could quite possibly still grow a little, if that's a big concern. I agree about not using pick 3, but pick 8 shapes as a big chance IMO. Just strikes me as a bit of a bolter who is on a quick track of improvement, bit like Oliver in his draft year.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
I still have hope for Weids. Think he has some good attributes and works hard. Needs a mixture of luck (mostly with injury), confidence and better delivery and he'll start to turn the corner IMO. Was always seen as a longer term prospect. Preuss is just backup. We needed that, and we lost a player who was not worth a lot to us to get him, so a sensible decision IMO.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
“Maybe they see the value of a really great ruckman and he probably starts his career as a forward,” Twomey said. “I spoke to a recruiter last week who said he goes in as a forward and would be a better player than Sam Weideman straight away.” The surprising player in the mix for the Demons at pick three - Sam Gray
