100% the ball movement was an evolution to counteract the defensive zone and modern flooding we implement. Slow and predictable was just never working for oppositions and we would just murder teams that played this way. We could see this taking shape even in 2021 with close games against Hawks, Loss to Adelaide / Collingwood. Teams just needed a preseason to perfect it and identify the talent who would execute it. But to win it next year we’ll need to go 1 better - who knows what that is but our skills, fitness and pressure are non negotiable. Without this any game plan is likely to fail against the top teams.

I really like Chandlers game. He is exactly what we need in the HF next year. Love his chase, pace and work ethic. Not the best decision maker - granted - but we need to play him more to rest others throughout the season.

The fact we are chasing Gunston is probably a result of this. Incredibly poor decision making from the football dept. Reeks of desperation.

I think it’s a culmination of things. Injuries, being hunted, game plan were all contributing factors. There is also the belly full element. Our pressure has been off all year - just had to watch the Swans to see the desperation that it takes. Im not holding my breath for next year either. Not saying we will drop away but I think Goody will try to persevere with the current plan. The Cats stuck to their finals flunking game plan for 10 years before Scott finally did something about it. If Goodwin is all about learning I hope he learns that lesson real quick.

Free kick goals are the worst by a mile. They should get the ARC to review them in F50 from now on to make sure it’s right. Anything outside 50, fair enough I’ll accept the decision as little impact. Think about the 2 BS 50s we got against the Swans in the EF before you reply back and think about how that changed the result. It drives fans nuts especially when it’s proven wrong on the replay.

The difference is that both teams move the ball like lightening and through the corridor. So you can setup for the rebound. When we come in from the wing, kicking it to the fat side will almost certainly result in an opposition score if it’s turned over. We also don’t have the kickers that can deliver it accurately.

Yep they are very well balanced. Their pressure game is best in the comp. The list is very young. Don’t want to say the D word yet but we are entering a Federer, Nadal and Joker like era of footy.
