Lachie Hunter Loses Bid To Overturn 1 Week Suspension
58er replied to Monbon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Where did I say about a vendetta? Yes some have and I don't agree but it is most unDemonlike for 3 successive reports which indicates the AFL mania for trying to control the concussion/ head debate. The MRO Officer is not consistent never has been and where a loophole or vision to break his jarred version of carrying out the AFL mantra is available let's challenge it. This is an opportunity as Spartow was clearly up against precedent. The Tribunal have at least shown they are open to grading changes and this one is wide open for that challenge. Your judgement on Lachie Hunter seems harsh and I doubt you would be the same it it was Trac or Clarry or Gawny. He was one of our better players ( not so hard to figure) and he has some style quirks but to say he wouldn't be missed on his season so far by any poster is totally biased and unfair on Lachie. I believe if both Harmes and Sparrow played we would have won based on tagging and a more physical approach by our on ballers, placing more pressure on their youngsters, much the way Maxy was treated like in 2019 by Port when it was perhaps not physically challenged early and strong enough. Let's see what happens this week. -

Agree thats the thing Fr- ap does not look at. Every bit of evidence is that it was LOW impact and should be challenged vigorously at the Tribunal. Different scenario if he was taken off the ground and also Players are taught NOT to lead head first into a contest but to turn their body. Rozee made no effort at all and Hunter was IMO first at the ball. For Fr-ap to say it's so cut and dried he does not understand the game and current psychology of the game. Where MRO leaves a clear opportunity to challenge the ruling we MUST take him to task. in fact some of Fr-ap 's post is fundamentally wrong some may even call it Cr-ap and we should show our strength and support our players when wrongly charged. In other words the medium impact is patently wrong on all counts and should be downgraded to a fine. -
Agree Roost it !! Get Burgo back! Clarry is undisciplined at times and so is Kossie. Both need some TLC with a gentle pat on the behind to get that 5% out of them ALL the time that is match winning not just careless handballs or futile high screamers or careless kicks for disposal or goals.

Do you penalise like for other teams say the swans because it's not a good look the look the way they have been losing. Sometimes poor exposure is the beginning of the end for some fans who shy away from watching. Seeing Buddy play last week made the Freo game awful almost embarrassing as Amiss Treacy and Jacko starred and Buddy ( who was ill they say )prob got that from Chris Scot!! No it's a raffle this TV game as well Reith the usual AFL indifference to many of its decisions. At least they could recruit a champion excuse and generally untruthful defender of poor judgement likeScott Morrison to further confuse the masses.

I think basically our best or unbelievable footy is started off by either Clarry Viney Maxy or a Trac and in that regard we drop off . ( on the ball especially) Our B+ graders can't generate that momentum but can rise like most players when we hit that magic patch. But we can't play it for 4 quarters. So it's a matter of our best and worst being too far apart. Or do we lack some thing ie top KP forwards? I don't the defence is what it was either we are a 70 to 80 side instead of 60 to 70 or less. Our players don't actually mind a man and shirt kicks are offered plus it doesn't stop a side if they run hard and fast. Our ability is there mostly still and some tweaking in positions roles and plans is necessary to try and regain that defence and pressure we had in 2021. We also are a little flat track bullies to non8 teams and are now having longer flat periods and more games when we appear slow to start ie last night and Lions and Bombers games. Catch up is harder now than two years ago as about 7/8 teams are very good in their day. over to the Coaches and Players and of course our traders and Drafters!!!

Sparrow and Harmes would have been priceless last night for heavy work and some tagging. No doubt we would have won with those two putting pressure on the Port speedsters. 41 possessions and no tag at any time ? That's match losing footy esp in the last quarter.

Good points and so believe Kossie simply plays his own game ( which is good) but he needs to be more in sincere with our game plans and also wait down for crumbs and not try and take the mark of the century To be fair he has not clunked one yet and is not good at it. He needs some discipline ( just a reminder not too heavy) as does Clarrie who has become a little wasteful agsin. Can smarten up and be more composed. Anothrr post bemoaning that MAX and VINEY lack pace. FFS not all mids are fast ( Sam Mitchell ) and Jack is playing well in his role. As for Max I am sure he can kick better with more practice but as for pace he is not slow for his height and it's not his job to be fast!!!!!! We do need a couple of players as fast outside runners or a Butters style with pace and good disposal. Kossie is fine in the middle but very short doses are better. Mids all need with Ooze to redefine their roles and positions at centre and boundary throw ups/ins. Last night was the same as in Brisbane of defensive disaster as Port like the Lions got goals at Will from firward stoppages. Finally Let's not take our 2/3/4/5 champs in the middle for granted. They all need a regrouping on their roles and positioning as we are being slaughtered on the ball due to poor planning. We should be top or near top on the ball but are struggling mainly due to our own planning snd game awareness.

It's a 6 day turnaround not 5. In case we have all forgotten there are 7 days in the week and we generally work Mon-Frid and that's 5 days. Sunday seems to be forgotten as the 7th day!!

The Hawthorn saga has been abominably handled by both HFC and the AFL it being a long drawn out affair ( about 3 times longer than Gill predicted) snd all are awaiting the outcome. Naturally all concerned in this Enquiry are anxious and extremely frustrated how it's been drawn out so long. At the moment no one looks like being a winner and with mediation if it's carried out will probably leave some participants still feeling neglected and possibly even overlooked. With the fact that the three main persons involved still not having had any opportunity to state their case or answer any specific allegations. It's not hard to understand it's putting real pressure on some more than others. I have no idea who if any will be judged guilty or even charged. Now that Alistair Clarkson has succumbed after all this time, 9 months on nearly it has with his remarks earlier this week and walking away needing the time to safeguard his health It may prove a godsend for North as Ratten will be like a breath of fresh air to the players no doubt. Clarko to me has not resembled the same person and his coaching to me seems rather tempered and stifled. He has obviously been affected by the whole affair and maybe he is genuinely stressed with its results and the North lack of success and results. Let's remember many of the families who have given evidence have had this stress for not only nine mths but longer. So the Hawks side is possibly feeling the heat as much also. Hopefully some resolutions can be completed ASAP to ease all within this sad and sorry matter.

No they don't they get the weekend in the middle if it is given by the Club. We may train on Sat but would be our choice I think. If you watch training times we always train light early in the week and if a 5/6 day break agsin we tailor our work load accordingly. Also not all shorter breaks are hard on the players. Depends upon travel, and the hardness/ toughness of the previous game.

Every one of the players and coaches are MFC immortals. But as Goody has realised ( a little bit too late for 2022) we can't keep selecting players on their form in 2021 no matter how great it was and keep the faith for selection a year or two later. But we are now putting faith in players like JVR Kade C and Judd McVee plus Brodie and Lachie who will carve out their own part of our modern history. It's an exciting opportunity for all to create more success for our Club to reward fans and the heroes that can make it all happen.

Why leave Perth out? Has best stadium and have greater crowd figures than both Sydney and Adelaide for non local participant games eg 2021.

Good points ET. See my post below.

Perhaps you should find out rather than allude to the MFC missing an opportunity. There quite possibly have not been a choice on the Queen for Clubs in this promotion!!! Perhaps you could ask why isn't it the King also?

Natural immigration once enough jobs have been created would work well and assist Tassie. .

What's Tabletennis got to do with AFL?

You mean 12/15 mins really DC.

It's not the coin value as the motive for purchase. Really some DLErs are off the mark. Historical objects and prices are not judged the same value of the purchase but a potential value or sentimental etc. which is different to different people. Its so basic and critical to expect this novelty coin for a dollar really. If it was a dollar it wouldn't be worth buying!

No way DD. Andrew Dillon has already marked his opinion quickly with this decision and his answer on 360 on his CEO elect day to a Gerard W question. Serves well the 2.30 day but twilight in Perth hours was still fine. Still enough hours to celebrate and follow up on Sunday.

There is still approx 12 games plus any Finals and as usual some D/Lers are ( as is their rite but it's a painful read of speculation and predictions to judge many times). We have seen JJ and Harmes take the slow way and alternatively Bowser and Judd McVee the fast track to AFL pedigree. Jury still out on Howes Taj Deakyn Laurie etc. who can grab the gap to AFL team with 5/6 good games and come in for an injury maybe and voila so we can't discard some who are still on the journey and indeed keep some here in the 24 to 30 category for real and authentic depth.

That sounds like a half solution to me ie last year rush back on Casey games were Riv Salo Etc we know the results and this year it's mostly 2 games to ensure the player is absolutely cherry ripe. Yes Mr F you are right about our med and performance teams improved handling so why make an exception for Salo who I regard as talented a player on our list ( refer GF first half especially). I really don't want to see Salo circa 2022 but the 2021 version as a match winner and 2 games in suits that new prescription which is succeeding well. But again we trust our Coaches and FD and Medicos this season of course.
-
Agree JG. The constant love for them by the press and commentators plus the Daikos hype is overwhelming. I am almost hoping if we win it's close and they don't lose many games before Finals and finish on Top. This way we can surprise them rather than alert them!!

Never have and probably never will. What we have is now a rotated home game each June hol or now KB holiday. What we did have with "Eddies permission" about a dozen QB games from in the naughties to 2018 approx as our home game and money making opportunity and scheduled to help our bottom line. He recently asked the AFL to return to the status quo as he could see we were moving up the ladder in finance and performance and one day might represent a challenge to his Pies. Nevertheless we do owe him some gratitude for his generosity in this matter.
